    Jango Rub n' Buff prep

I am finished painting my Bobamaker Jango lid, now I'm just curious if the grey primer he sent it to me in is acceptable to RnB or do I need to sand again? It feels fairly smooth but I'm noticed that when you sand with 600 grit it's a glass smooth finish, then you prime again and there are some rough spots. At what point do you call it enough?

Use your best judgement, really. The smoother the surface, the better. I sand several times after I coat some primer until I feel it's ready

    Wax on, wax off!

I swear man, next year I'm going as Masking Tape Fett...this is some hard and tedious work. I love doing it but the Halloween crunch is stressing me out. I need there to be 40 days in October!

Oh yea. My only custom mando idea is to go as "primer grey" fett...

I'd sand the primer it came in. Reprime it, which means you'll need to resand it. I'd go finer and wet sand it with at least 1000. I finished with 2000 on mine. The better you sand the better your R&B will turn out.

Thanks for the input. I sanded it back down with some 600. I'll go 800 tomorrow and call it a go. It already feels like glass.

Interested too see how this turns out.
Didn't know BM been producing these helmets that quick.

Some roughness surely part the look of a Mando. Wouldn't it make the weathering more real too with less sanding?

Well I've been looking at the ref pics a lot and going through old threads about this topic. I've seen some near glass finishes that had to be dulled up a little to achieve the proper screen look. I think 600 is good for this and I'll post pics of the finished helmet in a day or so

Here it is unweathered. I think it came out well and as usual the flash dulls out the finish. Not bad for the time crunch I'm under. Did the whole thing in 3 days.
