    Hooking up hose to arm

How does everyone hook up the hose from the arm to their wrist gauntlet? I was thinking of making a crude hook system where I can easily disconnect it if I need to get my gauntlet off in a pinch and then have the gauntlet end permanently attached.

Any help on this would be great.

    This is what I did:

Roughly measured the length I needed on each hose to go from gauntlet to about halfway up between the "inner" and "outer" sleeve. Drilled holes in the end of each and threaded on keychain rings. Connected them all on the smallest carabiner I could find. Then sewed an elastic loop high inside the sleeve that I clip into. I don't even bother attaching the hoses permanently to the gauntlet. They don't really go anywhere.

    Hope that helps!

That's great, thanks! I guess I should just sew an extra sleeve instead of an outer shirt, right? I'm a heavy sweater so that wouldn't be too comfortable for me since my vest is nylon.

Yeah, I think my suit will be for the most part ESB. There are probably some discrepancies, but like I said in my intro post I'm rushing this through for a Halloween costume. The 100% accurate suit will have to come later.

Re: Hooking up hose to arm

I have been trying to figure out a way to attach the hose at the gauntlet that doesn't put a lot of tension on the spigot. I am afraid the tension of the hose will eventually snap off the spigot end.

I have experimented with taking a piece of hose and using progressively larger drill bits on the spigot end to ream out the hose so that it is not so stiff. When I'm done, the hose will be much softer and more "bendy" where it attaches at the spigot and about 4 inches up the tube (the length of my drill bits. I am still trying to get it right as you have to go very slow. If you go too fast, the tube will twist and I've already cut a hole in it.

To get the hose to fit on the spigot, after you've reamed it out, use some duct tape to get it to the right thickness then slip it on.

on the note of the hoses breaking off the connectors on the gauntlets... i cut the resin/plastic ones out of my gauntlets and replaced them with wood dowels. much stronger!

Here are a couple of my designs:

The top one is for the 'single-hose' approach (ESB), and the bottom is for the 'multi-hose' (ROTJ). The use of elastic allows for a little range of motion, so your hoses don't 'bow out' with your arms at your side.

a couple of guys from florida told me to hook up the three hoses to one end of one of those three pronged hook things then sew the other end to inside of the sleeve.

I should have pattented it... :P just kidding, this works!!
    Atleast, that's my experience.

The only problem I' ve encountered is that the tubes aren't very flexible... at least, myn aren't. So they tend to pull the elastique strap sideways when you bend your elbow. This causes for a strange.. bobble in your upper sleave.

    here's what I mean:

I suppose you can easily fix this though, by either getting more flexible hoses, or make an extra strap of abit more sturdy material then elastique, just below the elastique strap itself.... maybe even cut the elastque at all and just make a styrdy strap.

here's the thread where you can see how I did myn:
