How to make a mannequin?

where do you guys buy manikins, besides ebay? I'm 16 and dont really want to pay decent money on one. i was thinking of just making a body frame out of 2X2s or out of scrap metal rods and weld them together. than use old cushion and zip tie to build "muscle" so any idea, thoughts, or feelings send them my way. I made mine from PVC pipe and foam. It's light and can be moved around without much trouble. I used 1" and 2" pipe, some tee connectors and some elbows. Cost was about 10 dollars for the PVC.

If you are going to search online for tutorials, type in Mannequin on search...not Manikin... lol just bustin balls

What you could do is very simple,,you could put on and old pair of jeans,,and a long sleave t shirt,,you don't mind cutting up,,O.K. let's start,, first get a buddy you don't mind getting close to ya,,hee hee,,get a few rolls of duck tape,,stand in a pose you like,,start wrapping up with the ducktape,,,after that,,get a good pair scissors,,I recomend the medical kind the EMT's use that way you don't cut yourself,, start at the neck down the back to the legs and arms start cutting,,and for the love of god don't cut yourself,,,,then pull yourself out of it,,go put some clothes on,,your buddy might not be comfy around you in your boxers,,HAH!,,now get some more duct tape and tape up where you cut,,know this is the cool part,,get some exspanding foam in a can,a few cans that is,,,start spraying the inside of your body mold,,,the foam will exspand,,,,BAM "manikin" done,,lol,,so there ya go,,,,

You can make your own mannequin, I've seen some really good home made ones.

I updated your thread title for you. If you click on Adv-Search at the top, put the word mannequin in the Keyword(s): box and choose "Search Titles only" you will find a lot of information.

One a side note, you will find people are more apt to help you if you have already tried to use the search feature and use proper grammar.

ladies, and gentlemen.... i have started my mannequin about 3 days ago an im %85 done.... i used PVC and foam as suggested... thanks again the knowledge and help on this site is priceless... thanks again slimguy379

Tried it and it works great!!! Kind of fun to do actually! I made a thread about a year ago with my build...with some funny pictures! Wow....brings back some memories!

What a great idea with the expanding foam!!! I had thought about buying a mannequin (have you seen the prices on ebay!!?) Then decided I'd welding one with rods and chicken wire then thought about the Gaffa (or Duct tape) idea but knew it'd be far too flimsy.
Expanding foam......This is gonna be funnnnn!!!!

It does work guys,,just make sure you take your time,,,and most of all have fun with it,,and when all done take pride in what you just did,,plus its your hight,,whoot whoot!!
