Ah yeah, if it wasn't for the international shiping I'd go there too...
BUT the ebay guy is the best I've found in the UK so far.

Hi Guys,

Sorry to drop in like this but I noticed your links in our eBay stats and as a good mate of mine used to be in the Sealed Knot you captured my interest.

If anyone is interested we have now listed all our braided BOLO leathers (both flat and round braids).

All are available in any length (up to 10m anyway) and several colours. If anyone is interested just PM or email me. 15% discount if you mention The Dented Helmet. Hope I haven't broken any forum rules with this post, if I have sorry Admin. :facepalm

I don't think you have broken any forum rules. Several members offer discounts when you mention TDH. By offering the leather braids, you are actually fillilng a void in the Jango realm.

I braided mine by hand. It took a really long time and it was a huge pain in the you-know-what. Each braid should be 1/4" or 6mm thick, making 20 braids about 5 inches wide.

If looking for leather cord that is screen accurate, you'll need to go with a 4-ply braid that's 6 mm in diameter. The MJ Trim stuff is actually a six ply and about 5 mm in diameter.

There's actually a member here that makes some dang good braid that I've seen in person. However, he's never offered it up that I know of. It's the best I've ever seen, but depending on what type of leather Steve uses...he may have a contender!

Thanks Steve for signing on as this is a big void here as someone else already mentioned. I'd be interested in seeing some pics of what you have to offer in those specific dimensions.

Just some FYI for everyone.

Hi Cruzer,

I've just had the digital calipers out to see how we measure up. Our 5mm braid comes in at around 5mm in diameter and our 6mm is around 6.2 to 6.3mm in diameter. All our Bolo is 4 ply. Below is a pic of the 5mm braid in dark brown. We also have red, natural and, of course, black. I've included a close up of the natural leather in 6mm. We can pretty much provide any colour you like but it can take up to 6 weeks to suppy as we have our leathers made specifically for us at the tannery and so it depends on the time of the month when we place our major order. We can also match the braid with round leathers for lacing etc. if needed in 0.5mm, 1mm, 2mm, 3mm and 5mm thicknesses; (we carry 23 colours in round leather cord).

Hope that answers most questions but if you have any more please fire away.

Thanks Steve.

Actually it looks like that natural 6mm bolo is exactly like what I'd use. I'd be interested in pricing for a single 25 yard roll of that, and then interested in knowing if the pricing would adjust for much larger orders, i.e. 200-300 yards?

Also another area of concern for me is how the joint areas look on the bolo. I doubt that's what they are called, but basically where new leather is started within the roll. Are those areas bulky and somewhat unsightly or are they clean?

Thank you for all of this good information,
Lorenzo

It's a pleasure. I can talk for hours about leather. ;)

I've sent you a PM. I've taken a picture of a join for you. Obviously the individual strands are staggered for strength so you only get one strand join at any point. In fact it is really hard to find a join, you have to study the leather really close up. The end of a strand is also glued down making finding a join that much harder. The picture below shows one such join. I have had to tease the join apart sideways a little to get it to show up in the picture otherwise it didn't show at all.

You certainly won't see any unsightly lumps and bumps even if you study the bolo from 12" away in good light. :)

That does look really good and a lot better than others I've seen and have.

I'd be interested in seeing a roll of 25 yards up close. What's the expected time until shipped for something like that?

Thanks,
Lorenzo

We have packages shipping out to the States practically every day. Delivery usually takes anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks with a little over a week being normal. Fastest we ever had was 48 hours but that was to Canada.

If you mean how soon we can fulfil an order then within 24 hours usually. Most of our current stock is in the more popular 3mm and 5mm but we have enough 6mm in available to meet most needs.
