    Oct 26, 2007, 3:34 AM - More accurate Jango guantlet hose? #1

Just sharing a possible source for what looks like really good Jango hose.
Inner diameter is .25", outer diameter is .438". It's way more pliable than the Home Depot stuff (almost as pliable as auto fuel line hose). I ordered it from USPlatics.com for .24 cents a foot (10 feet minimum order).

Here's the link to the item: http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/var...ant%5Fid=60701

    Very nice.

Ya know, if you don't need all 10 feet...I'd be interested in buying enough for my costume.

Yep, it's blue - you just dye it.

I would, but my wife has the camera with her. I used Royal Blue RIT Dye with a little bit of black. Boiled some water, poured it in a bucket. Poured in the dye, threw in the hose and left it for no more than a minute before it was ready. It's dark blueish purple but you can still see inside the hose a little bit. I rinsed it out in the sink and let it dry overnight.

Here's my process: I use Rit Denim Blue (liquid form). I fill up my bean pot 3/4 full with water. Bring the water to a boil. Move the pot to the sink. Add in the dye and mix gently. Use tongs to put 7' sections of cut hose in the dye bath. Take it out after about 30 seconds to check color and return it to the dye bath if I'm not happy with it. I keep up this process checking it every 15 second or so until I get the tint of blue I want. When I get the right tint, I rinse it immediately in water in the other side of the sink.

I've tested the Royal Blue, Navy Blue, and Denim Blue colors. I felt the Royal Blue was too bright and the Navy Blue was too purple for my tastes. I'll see if I can find some pics of how the Denim Blue turned out for me.

Here are two different applications on the Home Depot hose. The second was left in the dye bath a tad longer.

Do you have an item number or link to the page you got it? I am looking for some hose that is more flexible like this.

How pliable is this new hose? I know the home jippo stuff scratches me.

About 10 feet is what you would need to do all 3 hoses.......

I like to cut my hoses to length bfore dying I think it helps consistency (spl)

Sorry answer and asking a few different Qs....

    Guys:

Im in the UK and just found this online.

    1. Would this do the trick?

    http://www.kiowa.co.uk/Products/PVC_...Ragno_cr).html

    2. My hoses are balck at the moment, do they need to be dark blue to be screen accurate?

    Thanks - Adam

Dark blueish-purple is accurate. Those hoses in the link you posted, you would probably want the 6mm hose which is about 1/4". But those are going to be pretty stiff. That 6mm hose has a 12mm OD (1/2") which means its really thick and stiff. The hoses Cruzer posted have a 1/4" ID but are not as large OD, so the walls are thinner and its more flexible. The Home Depot hoses he speak of have the same dimensions as the 6mm hose you linked to, with a 1/2" OD.

    This is thinner stuff

Daft question, but if I dye this blue ... it should go purple?

Ah! That should be better, flexibility wise. Very similar to the OD of the stuff Cruzer and I found. I don't know what color it will turn when you dye it, but if you buy enough of it you should be able to test it on some scrap pieces.

That'd be pretty neat if someone supplied the hose already dyed the correct color of blue.

If it's easier to just pay for shipping to the UK and $5 for 10 feet of dyed hose from me, just let me know. I just bought over 150 feet of this stuff and have plenty extra to share.
