this is looking amazing so far. nice work man. as a metal worker for a living, i can see that you're puting a lot of time and effort into this. what sort of metal are you using???
Great look so far bud, be interesting to see these built up...![]()
Thank you for the compliments. And jim, I use sheet metal for all my creations.
that's so awesome i don't even have words for it.
(i have a serious metal obsession with my suit)
that's going to be a beautiful things if i do say so myself, as i am a sheet metal worker specifically. keep us posted man. this is looking like it's going to be awesome. what are you using to keep it together?? ie, welding, solder, ect???
Great job Wickedbeard, you know i'm a fan of your work.

Great job! But what will you do about the seams?

wow. dude is there anything you can't do? amazing work so far!
those are amazing :thumbup
There is more to come, I promise.Gotta earn some money for right now, then when free time shows it's face I will be doing some more on these.Stay tuned.lol
And thanks a million for all the kind words.
ok I started on the left top. This is where I am so far.still have a lot to do, but I figured I would post some shots.I also have been fooling with the templates to do away with a lot of small parts and possibly be able to make more of these.
so here we go,
![]()
As I said these are still in the rough stage, so be gentle.lol
Lookin pretty cool brother!
Thats pretty awesome lookin man!
That is one of the coolest things I have ever seen, genuinely impressive work![]()
A few questions...
1. Are you using tin snips to cut with?
2. What are you using to keep the seams together?
3. Are you going to make more of these?
awesome work!
1.I use titanium scissors.
2.Goop is and always will be my adhesive of choice.
3.Yes,more than likely.
Goop? that stuff you use to fix old sneakers?

best. glue. evar.
Ok no huge progress, but I pretty much have both tops done.now I have to start on the clamshells, flamethrower, and the right side piece.
Here are some updated pics.Of course things will look a lot better once the missile, calc, dental expander, ect are on it.
![]()
very nice!
Wow, I'm impressed! This is one COOL project.
This is amazing! I can't wait for more updates.
Any more updates?
Ok got a bit more accomplished during some free time.Got the little metal piece on the right gaunt, and the flamethrower has been started.
![]()
I'll add all the little switches, flamethrower nozzles, ect, ect, after the main parts are finished.
I plan on making everything on these myself, except for the calc pad , which i will need.I am going to attempt making the missile myself.
after these I will probably do up an ESB set.Hopefully the second time around goes a little quicker.lol
Woo hoo, keep going they're looking great!
Looking good man![]()
I think my soul is crying becuase of the awsomeness!Looks very nice man!
![]()
ok got a bit more done. All the little flaws should be concealed by the paint and weathering.
here we go,
More to come as soon as I grab a calc pad, and get my missile in the mail.
Are they heavy?
Oh no, that would be light as a feather![]()
not too heavy, but they are definitely solid. They feel like they could be real.
Wow, I'm continually impressed with your work! You rock! I can't believe how great they look. :thumbup
*DROOL*
![]()
WOW Jeff those look amazing!!!!!
Thanks for all the compliments. They are always appreciated. Now to some more pics.I have painted the right gaunt finally. As always I went crazy with the weathering.I kinda did a mix of the MOM look with the darker more heavily weathered AOSW look, along with a little extra custom weathering. These are mine so I was not too concerned about accuracy.
still have to add the nozzles for the hoses, but that will come a bit later.
Anyway, here we go,
I am going to paint up the left gauntlet today probably.the calc pad is not there but that can be added later.
I also did not have a dental expander so like everything else, I made my own .It is a bit crude, but it looks close, and when it is painted, no one will be the wiser.Just took a little scrap metal and went at it with the pliers.lol
![]()
I am also on the hunt for a cheap calc pad .I posted a request in the cargo hold as well.
Great job! Nothing looks like bare metal as much as ...........bare metal!

