final fitting before San Diego ADJUSTED SHOULDERS need opinions

Got my Ladysewforus suit all dyed. The color is really sharp, it will fade with time and washing. New Cruzer cold cast upper body armor/ helmet on a new Ladysewforus vest. A final fitting was needed so I can make identify any adjustments that need to be made before San Diego Comic Con.

    Things to fix:

    1) The shin armor was sagging. I was wearing sport socks, so the elastic straps were against my bare leg. That won't happen with regular socks.
    2) the back plate hangs way over the girth belt. Trim backplate a touch.
    3) I'm currently running 23 bolo cords on the girth. I went taller to be proportional to the taller ammo pouches, to be proportional to my 6 Ft height.( No offense to you accurate sized Jango people.). I think I'm going to trim off one cord from the top.

Anyone see anything else that needs to be fixed or adjusted?

Cruzer is funny. I'm pretty sure he's shorter than Jango. I keed, I keed.

Craig, I was skeptical that the upgrades would make much difference because your previous suit was really great. I have to say that your upgrades look fantastic! There's a huge difference, and the armor looks great! Well done.

The fitting of the suit makes a huge difference. The other suit was baggy and gave a short "dumpy" look. This one fits like la 2nd skin and changes the whole look. Does it make my butt look fat?

Re: final fitting before San Diego

I just got a comment from Jango72 over at the 501st forums. He pointed out the shoulders should be rotated more forward. I agree with that, but only to a certain extent. I'm 6-00+ 240 lbs. Not exactly accurate Jango size. The armor is a set size. For me to have the vest shoulders made and attached at the accurate points would make the shoulder armor look small. I already had the shoulders rotated forward of center before I attached the armor. To go more, in my opinion, would make the suit look like it didnt have any shoulders from the back. I probably have the armor spread a little on the wide side to help cover my taller torso. All of these size adjustments will make the shoulders appear to be even farther from the correct point. I'm pretty thick from front to back, my last sport coat was a 51", so I try to find a happy medium and do the best with what I've got. I'm a too big for Jango and not big enough for my Vader. My first choice was a Jawa, but eventually settled on Jango.

Re: final fitting before San Diego

I guess you miss understood what I meant. I didn't mean for you to rotate the shoulders forward, but rather to have a new leather shoulder part made that's a bit wider at the sides. Seeing as I can't draw worth beans with photoshop, I'll try to explain in words as best I can.

Your current vest shoulder is shaped like a U ( if you look at it from a birds-eye angle ). My suggestion is to widen/stretch out the top of the U, so that the sides will extend further down the side of the vest. Which will give the visual impression of the shoulders being bigger.

If that still doesn't make any sense, please let me know so that I can hand draw you a horrible picture and scan it.

And for the record... I'm pretty sure that Cruzer is shorter then Tem. Please don't hit me Cruz.

I know we all have our set ways and reasons why we do things, but I think what Jango72 was suggesting is this. The first green line on the picture of you illustrates where the leather shoulder pad should be. I also understand that you're are a bigger guy and maybe suggest to get a bigger shoulder armor and make the leather shoulder wider too. I could be easily made by just widening it. Sintra is an awesome tool.

The second green line illustrates the "U" shape Jango72 reffers too.

I'm not really sure if you were looking for constructive critisim, but hope this helps your goal.

YES!!!! Thanks Turo, that's exactly what I was trying to explain. You just explained it much more eloquently that I did... in truth, you're pictures did.

I personally think that he should still be able to use his current shoulder armor. He'll know more once the vest shoulders have been altered to better suit his body.

oooooo very astute! I personally LOVE the constructive criticism. With this vest, I met personally with Craig and made this vest with his direction.

    This is very helpful.

Craig, if I can help tweak this at all, please let me know.

I am going to look more carefully at my next two vests that have been completed.

Re: final fitting before San Diego ADJUSTED SHOULDERS need opinions

shoulders are a little shorter in length, the same size I had before, just rotated forward about an 1". Looks good to me from the front, but I'm not sure from the sides and back. My only other option is to make the shoulders bigger to meet at the right place and make some bigger shoulder armor to cover those new bigger shoulders.

    SEEKER, Donny let's hear it.

Yeah, it looks better in the front. The shoulders on mine are admittedly not perfect, its a hard thing to nail down especially with different body sizes.

I don't think that there's any way around it... you'll have to go with the bigger shoulders and shoulder armor. That's what I had to do with mine, I had to increase the size of my shoulder armor by 15%, and it made a world of difference.

