Work in Progress - My FP V2 Armor
Figured I'd share my progress on my FP V2 armor.
Before I begin, I want to thank FP for his amazing armor. You'd be hard pressed to find a better, cleaner product. I know I've personally seen nothing better. The curves are beautiful and the codpiece is finally the right size and curve under the bottom. Thank's FP for the chance to be amongst the few to work on a set of this right now. 8)
How it comes, right out of the box... immaculate!

Re: Work in Progress - My FP V2 Armor
And here's the Yellow Zinc Chromate layer airbrushed on above that. I've used masking fluid to mask off the damage as I'm going for a layered paint job.

Then came the right chest plate and the decal. I also had to make a few topical paint fixes to some of the scrapes.

Next up comes the weathering with a few black acryllic washes, scratches and topical paint weathering.

Re: Work in Progress - My FP V2 Armor
:suprise Awesome paintjob dude! I cant wait till this armor is available:cheering

Re: Work in Progress - My FP V2 Armor
Did you actually start painting it at 8pm today? Man, if you can paint your armour in a couple hours, I'm not worried about repainting all mine before Dragon*Con! I realized mine is in poor shape since C3, so I better redo it before my photoshoot. I sure wish I was able to get one of those nice codpieces though!
Great work Bobby boy!
-
Re: Work in Progress - My FP V2 Armor
Bob if you are bringing this to Dragon expect me to steal it, just FYI.

Re: Work in Progress - My FP V2 Armor
Come on, its past 10pm... and your not done yet! LOL hehe Just kidding. Looking good!
-
Re: Work in Progress - My FP V2 Armor
Heh... no, this wasn't all done tonight. I just was lazy about posting it all. I actually started it all last weekend. Tonight I've been cleaning up some of the scratches and scrapes I'm not happy with and started in with the black acryllic washes.
Thanks for the kudos guys!

The only thing I'm not happy with and might change is the light green scratch color on the ab plate. Other than that I'm THRILLED with how this came out.
I used the templates as a guide and lightly sketched the scrapes on with a pencil. Then I went in with the masking fluid and tried to keep it in the lines. Some spots didn't come out quite right when the latex was removed so for those scrapes I had to paint them freehand topically.
Can't wait to show it off at Dragon Con! :)

There, I gave ya one too, since I didn't have one of my own :lol
Chief, that is just fanfriggintastic my friend !!!! That turned out
absolutely amazing. The first V.2 set painted, and it rocks.
One little tiny thing tho ...
Stand on a chair or something, when you're taking pics of the cod piece! You're blimping it out
with your focal length !! I wanna see how it looks with your awesome paintup with a better
focal length !!! :lol Just stand on a chair with the camera about 6 ft away from the cod piece,
then zoom in a little with the camera zoom and try to get it to look something like this ...

You are most certainly welcome man. Glad you like it !
Great Job !!

Like I said before that's the one part I'm not happy with. I painted them topically and I'm not happy with the color I used. I don't remember the name of the color but I do know that I'd prefer a better match to the real one.

Re: Work in Progress - My FP V2 Armor
Heres a trick to nailing those off green scratches on the ab plate and else where. Paint your color on the edge of a small thin square of card bord, hit the side with paint on it on a peice of paper to make sure a resonable amount of paint is on it but not to much. Then go to town, you will have to re apply the paint to the card board a few times... once its dry add some brused on spots as well to randomize it. Heres a pic of what I was able to do using this.

Re: Work in Progress - My FP V2 Armor
Thanks for the tips evan. I did mine in a AoSW theme, but there are some light scratches, mostly on the left chest piece. What color did you use? How much lighter than the US med green did you go?
-
Re: Work in Progress - My FP V2 Armor
I used a mix between U.S. Med Green and Soviet Green (much lighter) and bingo
I also added that color after my wash and over spray of black
-
Re: Work in Progress - My FP V2 Armor
for my scratches, i actually did them as another layer in the process.
there's a yellow layer, a lighter green and a darker green.
i used the same color as my helmet for the lighter green (rustoleum spruce green i think? or is it sage...)

Re: Work in Progress - My FP V2 Armor
I used testors US Medium green in the spray can but it came out more of an olive drab color.
-
Re: Work in Progress - My FP V2 Armor
