interesting....is Asoks FP's mold? I forget...Ive seen a FP jango lid it didnt seem as small as asoks though

No, the mold I have is not from FP's or molded off a helmet FP cast. And from I have been told, ILM did not make the Jango helmet. A company from down under made it, per Don Bies.

as far as the recasting shrinkage thing goes... you've got to use some poor silicones for that to be noticeable after a couple of generations. the stuff i use, rebound 25, is 0.001 inches shrinkage per inch. so over, say, a 10" span you're only talking about 0.010 inches. i know i can't see that by eye

I was only asking if it was FPs mold because I wasn't sure...not a FP recasted. And a comparison would be great for those people with larger heads, the Asok helmet was to small for me

the "ILM" helmets are all the same size: so asoks, fp's, bm's, all the same. the only difference is casting techniques. if you want a larger helmet then cruzer is the way to go; since it's a fan sculpt and doesn't have lineage to a screen used helmet.

Jinto, you will get a get a lot of flack when you make almost anything. It is just something you learn to deal with. There have been many a time I thought about not making stuff any more.

As for the Jango helmet being made by ILM Here is what I was told by Don Bies when I tried to give credit to whom I thought should get the credit.

All the screen used Jango Helmets were made by a host of talented craftsmen in Sydney, Australia--far from the confines of ILM and Marin County. If you have evidence that the ILM modelshop made one, I'd like to hear it. If not, and you simply mean screen-used, then please change the title of this thread, as it does a disservice to those who actually did the work.

I'm confused but love the discussion. Asok, I love the helmet you made... It's a bit of a tight fit but my grape fits in it so I'm cool... I just can't put too much in it to make it a little more comfortable. I may have to buy a Cruzer since I'll definitely be wanting to troop with a more comfortable lid. Either way, I'm happy!!!

My wife isn't, but then again I'm still working on multiple costumes (TOR Jedi, TOR Sith, Jango/Mando, and soon a Fett) so she is like when are you going to stop?

The BKBT is definitely larger than a screen used, but I'm not entirely certain the BKBT is a complete fan sculpt. It seems like it could have originated from a modified Boba helmet, but I would need to check with BKBT if someone here doesn't already know the answer and can enlighten us.

and there are excellent reasons why i don't really offer any of the stuff i create up directly.

i give my molds to other people and let them deal with the nonsense that comes of being a "Seller"

I was always aware that BKBT's helmet was a complete scratch sculpt. Now one thing that alot of people don't know is that the current one you have molds to are actually his Version 2 sculpt. I knew a 501st member that has or probably no longer has anymore, a version 1 of his Jango.

I do have a few comparison shots somewhere of an ILM and a BKBT..I think I actually posted it in one of my comission builds..BRB

Got it, from my build of SoulAssassin's build awhile back. BKBT is on the right side

First thing that is apparent, is the size difference. Ive heard that the ILM is significantly smaller then BKBT's bucket, with a width of about 9 1/4 inches, whereas BKBT' is about 9 3/4 inches wide (measured from where the ears lay flush; did NOT include the ear's width)









There appeared to have been some stress cracks on this side of the helmet, which I'll have to bondo up before painting.



Overall, I really have to commend BKBT's work on this, I dont know the circumstances for when he sculpted the helmet, but I know that he was very **** close as far as the accuracy of it. The fact that he made it larger, yet maintain the appropriate details really affirms my satisfaction for getting it. Ive considered re-shaping the width of the visor, but I gotta say, Im not, because it's unique to the BKBT helmet, and I really love the "clint Eastwood" squint
