Re: HELP! cod and kidney connection!!
The cod and kidney plate are actually "bolted" together using the same type of stud seen on the shoulders. One stud per side.
the cod piece should slightly overlap the kidney plate. I've added velcro inside my cod piece close to my hips just to keep it in place. :thumbsup

Re: HELP! cod and kidney connection!!
I just added velcro and glued the studs on.

Re: HELP! cod and kidney connection!!
so what was the actual connection in ESB? any pics?
I saw the ROTJ costume and it had the same connection as the backplate on the codpiece, but was there a difference in ESB?

Probably not.

Re: HELP! cod and kidney connection!!
FettDad,
Don't have the pics readily available but here's how I did mine.
Using machined studs [same as the collar and backplate], screws and washers, I first drilled a hole thru both the cod and kidney plate at the sides after measuring.
And since Boba had a 'G-string' [I use this term loosely :lol], I glued on white elastic to the bottom of the cod and then had another elastic strap cut for the waist [this was done to give me a more comfortable form fit around the waist and some tension to hold up the cod piece and not worry about it sliding down :)]. \
The white elastic strap was then looped over the waist strap at the back [for the G look. :lol] and the ends of the waist strap was hole punched to accommodate the screw and washer that will poke thru from the inside and allow the machined stud to screw on from the outside.
So, if you're looking from the a layered view, you will see, starting from the inside: Screw head, washer, waist elastic strap, kidney plate, cod piece and then machined stud.
Hope this helps somehow... I'll try to get pics later tonite...
Stay safe,
Tim.

Problem is, ESB is extremely limited with reference.

I know, I know, that's what's killing me. I'm just hoping that someone here knows. See it could be that they used something ****** and than switched to the above mentioned method. And that's a question that bugs me for quite a while now.

It does a little bit, but pics would help out a ton for me to understand it better, so whenever you get around to it I guess.
thanks

Re: HELP! cod and kidney connection!!
I am at the point of attaching the cod piece to the kidney plate myself. I was going to just use velcro, but I am toying with the idea of magnets.

Re: HELP! cod and kidney connection!!
Nice cod there, Tim! Does that "G" ever slip on you since it's not connected to the kidney plate?
As for the connection in ESB, it's the same. Couldn't find a good ESB or pre-production pic, but you can see it on the Sandy armor pic that was in the Insider recently. Hope this helps.

Re: HELP! cod and kidney connection!!
Wow Tim, thanks a bunch! That helps me understand perfect now. Doesn't look hard either. You've been a tremendous help!

Re: HELP! cod and kidney connection!!

Re: HELP! cod and kidney connection!!
My gear is set up exactly like Tim's except I don't use the black nylon. The white thong is attached to the kidney plate to the front of the codpiece.

Re: HELP! cod and kidney connection!!
Ryan,
The 'G' never slips. I made sure the elastic strap was 'tight' enough to prevent that from happening. :) Anyhow, with this set up, should I need to change the waist elastic strap, I can just slip it out, and slide on a new one. :)
Am glad I could help out Hunters. :cheers
Stay safe,
Tim.

Re: HELP! cod and kidney connection!!
you are welcome, gene!! and thanks to all for the help, and the pics!! now, another problem...i just got my pieces from ruffkin, and guess what?!! i am to much a fat***!!:lol i kind of put the stuff around my waist, and maybe i just dont have enough hands (well, the wife thinks i do ;)) but it doesnt seem like my GUT will allow the kidney piece to slide into the cod piece...any suggestions? do i extend the kidney piece?
-
Re: HELP! cod and kidney connection!!
To extend the kidney piece I would suggest using one of those plastic "For Sale" signs that you can find at Home Depot or Lowes. You would probably need a little bondo to make the extension seamless.

Ah, so are you saying that once you attach the kidney and cod pieces together the circumference of the attached pieces doesn't allow you to fit in it? I'm a skinny dude so it shouldn't be an issue with me, but I would like to know how you'd go about extending it with one of those "for sale" signs (the bondo-ing process I don't quite get).
-
Re: HELP! cod and kidney connection!!
Here is a crude illustration on how this can be accomplished. The bondo is used to give the extension and the kidney plate a seamless (no gaps) clean look.
