I finally had a chance to start work on this. There is some fine tuning to be done but I think it is almost there.
Discussion on Dented Jango Helmet within the Jango Fett Costume forum, part of the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy Bounty Hunters category; I finally had a chance to start work on this.

pretty cool. just a little smaller. try not to make the edges that sharp. the size looks good, but the whole looks a little deep.
I cant wait to get this.

here's a couple of images to help out a bit. maybe you already have them.
It is pretty hard to compare something three dimensional to a two dimensional picture. I think the depth is good, but I agree, I have to close in the top of the dent a litlle more & soften those edges.

Man...those progress pics are getting me all excited!!!...can't wait to get mine.![]()
Hey Turo wheres that last shot from, is that a deleted scene? Looks like Geonosis?
Yeah I guess it was a deleted scene. I guess George Lucas knew that if Jango would had used his Westars against Mace Windu, we wouldn't had missed. So Lucas decided to go with the flame thrower.Originally Posted by HeadlessHunter

if you look closley jangos dent is sorta a dent within a depression. theres that weird flatish spot surrounding the dent. will you be doing that on your helmet?Originally Posted by bigkidbiggertoys
I can see that in the pics but I am not so sore it is a flat spot. Since Mirax has seen this helmet in person, perhaps she can confirm/deny this?
Don't know wether it's worth mentioning this or not but as you are still fine tuning I noticed that the shorter blue stripe appears to end at more of an angle on the original and parallel with the base on yours.
Could be something simple like photo taken at slightly different angle or just me being wrong (probably me)
Man I wish I could afford one of these bad boys.
First off, that is AMAZING! Your work is wonderful. I'm not trying to critisize or anything, but in Seeker's 2nd refrence picture, you will notice sort of scratches around the dent. I don't know if you had noticed those or not, but I figured I could point them out. Once again, AMAZING WORK.
I think that is the flat area that was pointed out earlier. Could be scratches I suppose, but how would these have happened if Jango just bumped his head?![]()
Looking sweet I can't wait to get mine either.
jango didnt bump his head on Slave 1. if thats what you meant. he had the dent WAY b4 he even boarded Slave 1. heres the thread that shows this. BTW theres alot of good ref pics for your dent in here. http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f28/dent-always-there-10385/Originally Posted by bigkidbiggertoys
Ok I am a little closer now. The dent looks off because my camera angle differs, I'll try some more pics again this weekend. I also got it on good authority that the area surrounding the dent isn't a shallower dent, probably scratches. I actuially get the exact same effect when the 1st coat of primer goes on, it sinks into the filler leaving a ghost line. Perhaps this is the same effect, I would imagine that the dents were carved into 3 of the 6 helmets used for shooting rather than a whole new master & mold being made. Just speculation on my part.

Not to be pushy, buuuuut..... Any updates?
Quick update. I had a second pair of eyes examine the helmet & critique it. I am satisfied with it now & will start the molding process this weekend. I hope to have the mold finished & begin casting these up next week.
Awsome! Will these be the same price as the non-dented helmet? Your work freaks me out BKBT! Fabulious job!

I think I said you get #
1
But yes, this will be a limited run. It looks like I am going to get smacked with a bunch of work so the prop making will have to take a back seat again![]()
...hehehehe!!!![]()
...hey Vince having work is a good thing![]()
Take care
Lewis<--- the beers we will enjoy when y'all come out here!!!
Damm Nice bucket..I may want a Dented version someday soon.
Sweet! can't wait to see it.
You're fast bro! Great work!
The mold is now finished & I am starting to lay up the first helmet. I have another busy schedule this week so I'll get pics up probably Tuesday night of the first pull & then I'll be settling up some old scores![]()
Man I can't wait to get this helmet I am so excited.
Pics of the first helmet pulled will be up later tonight.
The angle might not be right but you get the general idea. This will probably be a very limited run if work keeps going the way it has been!
What a Beaut!!! Is it too late to change my order?![]()
Just kidding, I got a notice in the mail tonight that said my helmet will be at the post office for pick up tomorrow after 7 a.m. because no one was home to receive it. Might as well punch me in the gut!
Looks like I'm going to have to miss work tomorrow![]()
Looks amazing BKBT![]()

OOOOO NOW I AM REALLY EXCITED!!!!!! Thanks Vince I can't wait for it to get here.
Ok so my helmet came in a few days ago to my friends house and I just got it tonight. WOW!!!! I am so happy with it Vince you did an amazing job with it and I can't wait to start working on it. Thank you very much! And I got #2 of the run that is awesome.
Well I got my Dented Helmet Friday and had a chance to start working on it. As I was cutting the visor out I noticed something that would like to get opions on.
As you can see from this pic the top part of the visor is smaller/narrower on the BKBT helm then what SWC is using. It is smaller/narrower than JD or the Rubies. Is this right? which size to correct? The BKBT helm is a pleasure to own and I want to do it justice in painting it up, but if the visor area should be a bit wider, then I want to do the mod for visibility.
The pics from SWC is of the actual helmet. It is a simple matter if you want to open up the visor area a little more. Pencil in a straight line to follow, trim close to it with your dremmel & finish off with a large flat file.
Bingo, I second what BKBT said. When working on my helmets, I use one of those thin metal rulers that bend to give me an accurate and straight line from the bottom of the outside of the visor to the inner upper cheek area. I would suggest making your lines with a thin-line writing sharpie pen before you cut out the visor area. A line drawn with it is not as prone to rubbing off as pencil, and I have noticed that a helmet is subject to warpage and skewing a little once it has set a while with the visor area cut out. So I'd try to mark your line before cutting into that beautiful work of art.
P.s. I cut the visor on my BKBT right where the precut line is but eventually it got filed down a little more with the file. I wouldn't suggest going more than an 1/8" of an inch wider because once it's gone...it's gone for good. I've actually cut a visor area out too much on a helmet before and it wasn't fun.![]()

I had to ask... The helmet is really nice and don't want to mess it up.
Process pics to follow later.
All orders shipped. I'll be contacting each person with a tracking #
That's a sweet bucket, want one. PM sent.

WHOOT! Dented helmet in the house! Only problem is, I can't see through the visor area... I KID, I KID!
Thanks Vince!
I just measured my "Jango pull" and this distance is exactly 20mm. If you need any more measurements just let me know.
Have fun

Anyone have any insights?? I am fighting the urge to place the ear cap high..
Place the cap low. If you examine the Boba helmet, you'll see that his is in the upper postion.
The dent looks a tad too wide.
That is one of the older in-progress pics you are looking at. Scroll up a bit & you will see the finished product with a smaller dent & in a slightly different position.
so BKBT, when we gunna see one of these puppys painted up?![]()

I don't think Vince has a chance to get that far in the process.. I think they leave faster than he can paint them. I just got mine, it is number 5, so there are not that many out there atm.
I got #3 and I am taking my time with it. Only spending 30 - 40 minutes ata time with it, so I do not rush.![]()
Now if I took a day or two off from work I would have this puppy done.![]()
Bluewolf is right, I'd love to have the time to paint one of these up for myself, but other priorites exist![]()
I have to set aside a couple of days & do some commando prop making, that is the best way for me to get anything done!![]()
