Belts & Holsters Jango ammo belt project

So after years of making custom girth belts in a variety of dimensions for members of various heights, it has always been in the back of my mind that the majority of them use ammo belts of the same dimensions. Recently this started bugging me after being asked to build two ammo belts by two different members, one of whom is almost 6' 2" and the other 5' 10". Then there is always the guy like me who is 5' and a half or so.

Well this past weekend I finally decided to do something about it and began hammering out dimensions for three different sizes of ammo pouches and belts based on the C2 ref. photos in the gallery, and after seeing how an awesome ammo belt that came into my possession a while ago looked on an almost 6" wide girth belt. I don't know the maker of the ammo belt in my possession because it isn't marked and I can't recognize the staining style, but I'm sure the sizes vary between the amazing current ammo belt makers out there.

I decided to go with three ammo pouch sizes and dimensions: Large-2 1/4"x 4 1/4", Medium-2 1/8"x 4 1/8", and Small-2"x4". I'm also estimating the large pouches will use a 2 1/2" wide belt, the medium pouches will use a 2 3/8" belt, and the small pouches will use a 2 1/4" belt.

I only have the largest size belt fully completed at this time for the 6'2" member, but I'll be sure to post some comparison pics of all three ammo belts side by side once they're finished. Let me know if there are any thoughts on this or if I'm headed in the wrong direction!...and yes I have already realized this is a result of my prop maker's OCD kicking in! [emoji6]

That sounds like an awesome and very helpful project. Looks on track to me.

That is not a ton of difference but it would be enough to help on overall proportionality.

Great job man

Thanks, you're right it doesn't seem like a significant enough difference when talking in differences of only 1/8". I agree completely, hahaha! However, when the two dozen or so girth belts that I have ever made have always fallen between 5"-6" wide, then that difference may just be enough for proportion/scale enthusiasts like myself. Plus I decided to primarily concentrate on height because the lengths of the girth belts I've made have been vast. However, each pouch can be adjusted up to 1/4" either way by repositioning the cover flaps held in place by velcro and/or trimming to accommodate different body widths. [emoji106]

Here's the comparison shot of the large size pouches at the top with a 2 1/2" belt and an approximately 6" girth belt. The middle pouches are the medium size, and the lower ammo belt is identical in width to my smaller pouch size, but 1/2" shorter in the cover flap, so the total pouch height is slightly smaller that 4".
