jango boot alternative

i got mine the other day and i was just looking at them. the logo on the back isnt too noticeable but i think it could be removed. it is separate from the boot (a glued on logo) im sure it could be pried off if you really wanted it gone. I am probably going to just black it out then put some weathering on the boot. and the gbx logo on the side gets covered up when you remove the lower buckle and do what Loanstar did and use velcro over that part to attach the shoe armor straps. Of course they go on sale after i buy them :rolleyes

I have used the journeys for my first JF Version.
If you cant get the original its a not so bad alternative.
I have used velcro over the gbx logo to attache the armor.

I know Jango has silver on the sole of the boots. Does Open Seasons Jango have them too? Thanks.

I got this e-mail from Journey's:

If an item is BACKORDERED, we will attempt to ship it from
one of our stores within the next 24 hours. Otherwise, we'll notify
you by email the date as soon as it becomes available. Thanks!

Well my wife just called me and said there is a package waiting for me at home from Journey's (Yep, my boots and my bolos from JD both came in the same day).

Took them a little over a week to get to me - it would have been nice to say they weren't on backorder and your item has been shipped... :facepalm I was getting ready to cancel the order and just go buy them at the store myself. Well good news they are here! (y)

Hey tony, yeah the automated emails that journey sends to your email is terrible and uninformative. I ended up getting jumpy and i called the customer # and gave them my information. They eventually told me that it was shipped out and on the way. But yeah they finally got here and they look and feel great.

Hi All,

I thought I'd chime in on this thread. I'm glad those alternative boots made by GBX from Journeys are working out for the most part. It's the closest thing to the Kenneth Cole Pit Crew and Bed Stu Modules IMHO. Anyway, would love to see some more finished Jango boots from the GBX alternatives!(y);)

my boot armor is on its way to me and after i get finished i will post up some pics. perhaps Loanstar has some more pictures of his finished boots?

Well mine are on their merry way to me now, thanks to Satxer. He was gracious enough to pick up a pair for me... the last pair in my size they had too. (y)

Thanks again my friend, and if I can ever repay the favor all you need to do is ask. (y) :cheers

I'll be sure to post up some pics as soon as I've got mine all altered and armored.

I had a chance to wear these today (for an hour or so while grocery shopping), and they are really quite comfortable.

Well some quick pics of the boots (as they arrived, no mods yet):

This looks like it's glued on, either way it's easy to cover up:

they are comfy. i joked with my gf that i shouldn't jango them up and just wear them normally haha. maybe looking into a casual use pair on the side

I picked up mine last weekend. What is the best product to paint the seams black on the boot? (I was thinking a fine tipped paint pen, but not sure where to pick up one at) Also where can I find rub & buff, and what color should I buy? I am needing also to glue some velcro to my ammo belt, what is the best glue to use on leather?

Thanks

Paint pen will work fine (even a sharpie will work). You can get those just about anywhere, Craft stores, Wal-Mart...etc.

Rub 'n' buff is sold at Michael's, it's normally down the aisle with the adhesives. You will only need one small tube (a little goes a long way). You are looking for the color "Silver Leaf". Packaging looks like this:

As for glue, I used E-6000 Craft Epoxy it's a silicone glue that I bought at Wal-mart (also found at most other places, Michael's sells that too). I also used clamps to hold the velcro in place for about 2 days. You want to make sure the glue has dried before testing the velcro.
