Anyone have the correct color dye mix for dying a mohair girth in white to the proper color for the under ammo belt?

Hmm, well the thing is, it is not made from mohair, it is actually leather.

Yes but I am trying to get this ready for halloween and no one has one in leather. Maybe I can get a better one by C III but for now I will try this if anyone has a dye mixture that they tried.

Mirax is right. It was leather but I have not seen anyone have anything close to it.

I bet that if you supplied the leather to some kind of a rope company, and gave them a pic of what you want, they could do that for you.

What most of us have done is buy leather through Tandy or the Leather factory, and then you have to cut it into strips and then braid it yourself. As for using mohair, I would guess a combo of a dark brown, maybe a hint of red and black too.

I got a bottle of Dark brown and will try it this weekend after soaking in the acetate.

I also just found a site to buy braided leather 42" long strips and I am on the phone ordering 20 of them right now.
I will posta photo once they arrive.

Well just remeber you need 4 strips per braid and you need around 20 braids.

Are there any updates? Did you get the rest of your order? I'd like to know so I could possibly order some braids from them as well. They look pretty nice.

Okay but what about the source for braids themselves? I don't need a whole belt made, I can do that myself.

Re: Jango Fett Braided Belt source REVEALED!!!

The place I get the braids from is called Indian Jewelers Supply Company. website: http://www.ijsinc.com phone 1-800-545-6540

The item number is 118-BOS6LBRN bola straps 6 ply 42" long. They cost about $5.69 a piece and I used about 25 for this belt. They do not need to be dyed as they are a perfect color the way they come.

I was going to make them for the board and sell them but the cost is just to high and I don't think anyone would be willing to pay what it would cost to make it. I spent about $165+ to make this one. I will offer to make them for other members if they want me to but now you have the source if you want to do it on your own.

Not bad for a beginner Huh??

Nice, but I think the spool of it that Foxbat found is more economical. Foxbat and I did some googeling last night to find leather brade, because you seemed reluctant to tell where you got yours from. A blessing in desguise, perhaps.

6-ply? You need 4-ply for Jango. Also, there should be 19 (at most 20) braids in the belt.

If you do 20 4 ply briads it will not be big enough. I originally orderd 20 and it was to thin even with the 6 ply. You will need at minimum 20 but 25 is better.

Yeah but it's inaccurate then. It should be 19 or 20 1/4" (or 6mm) 4-ply braids.

Re: Jango Fett Braided Belt source REVEALED!!!

Last year when a friend of mine and I built a Jango costume for a friend's kid, I bought a bunch of nice braided leather strands off e-bay. It was a dutch auction, so I got to choose how many strands I wanted and bought just the right amount. It turned out beautifully and was actually pretty cheap to make.

Mind sharing the source you found? I'd like to get around
    to making one for myself.
