I am doing a modification & repaint of the Rubies Supreme boba fett costume. Hopefully, it will go okay. It's hard to fix something that begins so broken, but if anybody has any advice for me, I will gladly take it. I cannot afford to buy higher quality armor to replace what I already have.

What are your end goals with this build? Mod and repaint can mean anything.
Dude if you dont own it all ready and think its the way to go coz of the cost DONT DO IT if you already have it then thats another case
but lets look at the cost 750 ok , well you can get an Asok Boba Fett helmet for 170 you can get a full set of vac form armour, gauntlets knees and all hard parts 180 ,
Flight suit and vest 150 boots MOW 100 , Rocket pac 280, a few mettal details around 150 so basiclly for a grand you vcan get a GOOD suit that will need the same work as the rubies , probabley less and youl need to spend more updating it so if you dont have it the look in to cheap but good parts Im yet to see any one try and redo a rubies and not end up chuking half the stuff out ,
