Along with pming people thier items have shipped, why don't you mark them shipped in the thread. I for one would like to be able to contact those that have been shipped to.

It would be better, wouldn't it? Even better would be a separate post on the day he shipped them, so we know how long it takes.

At the moment the sums aren't adding up with regard to how many have supposedly shipped and how many have been marked as shipped.

Not all orders have been from this site, and not everyone from this site wished to be put on the list (some people dont like other's knowing their business). That is why I have shipped out more orders than are marked as shipped here.

I have updated the first post with who has shipped. At this point all orders have shipped unless they were placed within the past week, or if they include a backplate (that would be scuba2006, Ogait-Nas, and Kord) as I am having to redo that mold. I will keep those 3 updated through PM's as I get the new mold finished and their backplates formed.

Andrew, what is the status of my order? Are you still shipping it or are you refunding the money?

I marked your order as shipped in the first post of the thread this morning, sorry you must have missed it. According to the P.O. it should arrive within approximately 2 weeks. She said the arrival time varies by country, and she couldnt be any more exact than that.

Your order was shipped complete with resin darts included.

    Thanks,
    Rimshot

Wow! That WAS some fast shipping. I'm glad the parts arrived quickly and intact. I'm also glad you are happy with the parts.

No hard feelings on my end either. I understood your concern, and I am sorry I didn't get things to you quicker. I had some things happening in my personal life that didn't let me focus my full attention to my armor work. Thankfully that is all sorted out now, and I am back on track.

Re: Sign-up for vacuformed "budget" armor kits

Just wanted to let anyone who has current orders with me know that things will be slightly delayed. With all the severe weather we have been having over the past few days, and the related power outages and damage, I havent been able to get much work done on filling orders, and the storms that came through last night took down a barn sitting on farm ground my family owns. Ive got quite a bit on my plate at the moment, and with more severe weather predicted for this week, things will most likely be moving slowly for a few more days.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. I will still try to ship what I can, and work on forming pieces as much as possible, but I cant guarantee how much I will be able to accomplish for the next few days.

    Thanks,
    Rimshot

Re: Sign-up for vacuformed "budget" armor kits

Ok everyone, sorry for the slow updates.

Between having severe weather and heavy rains pretty much every other day for the past couple weeks, I havent been able to make any progress on orders. What free time I've had has been spent trying to tear apart the wreckage from the barn we lost due to the storms, and that is slow going with the ground being so soggy (unfortunately the barn sat in the low part of a field that needs tiled badly). I am not really able to vacform when their is moisture in the air anyway, as it leaves pretty severe pock marks on the formed pieces. I dont want to send out parts that need that much filling and sanding to be useable, so I have to wait until I get a dry day or two in order to form quality pieces. Having my workspace in a non-insulated garage does not help matters any as far as protection from the weather.

I apologize to everyone affected by the delays, and will try to post updates in this thread as often as possible.

OK everyone, I think I finally have all my real-life issues squared away, and can focus back on Fett now. I will be going through PMs catching up with people on statuses and should be ready to ship some orders tomorrow and then more later this week.

I received my PM and I appreciate the communication. I understand that real life comes before a hobby and sometimes it can be tough to get online and post a message. I hope that all of your other customers can be understanding as well.

Re: Sign-up for vacuformed "budget" armor kits

Hey guys, I have pretty limited internet access right now, so I have been trying to keep up with PM's as best as possible. I figured posting here would let me cover more info at once.

As of right now, orders for Brail Khan, Escher, john1123, and sketchman will be shipping on Monday. I plan to finish up the resin casts for these orders this weekend and have them ready to go.

I am still working on the replacement backplate mold, but should have all orders including backplates taken care of next week, with them shipping the following Monday.

Thanks everybody. I will try to keep everyone informed with PM's when their orders do in fact ship.

If you check about 4 posts above your post, you will see an answer to your questions. I have pretty limited internet access right now, so I am making my updates here for everyone at once instead of going through PMs one at a time.

    Hey everyone,

I got delayed a couple days over the weekend, and had the first round of shipping that I mentioned boxed and ready to go today. Unfortunately my area was getting the nasty weather that had moved through Missouri the other day. We have been in tornado warnings off and on all day, and I never got a long enough clear spot to get to the P.O. From the weather reports now it should be clear tomorrow, so I will get the first round shipped out.

Still no Calc pad or response. I also received a rocket and its not super perfect but its not terrible. Some sandpaper and paint and I think it will be OK. I sure would like a response on my Calc pad shipping. Maybe a tracking number or something.

I did receive the mail that was supposed to include the calc pad. Unfortunately for me, the envelope was torn with contents missing. I do not hold Rimshot accountable for this. I just wanted to
clear the air with what was going on with my order. Rimshot does not respond very fast or ship very fast; however, I would be confident that he will make every attempt to make good on your
orders. remember this is a hobby and life happens.

Re: Sign-up for vacuformed "budget" armor kits

Hey everyone, I apologize for the disappearance.

I've been dealing with another round of health problems due to complications from my gallbladder surgery last year. It has been a battle for awhile now. It will cause me to be very sick a couple days in a row, then the next couple days I may not be actively sick, but am so sore from being sick the days before that I still can't really accomplish much. Here I thought having the gallbladder out would have solved the problem, and it ended up causing more issues.

Thankfully I have another doctor's appointment tomorrow afternoon, and should hopefully be put on the right meds to take care of the symptoms. I will most likely have to take them for life, since there isn't any way to cure the root of the problem yet. As long as I can get back to a relatively normal life I will be thankful.

