My first post in years.
But what I have always done is spaced out the holes evenly with a pin or marker, drilled the holes with the correct size drill bit, made sure they fit correctly and adjusted as needed, paint the gauntlet, and then just used any 2-3 min epoxy I had on hand. 10 years later my first set of gauntlets still have the darts on them even if the rest of it is falling apart.

Myself, I just used hot glue. quick and easy. you have to fix them in place with a smaller amount first, let it cool and then add more to lock them in.
Epoxy would be less hassle with no movement as it's setting unlike the hot glue.
Build my Gaunts many years ago and I've had no movement either.

I'd say both above are good points. Definitely start with the correct sized hole.
i like to be able to insert the dart with minimal force, then use hot glue or a very small amount of epoxy or CA glue( very small amount). I like to know that I could get the darts out if needed without destroying the gauntlet shells and they won't fall out either....

I would give one warning regarding hot glue. The use of this depends on where you live. If you live in Texas as I do then DO NOT use it. The temp during a troop can easily reach a point where the glue will release. I have seen this happen on many costumes. It doesn't even have to be all that hot. Your body heat plus sun shining on the gauntlets will be enough to melt the glue if you are trooping in weather that is 85 and up. I have done some troops in 95-100 degree heat and at that point the glue is guaranteed to fail.

I would have to agree on the Texas thing.lol I live in south Texas and I wont use hot glue on costume items. At least costume items that have stress on them.

I always forget the woes of extreme weather and hot glue issues. Mind you I used to sticks of glue to fully embed them into place..
It has to be said though, hot glue should never be used on anything structural, I find it great for doing test fits or making mockups and even using for making box molds, I find hot glue can peal off easily even when it's not hot, so it's not what I would call a good glue. I do have a large industrial hot glue gun which uses a "tacky" hot glue that's almost impossible to remove and has a higher melt point.

Yeah Dude, Just throwing that in, I've seen some use got glue like a magic fix all... Not on here just when I was doing an art degree....
