    Gauntlet blueprints

Well after some head scratching and searching the reference
material here are the draft blueprints for the left gauntlet and
rocket. Once I am satisfied with the draft I’ll start working on
    the templates.

As always take a look and let me know what you all think

    Alan

    UPDATED JULY 3rd 2007!!!

Here they are, ready for downloading. If you have any questions or comments please let me know.

I really want to give a very big THANK YOU! to MOJO-Fett for all of his help and encouragement with out it would have taken another 6 months before I managed to get motivated enough to finish them. He has done a great job of organizing and prototyping these templates, making them much easier to use and understand.

One thing to note: These templates DO NOT take into account material thickness. With that said if you use a thin material such as the 1mm FOAMEX as in the prototypes you really don’t need to worry about it. But if you start using anything over 1/16” make sure that you account for the extra material during your build.

These are set up to printout on standard 8.5” X 11” paper. Just set Acrobat to print the limits of the printer and they will print out full size and you are ready to go.

    Left Gauntlet
    http://www.propaholics.wolfchasers.c...%20Std%20A.pdf

These are for the folks over across the pond. They are in the A4 paper size format. So you don’t have to worry about templates print out all messed up. Just set Acrobat to print to the limits of the printer and they will print out full size and you are ready to go.

Looks great(As usual) The armor templates you made worked great(easy to scale based on hieght) i rescaled them for my daugters Boba costume and it is turning out great. I'm anxiously awaiting the templates. Keep up the great work.

Thank you, glad to hear that they worked out so well. Do you have any pictures you can post? I'd love to see the results.

I think these templates are going to be a bit more envolved than I would like them to be, but hopefully I can get it right.

You are the man! Scratch-built is definately the way to go and your templates are idiot-proof! Just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work that you put into these designs. Can't wait to see the finished product. If you need a "beta-tester" let me know!

The Jango gauntlet are next on the list, actually they have already been started, but I have nothing worth posting yet just a bunch of construction lines.

Wizardofflight>> Well the challange is to do the gauntlet schematics in 3D in AutoCAD. (or similar) Once that is done they can very easily be scaled to fit anyone.

    Re: Gauntlet blueprints

First I have updated the drawings above base on some feedback and additional details were added also I fixed some of the proportions, which were off just a bit. They are not done yet, but they are getting close

    Zerovisibilite

That armor looks great! Can’t wait to see it finished. Please let
me know when you have it complete. Posting links isn’t a
    problem at all.

    Boba Swede

AutoCAD 14’s 3D capability is not what it could be, nothing like
Lightwave or 3D Max, but below is the wireframe of another
project that I am working on. Actually the hard part with the
gauntlets will be breaking them down into templates and
coming up with assemblies that make sense and can be
accomplished with standard hobby tools. Scaling will be
handled just like the armor templates. The gauntlet “rocket”
will be the toughest challenge to break down.

Thanks for the feedback, if you see anything that looks tweaked just let me know.

    Hello,

It’s been a bit since the last update, spent last week in the sunny south on vitiation, a very nice break from rainy Seattle. But I have not been idle, I have finished the draft drawing for the right gauntlet. The flat patterns have been started as well.

So, take a look at the first post for the new drawing and let me know what you think of it.

    Re: Gauntlet blueprints

I finished the orthos (in the links above) from a casting of the studio model so they are pretty close to the real thing. I did some clean up from the original because the casting was distorted. I never got back to the 3D model, I had planned on building a copy of the studio model, but I haven't gotten back to it. I'd be interested in seeing your 3D Max model, I have 3D Max 4.26, if possible you can send it to wizardofflight@comcast.net Thanks

Been a busy week for me I got my KOTOBUKIYA Boba Fett Figure and my Webley casting from Sidewinder and I became a father all in the same week.

I have finally finished the drawings for the Jango gauntlets (see the link above) so if you interested take a look and let me know what you think. Also take a second look at the Boba gauntlets drawings in the first post. I am getting ready to finally start on the templates. Hopefully that will go faster that the drawings have.

    Thanks,

cool. now I can start the sculping using the blue prints. Hey where do you get sintra? I hear it's easy to work with is it found at a lowes, menards or home depot? I don't think I can get away doing fiberglass. I hear the fumes are dangerously toxic. I have a minor in art as related to sculpting so this would be the cheapest route for me. If I get a handle on it though I will be making a butt load for each suitHMMMM I figure a rotj, jango,ESB, what if fett had huge freaking predator like blades, or wrist blaster, huge armore war guantlet things .... The possibilities are endless... so where do you get sintra?

    UPDATE! 9/14/06

I have added a new pic to the first post. It is the 1st gauntlet to be built with my new gauntlet templates. I took the templates and made all the pieces in AutoCAD and then I assembled them just like I would if they were made out of real material. The purpose was to make sure that all the pieces fit and that when assembled that they actually look like a Fett gauntlet. if you look close you can see where the pieces fit together in some places.

The next step will be to construct a cardboard mock-up to double check. Once that is complete I will be posting the first set of gauntlet templates for download.

So let me know what you think.

OK! I have updated the first post again and here is the first look at the gauntlet templates. These have been the hardest piece of Fett hardware to document; even the jet pack was easy by comparison. They are not finished yet and I still need to test them by building moc-ups, but they are nearly there. Once they are complete the scratch building can begin.

    Re: blueprints

Hello, can anyone help me here? Im in need of blueprints with measurements for everything for a jango AND a boba fett costume.