I apologize for not dropping in to let everyone know what was up, but with not being able to work, I lost my internet access temporarily. Finances have been really tight the past few weeks. My internet should hopefully stay on permanently now, and I will be back to forming armor and shipping orders within the next few days. I will need a couple days for the meds to start taking effect, but I really hope to be back at it by the later part of the week.

I have some orders near completion, and once I finish up a few stray parts can have them out the door. I will get back with everyone later this week to give more specific updates. I need the next couple days to focus on getting better.

Thank you all for your understanding.

Hi, thank you for letting us know what's going on. I don't mind waiting if there is some communication When you pay someone and he doesn't answer it's normal to get nervous...
I hope you get better and overcome the symptoms soon.

Re: Sign-up for vacuformed "budget" armor kits

Long post, but I need to share this... Rimshot does good work despite the majority of this thread being anger over his lack of communication and slow turnaround. I bought the mis-pulls and mess-ups he was selling back in April. The stuff I got (other than the resin pieces) was all top notch, and I fail to see the defect in many of the pieces. I actually paid for the lot because included were two gauntlet tops that he said were good pulls, but from an older mold (as stated earlier in the thread, he updated the molds and has yet to post pictures). I didn't look too carefully at the picture in his for-sale thread, and I didn't read his comments early in this thread about the gauntlet molds being updated. I waited a month before I started working on em, and now that I'm almost done painting and getting ready to add greebles, here's my notes ....

1 - They're a little "fat." Rimshot said on page 1 that he has big arms and made them wide to accomodate more people. They're about the length of the WOF templates, but the rounded edges and extra width make some parts look a little off when you compare em to photos in the gallery.

2, 3 & 4 - The grappling rope housing (i think that's what the box on outer side of right gauntlet) was a separate piece, that had to be cut pretty precisely (maybe he trims a lot more when its not a mis-pull, so this might not apply to you guys) to line up. Also, the back piece of right gauntlet (where the big hose attaches) is missing. I cut that out of sintra using WOF templates and it fit pretty well. If you're seriously into accuracy, you'll notice there are supposed to be indentations like overlapping layers at the back of both gauntlets, and the front of the right one. Again, sintra on the inside (which you should probably do anyway to reinforce on sides where hinges and whatever clasp you use sit).

I mention these because back when this thread started I thought, "that'd make guantlets, the hardest armor part to make yourself, easy for a reasonable price. I just have to add hinges and greebles. With the lot I bought (no clamshell bottoms) I knew I'd have to do some work, but even if I'd gotten the shells with the tops, there's still a lot to do.

I really wish I'd taken pictures before I started working on em (although mine are just like the picture at start of thread) because it wasn't until I was almost ready to begin painting that I noticed the rest of these issues.

5 - The right gaunt does not have the little nozzle part above the darts, nor does it have that curved edge where the nozzle sits. The edge that the darts stick out of is a little too straight and short for my tastes (because it's missing that extra layer where the curved edge starts). I fixed these pretty easily, by just cutting away the area above the darts and curving a piece of sintra to fit there.

6 - The rounded edges on everything (I know, a side effect of vacu-forming) make it impossible to sit a keypad on the left gauntlet without cutting and rebuilding that space with sharper corners.

I hope this was helpful to some of you. Rimshot's materials and craftsmanship are great, even if his communication (often due to issues that are out of his control) is not so good.

Kinda off topic - I realize that most of my posts on TDH are negative criticisms, but that's mostly because I hate scrolling through a bunch of "good job" posts before I get to helpful info in a thread. I'd rather detail criticism than generalize approval, if that makes sense.

I have some orders near completion, and once I finish up a few stray parts can have them out the door. I will get back with everyone later this week to give more specific updates. I need the next couple days to focus on getting better.
3 weeks after that post and I haven't got any PM. I hope you are OK Rimshot.

Hey man, it's been a month since your last post. Is everything all right? I'll be leaving Iraq soon so let me know about how much longer it will be if you can. I hope everything went well with your condition.

Yes, I'm worried. I think I've lost $465 (€346.25). I know that it would be unfair to accuse him if he's having health problems but, if you can't provide a service or product, you should refund the money until you're ready to provide it or, at least, keep in touch with your customers. Doing that is only a one-click-effort action.

Being on the other side of the Atlantic ocean doesn't help either. If I were in the USA it would be easier to track him as another forum user had to do because of a similar case with him in the past. :'(

Come on man, you're not having a relapse of 2009 are you? You asked for a second chance and you were given it. I'd love to give you the benefit of the doubt, but I am getting skeptical and more than a little nervous I'll never see that money OR that armor.

Your vacuum formed parts look great. I'd like to purchase everything you have there in one lump so can you let me know a price and how soon you can ship? Also, do you have any resin cast parts for the gauntlets and knee pads?
I live in Banff, Alberta, Canada.

    Sincerely,

I hope this guy doesn't get a third chance here! Seems like he was too young and was overwhelmed with all that free money coming his way and was too immature to deal with the workload -or he was a straight out conman. Either way, good riddance and I hope everyone can recoup their losses somehow.

i finally got my armor i ordered six months ago, and it only took a month of me constantly emailing rimshot and eventually his brother too. (still havent had any reply emails though) i was kinda disappointed
though since a bunch of the pieces where cracked warped and covered in a variety of god knows what, but hey dirty bent and broken armor is better than no armor at all. if any one needs them Ive an alternate email address for rimshot and one for his brother.

Fresh news about Rimshot: I e-mailed him and this is what he has said.

As I have stated to others (they must not have passed on the word), I have been finishing up kits as I am able (my daily life has been pretty hectic) and will get your armor sent out as soon as possible. I only have 3 remaining orders to fill, and hope to have them done within the next couple months. I am doing my best to get all past orders taken care of, and once they are finished I will not be producing any more armor. Please be patient and you will get your order.
