MLC Armor Mystery Pieces (SOLVED)...Now With Follow Question

Ok, finally got my MLC armor set and Jet Pack and everything checks out great. However, contained in the small pieces for the armor set is a couple of parts I just can't identify. Everything else is obvious and I've comb every still of my reference material but can't figure out what these piece are or where they go. This is the top and bottom, there about an inch and a half.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I'll take a stab at it: howabout the pieces on the backplate where the jet pack straps come out.

AHHHH, could be. The slots on the backplate are not cut so these may have to be added after the fact.

    Anyone else?

That is exactly what those pieces are for - if you find the orginal thread there is a few posts about them.

Thanks for all the feeback. It was not that obvious considering others that make the backplate seem to sculpt it in, but I understand the thinking here.

A follow up question for those that have the MLC armor.

Even after eventually making the slots and adding the pieces. How do you keep them from possibly snapping off? Considering the JP is probably pressing against the pieces and then movement of the JP while walking around.

Also, is it wiser to create the harness in the JP first to gauge the placement, then cutting the slots for the backplate. Which would mean holding off on painting the backplate til the end.

Its all in the glue you use. I would use Plastic Welder glue. It fuses with the fibreglass. That should do you fine.

I would wait till you have your harness ready and cut the slots according to that.

Most of the threads for MLC Armor are a few years old and the pictures have since unlinked. I can't even locate the one that's being referenced. I'll take some shots of the new set and post them.

WOW that is a flawless job! Thanks for the references I'm going to need it.

BTW is your complete armor set MLC? If so did you slice off the shoulder studs and replace them too? I also noticed from the collar you may have gone the "snap" route instead of velco, how's that workin out.

I've now finally got everything and although the painting might not be an issues, the intimidation factor is beginning to set in as far as final placement and attaching the JP.

Heh, Heh that's not my armor. I was just showing you the photo's I went by. I think the one photo is actually FP armor and the others are the real deal. I have MLC like you, let me know if you want pic's of my finished holes on the backplate. Also it's been discussed that if you put your armor in the oven one piece at a time @ 150 degrees for about a minuite and a half you can reshape it. Then holding it in place dunk it in water. This does work to a certain degree. I did notice a negetive effect though, I got a couple of hairline cracks in the surface of the glass on the shoulder bells after they cooled, nothing big but I had to fill them. Let me know if you need anymore help. And yes I have the whole armor kit and no I did not cut off the studs, but I think I might down the road their kinda small huh. Also I used industrial velcro and it worked fine. I'm not a big fan of snaps. The holes on the backplate are usually up pretty high otherwise your packs gonna sit too low and look silly.
