Gauntlet Switches

What does everyone think about these switches for the left gauntlet?

If you mounted them low with mainly the button showing and painted them black they might look pretty close. I wonder if they are too big?

I also was looking at these for the right gauntlet. The switches on that side seem to have a straight and not tapered handle from what I have seen on the reference pictures. They almost look like rotary switches or potentiometers.

If anyone has any better options let me know. Thanks.

Your best option for the toggle switches is Radio Shack and this part: http://www.radioshack.com/product/i...witch&kw=mini+toggle+switch&parentPage=search
I've ordered toggle switches from all electronics before, and they sent me plastic housed toggle switches like the ones on your link, and they aren't accurate. The ones used on the movie prop uses chromed housed toggle switches like the Radio Shack ones.

Now for the pushbuttons, I prefer to order from all electronics because at Radio Shack they only sell a package that contains 4 red tipped buttons and only 2 black. The red tipped ones are useless. The push buttons from all electronics are more accurate in my opinion than the ones at Radio Shack. However, I would order this one if you are going to order from them: http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/item/MPB-1B/search/SPST_MOMENTARY_N.O._PUSHBUTTON_.html

Hope that helps.

Thanks Cruzer. Those toggles look nice. I will have to check with another RS because, the one I looked at didn't have any that looked that nice. I like that pushbutton. It looks better than the RS one to me too. It has a taller button head where as the RS one looks a little short to me.

What did you do to mount the slide switch on the left gauntlet? I have the right one, but when I get it fit up inside the gauntlet the handle looks like it sticks out too far. Maybe it just looks like that to me.

Thanks for the help.

I read another thread regarding toggle switches. Someone has used the smaller SPST micromini toggle switch (#275-626A, 3/16" hole) from Radio Shack (They've changed their name to Circuit City/The Source in Canada).

Anyway does it matter... what size is more accurate the?

Also doe Radio Shack carry the 12V red blinking LEDs?

Radio Shack carries a few different mini-toggle switches that will work. I think the difference between two of them being either double throw or single throw. Either way, they both work.

For the LED, Halo_1 has access to the most accurate chromed housing, and any type of mini blinking LED will fit inside of it.

I ordered a dozen from him a while back and have a few extra. PM me if you need one.(y)

FettFanatic, sorry I forgot to post what I did with the slider switch. I pulled the aluminum sleeve off and shorten it to the desired length using a dremel cut off wheel. I then sliced off a center section of the plastic stem and glued the end with the grooves to the inside tip of the aluminum sleeve, and glued it all together.

Thanks for the answer on the toggle switches.
Okay... now for the dumb question. Is the "light" on the left gauntlet even suppose to blink?

Sorry for my ignorance but this whole lights, switches and wiring stuff is kind of new to me.

I just use a solid light.I do not believe they are supposed to blink, at least the ones I use don't.
As for the red pushbuttons.i just slap some flack black on them and seal em.Problem solved.
They don't really need to be heavy duty as they are really just for looks anyway.
I would go to e-bay for toggles.Look for standard chromed toggles, with a 1/4 inch screw post.
I got 10 of em for like $6, lot cheaper than RS

Thanks for the response Cruzer. I didn't even think about going that route to shorten the slide. I am going to have to do that to mine.

As far as the led goes I don't think we have any clear shots to show if it blinks or stays on steady. I would say use the one you prefer.
