Here we go guys with my in progress ally armor :fettrotj
looking good so far man! Are you making ROTJ or SE?
ROTJ but have another 2 sets ready to panel and bend so may do a SE and a ESB but hey just enjoying the making at the mo :-)
Cool man! Well the shape of the armor looks solid. I don't really have much else to say about the armor until more pics surface! Keep it up!
:thumbsup
For the ROTJ Hero armor don't forget all the dents, even the one on the right chest plate which is often missing on almost all the fan made ROTJ suits.

The DaG (Dressing a Galaxy) suit is (almost) the same with the MoM (Magic of Myth) and SWtE (Star Wars the Exibition) suits. The ROTJ Hero jetpack is on the AoSW (Art of Star Wars) and C-IV (Celebration IV) exibit suit.
Cheers guys for the thumbs ups and thanks Raf for the pics will add more pics as i go :cheers
That's funny Raf, I put that dent in my first ESB armor back when I was a newb and didn't understand proper reference photos.
As for the plates, they seem a bit flat to me. I'd have to see them on a vest to be sure but make sure that they fit the curvature of your body properly and don't stick out too much on the sides, especially the ab plate. Shoulders seem to have a good curve though :) keep it up
Thanks for input apolofika i am looking to place on to vest today so can make the adjustments , thanks again :thumbsup
85% complete on back armor just a little more welding and shaping , more pics soon ;)
Well here's the back ( still needs a little finishing ) and neck on flack :fettrotjAttachment 59344Attachment 59345Attachment 59346Attachment 59347Attachment 59348Attachment 59349Attachment 59350Attachment 59351Attachment 59352
Great progress! Looking good.
Chest armor first placement (all advice welcome :cheers)
looking good Jake..
The back plate and collar plates (where they meet at shoulders) seem like they need a little 'fairing' in to each other.
Any chance you can get a pic with the vest and armour on you? would give a better indication of plate size to your frame?
But I like the depth you've done to the plates.
Didn't know you were a scummer... :lol (jk)
Yeah as soon as i get a chance but to give you an idea i'm 6'1" . Don't tell me you're a skate mojofett or you'll have to be my first bounty ;) :fettrotj
Great work so far man! Don't forget to add the dents in the armor!
Keep it up!
Here you are Mojofett a couple or pics with flak on , plan was to get placing right then bend to my body :wacko
Armour's looking good! :thumbsup
Much better curve to the armor compared to your initial post! I like the direction it's heading in.
You may want to look to the alignment of the chest and diamond piece (they seem to be a bit lopsided) and I would still like to see the dents in that armor!
But, all and all, it's shaping up extremely well! Pretty soon you'll be ready to paint it up!
Noted and adjusted Arcaster :thumbsup Can't wait to paint as i'm a vehicle paintsprayer by trade . I've been a painter for about 25 years now but hey got to be patient and get the panelling right first :)
Hey Jake, got a better view with the armour on ya! I 'think' that the plates are a little on the large side? (see attached pic, excuse size of image) I understand that your a tall guy but they seem a little on the large side when compared to the pics. (just my 2 pence).
http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z...Armourpost.jpg
Maybe.. and it is a maybe that when you've added the contours to them that they'll 'appear' smaller?
Don't get me wrong I think they look great so far but could be allot better with a little work.
p.s. Paint sprayer?? hmmmm will send ya a PM. ;)
Cheers Mojofett , i did base the plates on Wizzards XL templates i suppose i should've remembered our US mates XLs are more like our XXL but not a problem as can cut down to a L . Had a feeling may get a pm lol saw yer Thread :lol
I think the armor is OK, but the vest seems small on you, this is why you don't have enough room to fit the armor plates properly. The vest should be longer in lenght and maybe wider on the shoulders, especially that the shoulder area doesn't look good. Did you buy the vest already made or it was made to your measurements?
I was thinking the armor looks a bit large on you as well, but like rafal said it might be that the vest is a little too small. Or maybe a combination of both.
Attachment 59449Hi guys , as to Rafs question i had vest made by Cucblack . I was wearing quite a thick jumper when i took the pics but did feel it was a little short . I also felt myself the armor was a little big so have adjusted from XL to L , i have rough placed them although i've still to adjust collar . Thanks for the feedback guys :cheers
Looks better to me. Now you can sell that XL armor for mad bank $$$ lol
Hmmm that's an idea apolifika ;) ' Who wants XL Ally Armor !!!! ' :lol
Whilst contemplating the adjustments to my flac i decided to start weathering my boots, still some way to go but here's so far
Then whilst waiting for the fabric paint to dry i started to make my cod armor, still a little more to do to finish .
Good job on the weathering, and the armor looks good too. Keep up the great work!
Well after passing a kidney stone this morning and feeling like death (my poor little feller ;) ) was feeling better this afternoon so i decided on finishing my cod all bar the paint . ( Even added a dents just for you Raf :D )
