Have the Asok ILM in hand... This is now a WIP

Got the itch to start on my lid last night so I trimmed everything necessary out and started with the sanding... Used 120 then 220, and here are the results so far... Thinking about going with a brushed look rather than the smooth Jango look, so I may not hit this with 320 or 400, and may just go to some 0000 steel wool to smooth everything out just a little more... Will hit this lid with an anodized purple and a royal purple... Then I think I'll be through.

sanding up to 600 grit or so and then using the 0000 steel wool should give you very nice results with a brushed aluminum look. i wouldn't suggest going higher than 800, and don't use metal polish on it and you should get what you're looking for.

cool... I'll finish up some time tomorrow evening with my sanding... No intentions on using metal polish... I have to check my local auto parts store for my paint. It's been awhile since I've done a project which required the anodized look. I'll probably paint during the week next week.

Yes, use the steel wool 0000 as mentioned! Works great, just gotta be careful not to sand too much, cause you can accidently sand away the silver. Ask me how I know lol

600... then the steel wool... I think i'd get a clearer, brighter shot if I took the helmet outside and took pics... Maybe tomorrow once I go on my paint hunt...

I have to wait a few weeks to get my armor from Cruzer... Then hopefully I can get the gaunts and other soft pieces before SheVaCon... I really wouldn't mind being fully suited by that time...

With mine i went from180 all the way to 1800 using wet and dry paper and of cause wet it for better results,..
You said you wanted a "brushed" look id personaly say go for a more authentic look and smooth it out more ,
One thing that did happen to my Asok lid was i went thrugh the first layer of CC in places and unfortunantly the mix from layer to layer veryied in aluminium to resin ratio so i got patches,. However once i finished the lid up and gave it a dirty look with a waterd down mix of arylics , the cc layers only added to the look and in turn gave the over all a more astheticly pleasing result '
My point is i think its worth smothing the CC out and if it does rub thru its not the end off the world

jinto, definitely understand what you are saying. It's just that with the anodized paint I'll be using it's going to show through some of the work underneath and I like the scratchy look... I don't want to be totally smoothed over... I may beat up some of the purpl to give it the weathered look and having the scratchy underneath gives the beat up look.

The fun part for me will be the rest of the armor... Once I get it all in anyway. 3 months to get everything in and completed is a very short time frame.

Hey smuwindu- Looks amazing! Gotta love the "peewee herman" toy blasters..they look great all mod'd up as I have the same!!!! the washers on the end as devilstar suggested on my WIP really made a huge difference too. They have the chrome color as well. Love the colors bro..cant wait to see the rest!

dynamic1, I'll be making a trip to Home Depot to look for those over the weekend... I got lucky and found a toyshop selling two for a decent price on Ebay. The funny thing is if I were doing a "normal" Jango, I would not have had to paint them at all. They were already silver and blue...

LOL!!! Ya, my wife found the orange and white ones at target after halloween for $1.50 so I couldnt pass it up : )...thats great u lucked out w/ the silver and blue ones..they really look nice w/ the purple, I luv it! The washers really give em a nice aesthetic and make them appear a tad longer as DS said. Have a great newyear buddy!

Haven't provided an update in a while...

I have gloves on hand finally... (It's tough finding purple gloves that fit my hands!)

Waiting on some stuff from Cruzer, Seeker, and Bleahh. Things should start coming together real soon however!!! Thinking of doing something off-kilter with the boots since this is more custom Jango than movie accurate Jango...

Trout it's all Cruzer, everything except for the darts n missile, and the ASOK helm... Werstrooper, I only have the soft parts from Bleahh that I'm waiting on. Once I get those and can mount the armor to the vest, everything should get very interesting... I may have to buy another helm though because my head is rather large and I feel like an M&M in the ASOK helm... I can manage in it, but would rather a looser fit
