You guys should probably point out to your sources that if these turn out to be really good, they can probably expect a lot of repeat interest. That might also help with possible pricing, or willingness to participate. I know the SW Jango community is in desperate need of a cheaper solution to the MRs which are rare as rocking horse ****. lol

I'm still here reading all these posts and am very impressed with the cooperation that's going on. My ears also pricked up when I heard mention of a UK supplier! That'd be sweeeeet.

Wouldnt it be easier to cast the handles in high impact resin? Then have the machinist do just the barrels?
    Just a thought...

Thats what Ive been thinking actually, to make them just like the MR's and sopposedly, the real deal's.

If I were to do that, I'd prefer to get the handle piece CNC milled, and then make a 2 part mold from that. The only other issue, would be the method of attachment for the barrels. I would also prefer the triggers to be metal, as well as the grip's butt.

At this point, Im done trying to use the one I had sourced out. No responses or anything. So Im going to look for a new one.

    Thanks guys

Well there may be a new source now. I recieved an email from I think a member here, but Im not to sure to be honest (please forgive me if Im wrong)

However, hes going to check out what the machinist he knows can do. I think that what obi sean suggested might be the better way to go. That way, we can can get just barrels and what not.

For the grips, we should try to scout out a very strong poly urethane resin to use to cast them in. I ordered some silicone mold making rubber, which Im using for another project, and will try to practice making a 2 part mold (something small) with the left over material.

I'm really starting to get excited about the progress being made here.

Making the barrels only out of aluminium and the grips resin sounds like a good way to go, and it shouldn't be too hard to cut the trigger section, and palm-plate section out of sheet aluminium either.

    **** QUOTE *****

    Fella's

I have just recieved a quote from my manufacturer.

The engineers took a long hard look at the CAD drawings and decided that the best way forward would be to produce the Barrel and the Pistol Grip sepaeratley, the barrel from Ali and the Grip from Resin. The main reason for this was that for the barrel alone it would take 6 hours on a CNC machine.

HOWEVER, There is the option for a 100% Ali Westar if wanted.

Okay , figures: (Quoted in GBP) This is for an order of 25 pairs

Full Jango Westar Pistol, in Aluminium - 75 ($150USD)
Full Jango Westar Pistol, Aluminium Barrel with Resin Grip - 65 ($130USD)

I have asked for a prototype to be made up and I think before officially declaring interest we should concentrate on getting the prototyp as good as possible.

Just to run that by you again .... $300USD for a pair of blasters .... ROFL!

**AS WE DELVELOP THE PROTOTYPE, PRICES ARE LIKLEY TO CHANGE, THESE ARE ONLY BASIC GUIDES**

Sounds good - but I am broke at the moment. I planned on selling my other Westars...those could offset the cost...

    I'm interested - pending proto.

That price is phenominal! I'm in regardless. Heck, I'll sell a kidney if I have to, but I don't think I'll have to go that far. I'd be more interested in the all aluminum version, but if more people decide on the resin/aluminum combo that will be fine as well.

Wow...that is just about the price I paid for one resin kit on Ebay for 1...$140...compared to a aluminum for $150... But if the prototype looks good, I may go for it!

    Sounds Brilliant Adam.

I'm very interested and will def confirm if the prototype turns out to be as good as expected.
    Cheers for looking into this.

Good job bro! Im so glad to finally get a quote for these from someone, and thats an outstanding price too. Would you be molding/casting the grips?

I doubt they will. Why would they? It's been done already.

Besides, that price would be hard to beat.

In all the way if the prototype's pretty and the price don't change much. For the small price hike, I'd advise buy-in on the all ally piece. Just my 2p anyway!

    good job dude!

You mean source the materials ourselves?

Once this is up and running and we have approved the prototype I will hand payment and ordering over to the supplier, as I simply dont have time to sell these as a middle-man.

The supplier is an time-served and experienced prop-seller so he's more than capable of handling this project once TDH have signed-off on the prototype.