from my bit of spare time today , finished weathering boots and started Knee armour :fettrotj
Nice progress! It's looking really good :)
Lookin' GREAT! :thumbsup
Hey man! I like the progress. One thing I would look to is the dents for the knee pads. I'm sure you'll get to it but it's looking good!
Good job so far! The toe spikes should be fixed by moving the spike closer to the screw and maybe shorten it a bit, like this:
Attachment 59992 Attachment 59993
Cheers Guys , done a little more on the knees earlier ( dart blocks and filler ) and put in the dent just for you Archaster ;). Photos will follow soon ! :cheers
knees with dents ;) , What next hmm ? Gaunts me thinks
Dang, you're productive! I'm impressed. Very nice work! Can't wait to see the gauntlets :D
Just finished marking out an cut out half of the left gaunt when i got back from work .Time to eat ,KFC me thinks :drool
Left gaunt so far , flame thrower to cut and bend then its put it all together :) :fettrotj
Pieces look good. Looking forward to seeing them put together :)
Left gaunt almost finished ( just a little more work final fill and sand ) , then will start right at weekend ;) :fettrotj
Your work with metal is impressive and most effective! Keep up the great work!
Amazing work!!! Cant wait to see it finished. How's the weight? have you test fit yet?
Thanks guys much appreciated :cheers . As for your questions Armydad test fit good and weight of left gaunt is 2lb (about 900g) so only a mini work out whilst wearing :lol
just a few more pics of the left gaunt :fettrotj
Dude! Those gauntlets look sick! Out of curiosity, why leave the area where you have to put the calculator key pad hollow?
Yeah there is a plate to go in there just on the hunt for an casio MQ1 calculator for keypad ect , got a few old school mates who had them ( if only they knew ! ;) ) on the look out . Just wanted to have one for snug fit , no other reason Achaster me ol mucker :)
Dude, one word: AWESOME!
Due to family commitments with the birth of my great niece Millie Ann last tuesday progress has slowed a bit , but hey i'm back on it with cutting and shaping of the right gaunt :cheering .
amazing work! I'm highly impressed!
Thanks Strumfett, here's todays progression :fettrotj
Seriously, these are amazing! You're doing one hell of a job here :D
Thanks Dreamwalker , i try my best ;)
A little more progress on right gaunt ........
Right gaunt has come to a halt as can't seem to get hold of any Alco MPE106d switches . Am able to get them here in the UK in bulk of 100 but only want 2 so if there's any OB1s out there can you help me ' your my only hope' :)
Wahey ! found some switches , they are Alco MPA106d switches but are exactly the same and $10 each so as soon as they arrive can complete right gaunt :cheering
Still waiting for the right gaunt switches so have reverted back to finish the left . Have now got the MQ1 and am about to dismantle for the key board but here is what i've done and what i used for the flamethrower gribblies .
Ok have been a bit pre occupied recently so have put a bit more effort in to near completion of gauntlets all bar painting :fettrotj
Great work bruv... gaunts need some nice darts! ;)
:?:rolleyes:b
Wow, I'm lovin' it! Your gauntlets look great!
Cheers dmount , well gaunts fininished bar painting ! Next ally bucket or ally jetpack :wacko Come on guys what do you think ? :fettrotj
Just noticed missed a small gribblie on right gaunt ! ahhhhhhg !!!!
The gauntlets look great, I mean really awesome!. I see your missing part, not a hard fix though:D How have you connected the parts together? have you used epoxy stick, or soldered/weld seams?
Cheers fettwho, nearly all of the above :lol. I used bonding sealer for the main and aruldite steel epoxy for more fiddly bits followed by finishing with alu filler . My nephew has just given me a mig welder so if i do another set i shall weld the majority . The sealer was the best non weld option as i found the epoxy showed signs of cracking under stress . Can i say Wizards templates are excellent if you're looking to make you own :fettrotj
Your welcome:D
I was wondering about epoxy, great stuff if its thick enough, but brittle when thin.. Yeah I love WOF templates, and maybe one day I may use them for a second or third set of gauntlets, as the results I have seen from them have been great. i.e like yours.
The part your missing I made from a craft knife handle ( the round aluminum ones ). I crushed and filed the ends and drilled the center. also filed each side to even it up, and it really looks the part.
Photo added to show, sorry not very close shot, will dig them out and take better photo if needed. ( unless you manage to source one:D )

You did a stunning work on those gauntlets, sir! Amazing attention to details and fantastic work with metal!
Thanks Raf ,i feel honoured to have such a comment from the master of detail , thanks again :cheers
Gaunts in paint , going about it a little differently as fully painted first then adding damage . Being ally thought it will give the real feel .:fettrotj
Good work with the paint and weathering so far!
Is that a mini metal Fett helmet in the background of the first image?
Ha ha ! No Raf it's on the floor and you've stumbled on the next piece of my build , The start of my ally bucket :D

Hi Guys , Just a quick note on the slow progress of my build for those who have followed my progress .
