Ok then, I'll work the information with the maker and post updates as things progress. The intent isn't to offer these on my own but make them available from the maker to folks that need/want them. I have no idea what cost would be or time involved so please let's not go down that road.

I appreciate your need and I can't speak for the maker but right now I'm focusing on just the Jango boot as a whole.

You should start your own thread, as this one has been started by Gee2 specifically for the purpose of gauging interest in the possibly of working something out with another maker.

Sorry for the confusion BK, I have an established bootmaker that currently produces other boots (Boba, troopers, etc.) that happens to be local and I'm going to work on the feasability of them producing a Jango boot as part of their product line for those of us that "missed the boat" or need new pairs.

I am interested in Boots, count me in. But I thought in the past it maker said no. Hope that is not the case. We need good boots

Ok folks I made contact with one of their reps today, she stated that she believes it would be possible and not a major hassle to put them together. There would of course be some minor differences due to copyright, but nothing that would detract from the majority of the boot components.
They requested images of the original and I have sent off three e-mails at about 4 megs each with every image from TDH and anyplace else I could find of the original KC boots. My plan is to contact them every 7-10 days barring them gettting in touch with me to keep the momentum on this going. As I hear something I will pass it on here.

Do you want some pics of a size 10 KC shoes with a ruler in inches? I don't have the boots, but I can take pics of the sole since its the same, so you can have more reference, and with a ruler.

That is interesting, at this point I guess we wait to hear an answer back and then go from there. Judging by the responses here and some of the pms I've received we have about 35-40 folks looking for boots, but nothing near 500 or 1000.
I just find it hard to swallow that other folks have had sucessful runs from smaller bootmakers for boots that are "like" and an established maker that has ties to our little "costuming group" would pass on making some

however, if they start saying we need more numbers, might be worth posting on clonetroopers.net/galactic marine section, clone-empires and bikerscout.net/kashyyyk trooper section.

alternatively, I post on those forums quite regularly too, and can do it on ur behalf to try and stir up more interest - esp.ly if u are going for KC type boot, I am sure aspiring Jangos, Galactic marines AND kashyyyk troopers might help build numbers?

I'd be interested for both Jango and a Galactic Marine BUT.....I'd need them in a men's size 5. I know they currently make trooper boots that size ('cuz I have them) but they won't do Boba boots that small. I'm not holding my breath but would appreciate it if you wouldn't mind asking about the possibility. Thanks!

Definitely; my plan (queue evil maniacal laugh) is to get them to produce these along side their other costume boots line with sizes and options for the different groups that need them.

None, at this point only a request has been made to the bootmaker for the possibility of making the boots along with reference shots provided to them. As more information comes available (sizes, price, etc.) I'll update the first thread.

I might be interested in a pair of Jango boots if the price is reasonable.

I didn't know Rex uses Jango boots? I thought only GM's & BARC's wear those?

Rex doesn't. I just thought that for some troops I would alter my Rex to be an Arc, Scout or standard Clone. I'd prefer to keep my options open basically.

That's good news, Gee2. So these are going to be replicas of the Pit Crews... I want to trust them, but in all this time, they've still never done an accurate version of the Stormtrooper boots, I am wary. You better not sign off on this until they get it right.

I was told very soon, but wasn't given a date. Apparently the first prototype is based on the BARC trooper boot.

I am interested in a Galactic Marine size 12 (if they fit true to size).

Folks,

I want to review the situation so that everybody that is interested understands what's going on with the boot project and where it stands. I know everyone is anxious to see the prototype (due to the pms and e-mail that I'm receiving) as am I, but I need everyone to stay frosty.

The prototype is in its final stage, pictures will be forthcoming (as I get them you will get them). I will not be the deciding factor on how they look or how accurate they are, I will take all suggestions/ideas that are put forth (within reason) and submit them to the maker.

I am not taking orders, sizes or even putting a list of buyers together to broker a deal with the bootmaker. If you choose to order boots after they are ready for retail sale than that's your call, but I am not the "middle man". I just wanted a pair of accurate boots, provided the research info, le tthe maker know there was a fairly large group of folks interested and have acted as a POC so that the maker was not bombarded with requests on the same project.

Again, as I get new information I will continue to update the first post.

I love the top part of the boot but since much of it can't be seen in costume for Jango, it's all about having the right sole. It would be nice if they could get that closer...it's all in the arch.

Better than a pair of Star Fortress...but nowhere near the real deal.

It's not all bad, but would like to see a closer to accurate sole. That's really the only way those things are going to sell like crazy.

Who makes these boots? Does anyone have a boot from Star Fortress to compare? I know all the stories about them, just want to see a pic that's all. There site shows a grainy pic that is hard to compare.

If they could even some how get the soles that were produced for the Journeys GBX boots, that would be a closer type of sole than this one.

It's completely missing the high-cut arch.





The toe should also be more square shaped at the tip.

Here's some pics of my GBX boots, which are closer than the current prototypes in my opinion.




Perhaps the proper tread is still out there, or at least a closer one like the GBX tread.

Come to think of it... that tread that they have on the prototype would work better for a Zam boot. It seems rather close to a Prada.

As I expected it’s unanimous that the sole is the deal breaker. I will be visiting the boot shop Friday if they are open (Monday if not) and will take my pair of Bed Stu's with for a up close and personal with the maker. I can’t guarantee anything but I will make the case as best possible that without the correct sole it’s a no go.

To me, the top part of the boot looks "pretty close"... which is close enough for me.

It's definitely the sole. If the correct or close to correct sole can be found, then I'd be in for at least one, or perhaps two pairs.

Ok, I've gone back and forth with the POC. I explained the issue with th esole and its importance, and they are very cognizant of our needs and are very willing to work with us. The tan sole on the prototype is as close as they can get, for the tan boots. However, there are some other options for the black soled boots, and it may be possible to place the other sole options on the tan boots as well.
The owner, the lassiter (sp?) and the POC are all set up for a meeting with me next Friday where we will discuss what "has to be" and "what we can live with". As I said I will be taking my pair to give them a hands on, along with all the gathered reference we have for the boots and will hopefully get this sorted so that folks can rely on them for an accurate boot replica.

Thanks for being a bulldog on this, Gee2. I think the trapezoidal detail on the arch is non-negotiable on the black or tan versions. The Galactic Marine/Kashyyyk Trooper boots both have the tan/wheat sole, and their toecap (look at mrbungle's thread in the Clonetrooper section) is designed to interact with the edge of the sole -- including that upward projection.

Great work. If you needed various sole sizes I'm sure you could find people here that would be willing to send you the shoe to make a copy of the mid- sole detail. I have a size 13 Kenneth cole. The main sole is worn, but the mid-detail is intact.
