I would have to say it was closest to a Dickies type cotton, not too thick though.

oooh, that's a thick one...holds color very well too. You have confirmed my method of attacking this problem...purchasing a short sleeved white dickies jumpsuit and sewing on sleeves underneath it.

cool ! Thanks Jay.

Dickies doesn't make a white coverall, do they?

If they do, that is for sure the route I'm gonna take.

They do make a grey one, but I would think that would
be more difficult to get the color correct.

If you know of someplace to buy a white coverall,
please post a link!

Thanks!

Jango jumpsuit color

I'm color-blind, so the various hues escape me. Have we ever pinned down the right color - royal blue? Light purple? Something else?

I dyed mine royal blue 2 times then mixed 1/4 denimblue and 1/4 purple and dyed it again(rit dyes). It looks pretty good.

I was informed by both moma-bear and g/f that the color I stated is wrong. It's actually called solid water. I dont know about any one else but this really seems to be working for me. Under soft light this suit appears blue, under harsh and flash it takes on that off purple color as well.

I was wondering if anyone on here has some patterns for constructing a Jango jumpsuit out of fabric? What have you guys used/modified to construct your jumpsuits?

The pattern I used is by Green Pepper- it can be found at JoAnn's. The name of the pattern is as mentione, "men's black butte jumpsuit". I have pictures up on my site of how it turned out. I did have to modify the sleeve a bit and made it one piece without the elastic waistband. But the overall cut of it and the neck line was perfect.

Try McCall's pattern #2336. It's a super hero costume, but the jumpsuit works great for Jango. All you have to do is add a collar, and an outer sleeve. It is a very easy pattern.

The Simplicity pattern I have was near perfect...but they discontinued it. You might be able to find it in a store that doesn't do much business. It was for a "Grease" jumpsuit. You'll probably have better luck looking for the Green Pepper pattern.

Ashtep,

I could not find anything on that link that would take me to any Red Kap coveralls.

Where do I find it?

I think the link is http://www.allseasonsuniforms.com/rca01.htm

His link has a " . " at the end which shoots you to contractortools.com

I have a big ben coverall that is a dark navy, should I attempt to bleach it slightly and then dye it? Or should I just get some of that fabric Jango Bear mentioned and construct the suit?

G.F., Rit makes a color remover. You could try that and then try dying it.

I am trying the JCPenny version of blue coveralls by Big Mac. IF the color is wrong i can send em back no problem...The best color match I've seen so far is a brand of medical scrubs called Barco.. they have denim blue that is the "EXACT" color of the 12" Jango fett's Suit. Problem is that they are scrubs.. and would take a lot of modifications.

I just found me a pair of the grey Dickies coveralls last night.

I've searched the forum for tips on how to dye these things.
I've found plenty of mixtures of RIT dye for a white jumpsuit.
But nothing for a grey one!!!

There has to be someone on here that started with a grey and
successfully got to the right blue/purple Jango color!

If there is anyone out there that can help me,
please, please, please, share your profound wisdom with me!

My first suggestion would be to try and bleach it white, other than that, I would suggest trial and error. Buy some cheap shirts or material similar in color and fabric to your dickies and start dying. That is about the only way I got the color that I wanted, but mine was white.

I know that really doesn't help a whole lot, but you never know...

I started with black, bleached them gray and then dyed them purple... just using the rit purple dye. I like the results...

I don't have pictures yet, but I have my dad's digital camera and will be taking pictures of the costume this weekend. He should be able to download and get them back to me by next week...

Can you wait that long??? *L*

Well I tried to get away with using color remover on a pair of BigBen Navy coveralls and that didn't work. I didn't use bleach though...Hmmm...

Maybe I'll try some bleach over the weekend, in the meanwhile Im going to try dying some lilac colored sheets with a mixtureof blues and see how that turns out.

Guri, I'd also like to see your results. Im using 1/3 denim blue mixed with some Light blue rit.
