Jango Fett Wester-34's Scratchbuild

Hi gang Trav here AKA (TK-3623)

Been into scratch building for about 2 years now, Done some TK projects and stuff and thought I'd move onto a Jango Fett as out Garrison does not yet have one.

I'm a Fitter and Machinist by trade, so I mainly work with metal. One great reason to tackle a JF!

So here's what I have done so far on the build.

Here is a site with some great pics of the Master Replicas Westers I've been using as reference along with the wonderful Templates supplied by Wizard of Flight (I love you)

This was my first test piece for Item #1

after I realized I could get the effect I needed I went ahead and remade it better

Here is the item with the holes drilled only

And then machined back to reveal the grooves

The main shaft for Item #2

Next I started working on the Barrel, I've since filed out the slots.

here's a shot of the grooves filed and finished, still need to file the other barrel

I've cut out the grips using 25mm PVC. picked up an offcut from Trident plastics.

I need to cut two grooves in both grips for the alloy trigger housing and the grip butt.

and next I'll start curving the grip

Cheers mate!

Question: What's the story with the different trigger guards on the MR westers? One has a ring and the other doesnt, a little confusing it is..

a few other things done now!

cut out the triggers and managed to get one of them filed and fitted to the grip

jangoguns018.jpg

also got the triangle barrels cut out this arvo and managed to leave one at work

jangoguns016.jpg

and here's a couple shots of the final progress so far, again just the one blaster.

and you can see the grips have now been shaped, must be over 6 hours of filing and sanding in those grips :(

OK, so how much did ILM pay when they commisioned you do do the ones for EPII?
I only say that because of the serious talent you are showcasing here, you HAD to be the one who did the originals. :)

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Finally another update! Been busy on the blaster and lazy with the pics

here are the parts for the base of the grip, made from 8mm & 10mm flat bar, I shaped the curved piece by grinding and filing down some 10mm bar.

more than meets the eye

Fixed the barrel parts together, holding nice and strong they is! :D

jangoguns027.jpg

This part is fixed to the grip and then the barrel slide into place, I still need to fix the barrel to this part.

jangoguns025.jpg

Picked up some really cheap brass thread bar to machine down into tube form for the internal brass barrel. Great score for 12 bucks!

jangoguns031.jpg

I still managed to forget to upload the pics of both the blasters :angry( will have then up by tonight (goddamnit forgot the best pic!)

jangoguns029.jpg

And here they both are!

Still have heeps of assembling to do, also picked up some spray putty today for the grips.

jangoguns028.jpg

'bout I also start looking into the correct shade of silver paint for said grips, anyone know what a close match is? light silver, gunmetal grey?

Cheers!
Trav
