He wears it in a cut scene where Padme and Anakin are on trial by Count Dooku. Pretty nifty I say.

I always wondered why Jango didn't have any "cape" like element to his armor since Boba did, but that thing covers up way to much of his awesome armor!

    Re: Jango's Poncho

Jango doesn't wear any form of trophies from the hunt like we see predator and boba fett do... wich is supposed to be an ancient ritual here one arth by ancient cultures etc.

boba's sign of "dont screw with me" are the cape, braids and the killstripes.

also the heavily weathered armor with the "shocking" skull symbol must be signs of warning and competence.

whereas Jango looks like a power ranger, Boba looks like a lazy "bum" who doesnt spend time cleaning and maintaining his stuff

I always thought the cape in that drawing was unusally similar to the poncho Luke ends up with in episode 4. It's also interesting to see that Boba's shoulder cape started out life as a more "poncho-like" accent. (In that same drawing it seems like it only covers the front shoulder-to-shoulder.) Very Eastwood like.

Resurrecting this thread here, but...how many of you would be interested in a run of this poncho if my girlfriend made a quality one of it?(EG: she makes it, I put it on me whilst wearing my jango armor, and post a thread with pics, and we get a run started?)

Of course..we'd figure out pricing and such later I suppose.

I have the fabric but me and my girlfriend are going to make it out of a muslin first, and figure it out "pattern wise" and then use that to make more out of the actual fabric.

If someone want to do it, IMO it looks a kind of Tweed.

Here is a pic on which you can see a close up, and some others to compare to the real poncho. Not the same colors, but the texture looks really close, but it's just my opninion.

    Re: Jango's Poncho

I hadn't seen this thread on my first pass. I hadn't even known about this cut scene, and it's interesting to see that there were two Jango ponchos. This one is the one that was evidently settled upon for filming, but there was also one that was in costume tests that I like better. I only have one picture of it on my computer, and the web site it was on seems to be defunct. I never got an answer from the site owner when I asked about a clearer version, and the last time I was there, it didn't seem to exist at all. But anyway, something else to toss into the mix...

wow, i didnt even realize this "actually existed" but, if it ended up on the cutting room floor, i guess it technically didn't. i've seen the deleted scenes and never noticed it. guess i'll have to rewatch it. the only place i'd ever seen the poncho was on the tac jango fett action figure.

hahaha, I should have learned by now to just post the info, lol.

I found that when looking for this fabric, it is much like the flightsuit debacle... must be dark blue enough, but not too blue, less saturated, kind of greyish/dark blue also with a hint of purple.

    https://www.fabric.com/ProductDetail...9-1b7688fc018a

The link is what I found and will be using, with the raggy looking cotton (as I posted above) as backing material.

Great material. Based off the pictures alone, it's easy to see the cloth is loosely but securely woven for a thick cross-stitch. Perfect for the poncho, though, I'm concerned with the thought that it might be punctured or pulled apart too easily. Also, do you think you'll have any trouble dying the cloth?

JAngo's Poncho material is a herring bone pattern denim material. Jo-anns believe it or not had some a few months ago that is a close as you will get with out being in an Upholster fabric. I might be albe to post a picture of the material and I might have the SKU #

I have bought this fabric from B. Black & Sons, and think it looks pretty good. It's 100% wool, and it has the herringbone pattern, though it's a little more narrow than the original.

I'll add a quote of the close-up picture provided by Foxbatkllr for comparison:

Do you have a picture of how it looks from a distance, and possibly laying out flat?

That Poncho is AWESOME! Great job. I think you possibly just added another significant piece to an already iconic character.
