    Gauntlet Rocket Pattern WIP

These are the first drafts of the pattern I am working on. This is based on a 3d mesh created by wizardofflight. He did the hard part, I am just making a pattern from it. I don't have much time to work on it, so I thought I would make this one available for those who are interested. They need to be printed out around 50% to match up with wizardofflight's gauntlet template. Of course, this all depends on what materials are used and how thick. I will post a paper mockup made from this pattern when I have time.

The numbers are the pieces in order from the butt cap to the tip (mostly).
I will post a pdf that has been scaled perfectly when I am done tweaking it.

Here is a cleaner version. It is still untested, but I will be working on construction soon.

I colored it to make the parts more recognizable. No comments on the accuracy of the colors please.

    Re: Gauntlet Rocket Pattern WIP

I have made the rocket to scale, but for someone who has not had as much experience with paper models, the cuts and folds are too small. Especially on the ribs of the mid-section. I am going to make a second mid-section without the ribs, so they can be built-up from thicker cardstock. Be patient for pics, my computer is being wonky. The pattern as-is will scale perfectly with wizardofflight's gauntlet templates if printed at 50% using Photoshop or with Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. It should print the same with all other software. I will upload the tabbed version when It is cleaned up a bit. I made the rocket prototype in printer paper and it is plenty strong enough to have fiberglass resin brushed onto it without deforming. I plan to brush the resin on 2or3 layers thick to give it some more strength, then, cut the rocket in half and fill with expanding foam. After the foam, I will glue it together, give it another couple of coats of resin, and start sanding. The built up ribs will probably be added after this step. I'm not sure yet.

It is very tiny and hard to work with, but I will show pics when I get my computer working.
