    Ruffkintoy Gaunts (RotJ) -

    Here are my finished ones:

The light actually works. I used a flat paddle toggle switch to duplicate the non-functional "switch" thing on the original.

I also used the two Coax Radio shack connectors for the box flamethrower.

The missile is from RussRep. (missile is bolted on through the top)

(velcro joins the two halves together).

I used a brass connector for the top hose fitting, to slide the hose on and off easily - had to dremel it to fit it.

Also used 3/8" brass pipe for the pipe work. The silver connectors were taken from the "connector" thread.

(JB Weld used to secure the metal pieces together)

Again, the darts are from Russ Rep.

Used a combination of masking fluid, tape, and paint to do the damage.

I'm not a big fan of tropical paint jobs, so I tend to shy away from that (can't see it on 35mm, but it's murder close up!) and only use it for small stuff.

I like the "flaking" method anyway. More organic feel to the piece.

I will be adding some filler material, (cotton batting) inside the units to stop them from sliding around, in combination with velcro attached to the sleeves.

The stuff will be just at the ends, like rings, to seal them.

Looks great. Can you tell me where you found the connector that attaches to the 3/8 brass pipe? I have searched all my local places including Lowes. I find 1/4-1/4 connectors, but they are not right. The entire piece is hex shaped.

I ordered the coupling from here:

the connector on the end was from Lowes.

found the links to this from the TDH thread:

Another ? How are people attaching the top connector on the side, to the resin piece? The connector base is wider than the resin piece so it overhangs. I was thinking 3/8 wooden dowel and JB Weld. But I am worried that the dowel wont line up to go in the connector, (see your last pic, shows what I am talking about very well)

I drilled a hole into the resin piece, I think I went in about 1.5".

Then with the metal rod in the connector (just like batninja's how-to diagram) I slapped it in with some jbweld.

I didn't use wood, as I figured I might have issues down the road with it soaking up water and expanding, ruining the paint and possibly crack the resin.

Plus - the metal parts allow me to make it a "working" flamethrower... muahahahaha....

I used jbweld to seal the gap in the connector and the pipe to give the "all one piece" look. Make sure you place the surface horizontal to allow the stuff to dry the way you want it too.

Let the jbweld set for a bit, then you can "mold" it to the shape you want before it finally cures.

couple shots of "chrome" paint and it's steel looking.

Same size pipe as the bottom pipe(that goes underneath the resin piece with the angle cut at the end)? I think its 3/8. I used the 3/8 toilet rod for the bottom pipe, maybe I just use a leftover portion for the top? Thanks

    yep - same pipe -

I went to a hobby store and bought an 3/8" brass tube (12" long) for about $1.50 or so.
