Battle Damaged Jango (pic heavy)

Just wondering what you guys thought about a battle damaged Jango bucket. ??
This is my first atempt at doing anything creative with painting so I am not expecting miracles but something that would look good just for display using the Boba weathering for reference.

The antenna is my first test piece and I am quite pleased with it so far.
For the silver it's Plasti-Kote Metallic, the blue's Halfords (all spray cans) and the Susan Scheewe blue masking fluid.
I am going to use silver rub 'n buff for the main colour and hopefully the Metallic damage will be noticable against each other (if that make's sense).

I have started masking the bucket so will hopefully have some progress shots up later tonight......

Edit... Right I have masking finished and applied the liquid mask.
When dry I will remove some of the fluid I'm not happy with and start to paint tomorrow.

looks good. That's what I'm doing with my Jango. When ever i get scratches on the helmet, armor etc, I leave it permanent.

Thanks guys.

I have done the dark blue layer and will be leaving it to dry for a few more days before remasking/liquid masking for the lighter blue.
The blue masking tape left behind residue (supposed to be able to leave it on for 14 days without any...) but that's ok as the majority of silver will be r 'n b.

The only thing that's wet was the latex so my guitar was safe but thanks for the concern

Anyways...

well, I love the job...but IMO, its a bit over exagerated.....

maybe if u could 'lessen' the damage...

I do plan on toning it down a bit with the top coat. I just thought it would be easier to cover up the damage instead of having to scrape paint off to reveal more.

true artist...

cant wait!

Pooper. It looks like you are off to a fantastic start. In my opinion, Jango looks ,ore sterile and I would prefer to see mre damage and scratches on the armor.

Very original indeed. Now I'm picturing Jango having survived the Clone Wars and onto further mischief with Boba in the OT. Looking forward to more updates.

hmm... looks great!

inspires me to do something I've always wanted to do...

paint a bucket in complete Boba colours and exact weathering... then... where Boba's silver scratches are you make Jango's colours and symbols... so you can see the pin stripes for example back in Boba's silver scratches... am I making sense here??

keep going on this!! I recommend some washes and misting layers :cheers

er... I thought that Boba got his own armour, he left Jango (and armour) where he fell, as instructed.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I haven't done anything with it for a bit because I'm having major work done to the house but before I go to bed tonight I am going to start masking it up again for more painting tomorrow.
Hopefully have some pics up in a day or two.

My Jango costume is covered from head to foot in dust because the workmen turned up a bit unexpected and started to knock my bathroom down (they were meant to build another downstairs first) so I haven't had a bathroom for 2 week. It becomes annoying having to scrounge showers off the neighbours.

Ok todays update:

I am happy with the results so far, the following pics were taken right after removing the masking fluid so I haven't tidied the peeled up edges yet.

I'll leave the paint to dry for a few days then mask it all back up to redo the dark blue then rub 'n' buff the silver. The final job will be tracking down where I left the pinstriping.

For the larger pics go here: Photobucket

Hope you like :)

any update?

Well I only have the silver left to do now after repainting all the dark blue. Due to work going on in the house I have not had my mind on it but will finish it soon.
Thought people weren't interested as the only response I got from the last update was from yourself. :cry