In my defense I worked very closely with Donny on his shoulder bells.

Today I received my vest from Ladysewforus and the construction is beautiful. I did attach one of the shoulder armors and I had the same issue...the sleeve (part where the armor is attached) was too small as well. I already passed along the recommendation the sleeve should be about 2.5" wider (1.25" in the front and 1.25" in the back) than what I have on mine. So I'm sure the vests from this point forward will be perfect with Debbi's attention to detail and desire for accuracy! I've decided to go ahead and use mine for SDCC, but I also can't wait to start working on my v2 with Debbi!

You can blame me for that. The shoulder bells are based on my custom made ones. I feel I got the shape right, it just needs to be larger.

No blame at all with anyone. I think they're great for a first attempt and I probably won't even end up changing mine because they work and look pretty good with the armor on. I'm just thankful we have Ladysewforus so close to home and she's so wonderful to work with.:thumbup

Hey Y'all. I REALLY appreciate all of the feedback. I have some comments.

I did not make Cruzers sleeves the same as Donny's. Yes, Donny's were a bit small. I made Donny's sleeves to match his armor. Donny help me with the template for his sleeve.

Cruzer sent his armor to me. He had seen Craig's vest in person and told me it was very close to what was needed. So I modified the original sleeve pattern that I used for Craig's.

I have Craig's new sleeves attached and boxed to ship back to him tomorrow.

I just had an idea, Lorenzo, I could make some new sleeves and send only them to you, if you want to attach them. I have enough of your leather scraps.

Loanstar makes a wonderful Jango Vest

Thanks everyone for working out the details!

Oh and Lorenzo, I don't think you need a V2, unless you would just prefer that. I could adjust the sleeves on your current vest, whenever you are ready.

But do let me know about me sending you new sleeves.

Oh and Donny, you did get the shape right. There was one more little change. I used your template to make the mods that I did. But again, The sleeve that I made for Craig and for Lorenzo was larger than yours. No worries there.

    Your input helped me tremendously!

I am very flattered to have the "big kids" helping me with this!

I'm very happy with how my leather vest turned out after putting on all of the armor. Don't let the blue jumpsuit fool you...it's going to be replaced with a grey Open Seasons color very soon!

    Thanks Ladysewforus!

Top notch work on the part of LadySewforus. You can tell a true craftman by how they are willing to make things perfect... or as perfect as possible.

On the topic of differing body sizes amongst the Jango costumers, I'm sure that it has become all too apparent, that even in spite all of us altering our armor to fit our body sizes better we've all seemed to over look altering/adjusting the size of the shoulder armor.

I guess we can all chock this up to a new lesson learned.

Soon bro, soon. Hopefully just in time for SDCC. If it can look almost as good as everyone's here, I'll be happy.:thumbup

Jango5204...be sure to post some new pics of the vest and your armor when it arrives!

Sorry for the hijacks, but thanks for giving us a place to share ideas, opinions, etc.

If the off shoots are for the betterment of everyone involved, I'd hardly call them Hijacks.

I agree. A little show-off thread brought out a lot of good discussion, which will benefit the whole group.

Re: final fitting before San Diego ADJUSTED SHOULDERS need opinions

Just got the vest back today. Look at the comparison, what a difference. ( Original on left, new on right ) Thanks to Deb and Mark for making it happen so quickly. Looks like Foxbatkllr, Cruzer and I will all be sporting the Ladysewforus vests / Cruzer armor combos at the LFL Sithlord/ bountyhunter shoot at Comic Con.

    Nailed it!!!

Looks ten times better now. It's just like my thread title in this section points out, small tweeks and adjustments really can make a huge difference!

And what's this about a photo shoot?!? At times like these, I really dread living up here in Canada.

Re: final fitting before San Diego ADJUSTED SHOULDERS need opinions

Mary Franklin with LFL is organizing different group photoshoots with a professional photographer at Comic Con in San Diego next week. They have them broken into groups, like stromtroopers, clonetroopers, Sithlords and Bounty hunters, ect.... There's a stage that is provided for people to use as a hub for pictures. It was in front of Hasbro last year, I think. It's for the Star Wars people to stand on the stage in one place rather than walk around and get stopped every 2 seconds and end up blocking the walkways, and being told by the security to "move along".

That organized photo shoot is a great idea!! I wish that they'd do that up here at FanExpo, when it takes almost 10 to 15 mins just to walk across a hallway, something needs to be done.

I barely made it more than 3 or 4 steps between pictures last year.
