Girth Belt Run(Interest thread)

thats fox...let me know guys what your preference is...the accurate 19 strands or go with what makes the 5 inches...i think when this is done and squeezed together and glued it may be closer to that in the long run or maybe a bit over. I think when i really pushed them tight together it was around 5 1/2 inches.

If anyone steps off the list, I'd be interested if that's ok JD?

I know HMPOTC33 has not paid me and is the only one who has not...Dentedone jumped in and grabbed his spot. I tried to contact him many times via pm and no response so i gotta get moving on this and since he had no payment and has not got back to me i had to let his spot go to another...I do have enough to make one more belt im pretty sure...but let me get these done first and see whats left. You have first dibs if there is enough. What size are you in need of.

also i know this may not be accurate, but i was thinking of putting small round eylets in my belt to have itr be stonger near the lacing...I figured it's covered by the extra leather piece anyway..if anyone is interested in that, let me know, ill throw those on for you too...

I'll have to check my size real quick and get back to you...where does one get a cloth (tailors) measuring tape?

Also, I'd probably be interested in this on it :

Yep - since I'm 5'6" then 5" should be fine - no larger.

As for eyelets - whatever you think will work.

Also, are you sill going to put snaps for the cod piece?

Seeing as this belt will be going over my holster belt ( which Cruzer made at 34" ) and then my vest, perhaps that extra inch wouldn't be such a bad idea ( so 35", just in case ). Just how much will be adjustable? I'd assume that the 35" would be at the tightest, and we could cinch the belt a bit looser/bigger if needed?

I'm totally confused on the sizing now. I measure my waist across the navel ( over a t-shirt ) and get 34".

As for the 5" to 5.5" width, it will probably be fine for me too as I'm 5'8".

I'm still in for the snaps to attach the cod piece with, and if you feel that the eyelets will be of benefit, then go for it. (y)

yup...snaps for the cod, eyelets for the lacing and i'll try and keep it all to 5-51/2 inches for everyone..i don't think it will be a problem. once they are pushed up tight and secured down they should be fine. The size you give me will be for the tightest possible that the belt will go all closed up tight in the back. You will have some play because the lace area is covered by the leather cover..which i can't remember off the top of my head how wide that is...FOX?, but im sure it will allow for an inch or two expansion of the belt and not show lacing. just be sure it's not too big because then it wont be able to be cinched up tight.

I plan on making my belt first to show how i plan to do the stuff so everyone will see what to expect...no worries

so i picked up the rest of the supplies today for the belts...i gravely underestimated the pain and work in making these things..lol

i got the bolo glued down to one in about 2 hours and my fingers are killing me from pushing them tight together..but i did manage to come up with about 5 1/4" with all 19 strands. I'll post a shot of the way it looks tomorrow..i have to get to work now. I was doing mine first but i made this one a tad small so i think jango72 or tony will get the first one..lol as they are the smaller guys ordering. I'll have to see what the final measurement will be seeing as tony is a 35 and jango72 is a 34...

so looking at cruzer's old thread it looks like he made the flap for the back about 5 inches based on my ruler to the computer sceen scaling...so I'll do the same with three snaps to close. I have both silver snaps and weathered dark grey snaps that i grabbed. not sure whats cannon but i kinda like the darker ones, which happens to be the color eyelets i grabbed too. He also had commented that the on screen version used white shoelace to lace it up in the back. I had grabbed leather lace so if you guys want to switch it out that shouldnt be a problem. It's hidden anyway and maybe the regular shoe/boot lacing may be stronger than the lace in the end and easier to tie.

Finished belt one..Jango72's 34"...man you are tiny dude! LOL

here are some shots of what everyone can expect that ordered one. I actually ended up hitting the bolo with a tad of bismark brown to soften up the redish tint but it looks good i think. The two snaps inside will be for the sides of the cod and the velcro in the center is for the holster center piece to hold everything together. I'm supplying the lace tie but like i said if you want to go with a white shoelace for screen accuracy be my guest to replace the lace! I also included in these pictures what it looks like with my seeker belt i have so you can get a feel for it with the ammo pouches... let me knwo what you guys think...my pictures came out a tad over exposed for some reason so i played with it in photoshop a bit to match the way it looks in person.

if you want to darked the leather cover and edged a bit to be more brown i would suggest using a little dark brown dye over what is there. I started with some mahogany(1 part) to cordovan(2 parts) to reducer(2 parts) and then brushed some bismark brown over that mixture as well as a touch over the bolo. I tried to match it to the contrast i could see in the reference pictures using my seeker belt shade as a starting point. I would also suggest a good weathering to this using some corse sandpaper and lightly rubbing the belt to rough it up a bit

now on to Tony's 35"er

That's simply beautiful my friend, can't wait to don it with the holster rig I recieved yesterday from Cruzer.

If for some reason that that Seeker ammo belt somehow "accidentally" makes its way into my box, I'll be sure to give it a good home. ;)

Just kidding... it's the last piece that I'll need to get, then it's just finishing the final assembly on everything. :)

And I prefer the term svelt, rather than tiny. ;)

Good looking belt. That looks like some nice bolo. I'll take a small scrap for my sample bag if you have a piece to spare.

actually i got Tony's bolo finished yesterday...then went to work from 7p-3a, got up at 6a and went back to work from 7a-4p, went home and ate supper and now im back at work again from 7p-3a, so my fingers have had a bit of a break..lol but my right index finger is still numb at the tip for some reason..I should have all the belts..including mine, done by next week. I'll try to ship out Jango72 and Tony's at the first of the week. Then I got Phil on deck, then TDO, then Ron, then me...and i will most likey if all goes well be able to ship those other three out by weeks end...hope you guys enjoy them and are happy with them when you get them.