Im a 501st SL, SL-8582 from garrison titan, and the STT,
And looking into moving into a fett costume. Im looking at working on a jango first as the paint is easier than boba.

Please email me, or pm me any links you might have.

    Thanks

Also, I have a rubies RSDV cloak Id be willing to trade for some fett parts. I have a line on the helmet and armor, but still need basically everything else. Im (if I can get detailed blue prints with measurements) going to make the jango parts out of aircraft aluminum for a more authentic look.

    Let me know,

    Thanks

    Re: Gauntlet blueprints

Im looking for actuall measurements if I can get them. This way I can make the flat layout of the pieces and do the folds, shrinking and stretching the metal as necessary. your blue prints are very nice, but have no measurments to them, which is what I need! if you had a measurement for each line on the blue prints they would be perfect! The only add to that might be add angles to them, where needed.

Without actuall measurements,... pictures dont help much. And you have to do alot of guessing, and create alot of waste trying to get it right.

As I said they still being developed when thay are done I will be posting full size printable templates that will include all the details that you will need to create a set of gauntlets from scratch. For an example, down load the PDF attachment of the Sling gun in the first post of this thread to get a feel of what I am planning to do with the gauntlet drawings.

    http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f20/boba-fett-sling-gun-blueprints-14474/

I won't be posting any dimensions until I have completely mocked up the gauntlets so as to ensure that they are correct. So I am afraid that you will need to wait until I am satisfied that they are ready for posting or you can buy a kit for $200 there are a number of excellent craftsman on this board that put out quality work.

I have created a number of Fett templates and most of the scratch built equipment that you will see here on the board is a result of those templates.

    Alan

P.S. One more thing to consider I post all of my templates for free.

    Re: Gauntlet blueprints

Edit: I don't know if I read that used 3D Max to design the gauntlets (maybe i just saw it in scanning) but I was wondering if you designed those in SolidWorks.

    thanks,

    Re: Gauntlet blueprints

No the Gauntlets have been done completely in AutoCAD. I am in the process of learning Solidworks, but I am a long way from being product with it yet. At some point I will most likely bring them in to Solidworks, to make it easier to resize them, but it will be a while yet.

    Re: Gauntlet blueprints

    Hello,

I know that I have been away from these for awhile and many folks have been asking on updates for Boba’s gauntlets templates. Well you are in for a pleasant surprise. I have to admit that I have been extremely frustrated at my lack of progress on these templates. They have been the most time consuming and complicated Fett project that I have done so far. So at the encouragement of MOJO-Fett (Gavin) I have managed to finally get the draft set of templates near completion and Gavin took on the tasks of reorganizing my mess of template parts into a much more user friendly form, from which he has done a fantastic job assembling the prototypes. Thank you my friend!

There are a few more thinks to work out before the final templates will be posted, so stay tuned!

    Material used is 1mm Foamex (Sintra) So on to the pics;

Alan just needs to finish off the bottom halves then I can mould into shape, then I'll cover all the outer edges with bondo (filler) then round them off. The assembly is really easy with Alan's templates with minor tweeks for lay flat patterns.
More pics will follow once I've bought more Sintra and constructed the outer section to the right gaunt that has the 2 hoses.

Hey Alan, patience is a virtue? no worries when they are ready bud, going foamex shopping this morning so more updates on the gauntlets to come. Alan I think I've had a good idea for the ROTJ flamethrower too... I'll send you the file.
Again thanks allot for this mate, without all of your research and time none of this would happen.

DB- Yeah I scored the upper side (not parallel) lines to form the curve, but that section is the inner section of the two? Klinjo- Sorry for the delay, as I said I just got back from a trip away? I will get them on the thread asap once I have run them passed the 'Master' Alan.. :thumbup

Once MOJO-Fett has completed his prototypes, I was planning to create a set of PDF files for the gauntlet templates one for standard 8.5X11 paper and one for A4 paper. With PDFs there is no fussing with scaling factors, you just print it and then the fun really begins.

    Stay tuned.

Ok.. things got a little slow this end what with hols and lack of materials? but here are some progress shots of the build.
Please ignore the 'tape' as these were used for locating parts etc before I finally fit. Next will come the interesting part of moulding then see if a full set can be made from them....

The lower clam shells go together like a dream (as does most really) huge thanks go to Alan for his drawings/blueprints that brought these to life... :thumbup

Please pass on any comments 'before I go too far' to rectify any issues...

sorry Mojo, don't see this before....today I' ll continue with this...
do you or Alan have the templates of the lower clams shells, and there is some update with the main blueprints?
I'm having some problems with the PVC thickness, cause it's very dificult to adapt it (need a thin pvc for the small parts)...
I think that maybe the best way to work them in PVC would be to first make the big parts ( upper and lower clams shells) and then make in other pvc the small parts....
    any help will be aprecited....
    thnx so much!

    Hello,

The templates are nearly ready for posting they still need a few more tweaks here and there. Hopefully maybe later this weekend if I manage to find a few spare moments.

I don't have the lower clam shells as a seperate file, but they will be included in the final version.

Hi, Mojo, the problem that I have is that the pvc (the ticker one I have at home) make very dificult to work the small parts of the gauntlets...why? because is VERY tick, and modify all the sizes...so, I will save it to make the clam shells, and get some less ticker to make the rest...
as I say, I'll wait for the final templates and make first the clam shells with them...
THANKS SO MUCH, MOJO, and ALAN...
