Jango Helmet Help

I have a JD jango helmet. (which I have been procrastinating on working on for fear of not doing it justice) And I have a problem. I was wetsanding it the other day, and when I went to sand around the visor area, right where it touches the rf ear, I sanded too much and now it has lost a lot of it's height. I was wondering if I should use bondo on it and attempt to raise it up and sand it? Or does anybody have any other suggestions. Any help is much appreciated.
And in case anybody needs to know, it was a pre-owned helmet, so i am sanding off the other paint job.
