Cruzer, mark me down as interested, these look fantastic, and like others, I have problems getting those MOWs shut around my forearms.

Re: Guaging interest in Cruzer Jango gauntlets

Thanks guys for chiming in. For those that asked, I'll offer these gauntlets for as long as the molds are good, and I was told this silicone will easily give me 50 pulls.

All of the molds are now fabricated, so I'll make a set immediately after the aluminum powder arrives and post some pics asap.

    Thanks,
    Cruzer

Hey Cruzer, If you can get a good estimate on pricing I would like to "pre-order" mine while I have the money handy.

Re: Guaging interest in Cruzer Jango gauntlets

I won't know an exact price until I add up how much aluminum filler and fiberglass resin & cloth material I'm using, the cost of the hardware and additional pieces, estimate all shipping and handling costs, and see how much time it takes me to assemble an entire kit. So that's why I've only been able to give a rough estimate. I also have to take into account costs like the silicone used to make the molds. For the shells alone, we used about 4 gallons of silicone, but only because we decided to use box molds for every piece in hopes the molds would maintain their true shape and last a very long time. I did receive a discount for the silicone because of the connections of the people helping me. However, using approximately 5-6 gallons of silicone for this entire project still cost me a pretty penny.

I promise I'll get you an absolute price asap (I'm shooting for the end of the week). Until then, I'm just trying to keep it in the price range already mentioned.

    thanks,
    Cruzer

Cold-cast is the casting process that was used to make the armor parts of the screen used Jango costume. Simply put, it's using aluminum filled resin as the initial coat in a mold before backing it with a coat of fiberglass. Fettpride is one of a few members here who have mastered the art of cold-casting. Some of his awesome examples can be seen in the links below:
    http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/showthread.php?t=13513
    http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/showthread.php?t=14552

Non cold-cast is using a "gel-coat" material to coat the molds before fiberglassing. This gel-coat can be either a "thick-like" paint mixture or something as simple as casting resin.

    Hope that helps, and welcome.

Re: Guaging interest in Cruzer Jango gauntlets

    Small update:

These are all cast pieces from the molds.
The shells are fiberglass backed gel-coat.
The attachments are cast in Feather Lite resin and are very light. Pieces with hose attachments have metal armatures for strength and support.
The missiles are Hyper-Firm. Thanks to the kindness of Slavefive and Postmortem, I now have the missile mold and can offer it with the gauntlets.

I've gone through about 3 test pulls of cold-cast and it looks like I finally got the correct aluminum/resin/catalyst ratio down. There is a significant improvement in the cold-cast finish produced by the aluminum from the U.K. source. What's funny is that the shipping expenses from the U.K. cost me double what the aluminum powder itself cost. The cold weather is not helping at all with the test pulls, but I'll keep trying and should be able to offer cold-cast versions after it starts to heat up a bit outside.

For now, I'm going to offer the gel-coated version to meet any immediate needs members may have. I'll start a run thread soon with the specifics/kit options.

    Thanks,
    Cruzer

No problem, I'll throw some good copies in the box with your holsters. Just give me a reminder in about a week when your holsters are ready to go out.

Psh, just pour them in your bathroom. It should be warm in there, and I believe brain cells grow back eventually
