2nd Cruzer Jango backplate run open 6 PM on 8/2!

Ok guys, I'm finishing up the last of previous orders and only have a few more weeks before it's time to head back to work. A handful of people have contacted me about needing a backplate since the close of the last run. So it's got to be now or much later if I'm to do any more runs. The mold is showing signs of wear and is probably good for about another dozen pulls before I won't pull from it anymore due to quality reasons. So...

...I'll open up a run of 10 backplates at 6:00 P.M. (PDT) on Thursday, August 2nd.

The reason I'm postponing the opening of this run is to allow everyone a chance to become aware of it, decide if they need one, and get paid.:cheering

Prices will still be $95 shipped in the U.S. If you live outside of the U.S. you can hold a spot on the list by sending in a payment of $95 and then we can figure out the additional shipping charges soon thereafter. Production will start about a week (how long it takes to get the resin) after the list closes and the order for resin is placed. This run is promised to go a lot faster due to me not having girthbelt, holster, and bolo orders going simultaneously. I estimate producing 3-4 backplates a week, and then shipping them out in small waves on Saturdays.

I'll post my paypal addy now, but please do not send in any payments until after the opening time or I'll refund your $$ and put you on the "tried to cut at the head of the line" naughty Mando list.:b:lol

I'm also in the last few weeks of summer vacation with my kids, so please understand that I'm only doing this for you guys because so many people have contacted me with a need. So please be patient with me if I am shy a backplate one week because the little Mandos wanted daddy to take them fishing one morning or camping overnight.;)

Thanks, I made the change. I thought it was called Pacific Standard Time. Shows how much I know about time zones.

I don't think it'll go too fast. There were only about 6-8 people that had contacted me, so hopefully 10 slots is enough to fill the need. But you're right it could get ugly if that's not enough. In that case, I'll be standing by to confirm the slots and close the list when necessary.

Hey guys, bobafett669 was kind enough to remind me today that we need an update of this run. The mold is "tired" after almost 20 pulls, and is taking a little more effort to pull from. Based on the run list, #1-4 will go out tomorrow with #5 starting tonight. Depending on real-life obligations, I'm only getting to pull one backplate roughly every 2-3 days. I'll continue to plug away at them and update when I can.
Any questions, let me know. And if the time frame isn't working for anyone and they need to be dropped from the list and refunded...no problem.:thumbsup

Hi Rob, it would take enough interest in another run (approx. 10 orders) to justify the costs of making another mold. This mold has seen the last of its days and really was not made as effectively as possible. A solid silicone mold would be ideal in my opinion, but then we're looking at about $300 in silicone.

However, there is a possibility that my backplate master is going to be molded this weekend by the Sci-fire crew for the purposes of making cold cast pulls. If so, I could probably swing a couple of regular resin copies from it, but I wouldn't want to do too many in order to maintain the mold's integrity for cold casting.:thumbsup

Depending on the time frame, ( read - I curently am broke ) I'd be interested. I'm not entirely confident on how a scratch built one will turn out, even with using WoF templates.

I would also be interested if you make another mold to do fibreglass ones again, especially if it was to coincide with the gauntlets so the postage was not too much to the UK.

Yeah, most of the sintra or styrene scratch built backplates I've come across looked like those usually seen on ebay. Though very economical, they usually aren't very accurate.

Your comment does bring up a good question. Would there be interest in vacformed copies of my backplate sculpt that are more economical? Unintentionally, I've only considered users of fiberglass armor, and failed to consider the many people who use some sort of plastic type armor. It would be good if I could meet the latter's backplate needs as well.

I'm going to check my resources to see if I can even find access to a vacform machine that would be large enough.

Between the gauntlet runs and holsters, I probably haven't played in over a month. I do need to log on one of these nights though and take a break.:thumbsup

I haven't been able to get down to the sci-fire shop to make a new/better mold for my backplates. However, for those desperate needs, I can still pull backplates from my old mold, but it's a little tougher to pull them out of the mold and they usually develop a few cracks in the gel-coat layer due to the permanent fg jacket shrinking a bit on me. With a little CA glue the cracks are repaired and sealed permanently, but still.

im waiting for the new mold...keep me posted bud!

Hey Seeker, What is that around the snaps? Is it CA glue you used to attach the snaps or something different?

It looks like Special-T CA glue (green label).
It works perfectly for me for this application.:thumbsup