Aspiring full metal Jango here with a couple of questions:
Is it aluminium or stainless? what SWG?
how is it all attached? MIG? TIG?
Cheers dude!
I use galvanized sheet metal for everything I make.To hold it all together?Goop!!
Not too sure what you mean by MIG,TIG, and SWG.lol Forgive me if I sound ignorant.
PM replied to regarding expanders and calc pads.
MIG and TIG are methods of welding, btw.![]()
Sorry! I'm still in work mode.
Standard Wire Gauge. I was wondering about material thickness basically.
and GOOP!? whaaaaa!? That's ace!
did you have to adapt the WOF templates much or was it pretty straight fwd?
I might have a shot at these when the rest of the armour's done. All i'll need is a metal jet pack after that... dum dum duuuuuuum...
Good job dude!
I did use the templates, but with metal it's never straightforward. You know that I'm sure.lol..Seems like when the project is all done, all the designs are different from the templates. They are a great starting point.I recommend that everyone with basic craft skills give these a shot. When it is all done it offers a wonderful sense of accomplishment.
Metal jet pack is another thing I wanna tackle, but I am having a hard time getting actual sizes from the templates.I cannot figure out how to print the templates to where they are actual size.
anyway, soon as my calc pad arrives, I will be posting the finished gauntlets in all their glory.I got the missile attached and weathered up real nice.I also did up the flamethrower nozzles to better match the exhibit pics.
stay tuned.
Next project will be the ESB version, then I will try a set of jangos gauntlets.
Almost done.Calc pad is on the way, and I am almost done with the side hose connections, so here they go.
![]()
Say! Thats one snazzy missle on there!
You have done an outstanding job on these! I wish I had this much skill with metal!
No need to spend time weathering them...just paint 'em up all purdy an stick em in the dryer with a few rocks from the driveway!![]()
Ok well, the time has come.Metal ESB gauntlets have been started, and pics will come soon.I figured I would just use this thread instead of wasting space with another one.
Stay tuned.
Wow, amazing work you did on that gauntlets. I' m more than impressed. If you have planed to do a run...which costs can we expect for an fully painted set? Lookin forward to your progress pics.
Cheers
Hello,
They came out great and metal to boot!! Congrats!
The jet/rocket pack templates were updated a while ago to a PDF file format so that they will print out on standard 8"X11" paper so there is no longer any problems in print it out. Though you will have to peice the templates back together. It is 56 pages so make sure that the printer is loaded and ready to. Here is the link:
http://home.comcast.net/~wizardoffli... Pack_SS15.zip
Give it a try and let me know if you have any issues.
Alan
Heres what how I printed mine.
After unzipping the files I then
This worked well for me and made each square of the grid 1"x1"
- Opened each sheet with Paint
- Went to Page Setup in the File Menu
- Turned off the Horizontal and Vertical centering
- Changed margins to Left: 0.25 Right: 0.25 Top: 0.07 Bottom: 0.46 (actually if you just put in .01 for each value it changes to these automatically)
- In Scaling: mark adjust to and use 140%
It took a few tests (and quickly hitting cancel on the printer) to get the 140% thing. If nothing major has changed on them since around June/July/August of last year (06) this will probably still work.
Metal Jet Pack build will be fun to watch!!!!
Hello,
The jet pack templates were revised and converted to a PDF file to elliminate the printing problem folks were having. The link I posted above is to the new templates. The first few pages are not full size but are to show how to piece all the sheets together.
Alan
**** dude those are awesome i hope my stuff comes out half as good as the scratch builders on this site.
Outstanding job![]()
Very cool.
Which amazing goop did you use? RV, Craft, All Purpose. Is there really a difference?
they look great. Im impressed![]()
way cool man, awesome
are they heavy?
Thanks. No they are not that heavy at all, but they do weigh more than vacuformed or fiberglass gauntlets.Nice and solid.
I know this may be a bit of a redundant question, but you don't weld these, correct? When using a glue (goop) how do you get rid of the seams, and how well do they hold up?
I'm wanting to make a metal set for several reasons, but they're going to have functionality built in, so they need to not only be metal, but very sturdy as well.
Thanks!
lets just say, to destroy these, you would have to stomp on them or beat em with a hammer.they are very strong.I have dropped em a few times, and they held up.
Now they are obviously not indestructable, so i would not recommend doing anything violent in them.lol
Goop when dry is extremely powerful.
and some seams are inevitable, but i hide them well, by shaving the corners and such with my dremel, and it gives it a smooth edge.I have 2 sets of ESB's that are almost complete and ready to go to the buyers.I'll let them speak for the quality.
I know i said i was going to post em then sell em, but these were purchased before completion by past customers/friends.
Anyway , the set that has the flamethrower I made attached will be posted soon.
Wicked
Ok here is the ESB set that I just finished and shipped out.I know the wires are supposed to be certain colors, but I had red ones so that is what i used.As for darts, I went with the rivets, as they look good and have that beat up look to em.The dental expanders, I make myself so they too are metal.
the flamethrower was designed, and made by me from found items, all metal except for a couple parts which i made from wood.
anyway, here goes.
![]()
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, you're one of my favorite artisans man! :thumbup
I love your work. I still have your original ESB armor from two years ago.I'm going to have to save up for some Wickedbeard gauntlets too!
Thanks MF, it feels good to have a fan base.lol, seriously, I always appreciate the compliments. It is what keeps me going in this crazy hobby.
MAN! Those look excellent! You certianly have the process worked out, each set is looking better and better!!
Keep up the great work!
Alan
Man, I have seen some metal gauntlet attempts before, but never any that looked so good. I know that getting the detail is much harder with metal, but those look as good as most of the vac formed and fiberglass gauntlets out there. Very well done my friend.
If I'm not mistaken - I think those are the bad boys probably waiting for me when I return home....I can't wait to get back and see them in person!!! Fantastic looking stuff.
![]()
just curious, but would you be willing to make a custom pair? i'd love to have aluminum gauntlets (my entire armor set is going to be metal) and have found all the things i need except for the gauntlets. pm man, if you can do that.
WB are you lining the inside of the gauntlets with anything? I know you add backing to your chest armor, so I'm wondering if you do something similar to these?
Yes these are lined with the same material for comfort, and it also helps prevent slippage.
I just have to say that I finally received the ESB gauntlets---there is a crazy post story that I'll have to share with Wickedbeard later...all I can say is
WOW!!!!!
Amazing all the way. They totally feel that they could be a practical gauntlet - not at all a costume piece. These are seriously Fett!!
You are an incredible artist! I am totally blown away.
Cheers
MS![]()
Thank you so much bro.Anytime you need anything, let me know.It has been a pleasure to work with ya, and thanks for your patience.
Dude, if you get serious about a metal pack, I am totally in!
Metal Pack, Metal Pack! Sorry, was that juvenile?![]()
Had to give this thread a bump for those of you wanting WB's gauntlets, these are a thing of beauty. can't wait to get mine!!!!!
Awesome job on the metal gauntlets WB!
I just got a set within the last couple of weeks and they are truly beautiful.
Yes, those are beeeautiful indeed. Could you tell me what thickness you are using on those metal gauntlets? It seems that is is at least 0.08" (2mm) thick, if not thicker on some points. I'm pondering on starting on my own gauntlets, and I found out that the sheets that I have can be cut easily with power scissors.
Great work on those indeed!
Cheers, Ville
I just got mine.. these are awsome anyone looking for a set of gauntlets WB are the ones to get!
