i took 150 grit sandpaper to mine...took about a good 30 mins to 60 mins to get the dome somewhat smooth....you don't need to bondo unless you want to make the sanding process longer...this is a really nice lid...I just started the paint process...I'll get a thread up shortly.

I have sanded the helmet with 150 grit. I am going to put a small layer of bondo to smooth things out a bit. I am going to use rattle cans to paint it all. I think it might be a little easier and faster then rub n buff.

After u do the 150 for some time move up to a wet sand with a 320 grit sanding sponge. After that do a 1000 grit or 1500 grit sand from the auto sections.

You'd be better off to use rub-n-buff on the silver portions... trust me on this.

I've yet to get the spray chrome paints looking right, and rub-n-buff is sooooooooo easy to apply. Just follow SEEKERS tutorial video. He uses his hand to apply and buff, as the friction from your bare skin causes the right amount of heat to melt the wax in the rub-n-buff, smoothing it out and giving you a nice even coverage. Once you've rubbed it enough, you can almost get a mirror finish.

If you're worried about getting the rub-n-buff off your hands once you're finished, don't. All you need to do is wash your hands a couple of times with liquid dish soap. It'll remove the rub-n-buff no problems.

Well I'm not happy that it broke in transit... Darn post office... Im super stoked to see the completed lid.

Thank you again.

I too am getting one of these buckets, and hope to join the ranks of you great dads.

What are you all using for the visor? And how are you attaching them?

Well it seems these days you cant go to the store and get a tinted safety replacement visor any more so now you must find it "& if you do please tell me" or get a clear one and tint it with "tint" and there you go... Now attachment, I just hot glued in the cut out visor "sand inside of T visor so the hot glue sticks" and walla!

I'll post more pics in awhile. I found the dark green shield at a small hardware store where I work. They are 4.99. I think they had about 4 or 5. If anyone would like I can pick some up. I don't know how much shipping would be but can't be to much.

I seen the other treads going so I didn't updated mine as much. Here are some more pics. I just need to add the black stripes and screen on the back. I cut out the visor using the wof templates at 75%. The visor fit prefect.
