WOW! The bells look great. I think the damage looks very nice. Your attention to details is amazing. I can't wait to see this armor in person. Keep up the great work.

They most likely "modified all of those castings to fit the new "millennium" look they were shooting for. And the chest pieces, well, there's no reason they couldn't have just simply been trimmed. I took one of my plates recently and trimmed it to match the screen cast jango plate that I have. And sure enough, it was doable. But what's MORE important to me as a "Boba" guy in all this Jango talk , is where exactly did they get the castings of the "Boba" parts anyway? Personally I can't see that they would have spent time re-inventing the wheel and re-creating those parts. Even 3d scan like they did the ROTS Vader bucket. So does that mean they cast a couple of archive items? And if so, that could mean there ARE molds of the armor floating around I think about this scenario all the time And what about the jet pack? Good grief lucy ... it makes me tingle a 'lil bit Unfortunately though, it's been said that when they wrapped up production for Episode II, that most of the molds in the prop dept. were destroyed. Not sure how reliable this is. You can never be sure of anyone these days.

    GREAT SHOULDERS BRO!! :thumbup

And I think you're dead on with the whole Jango theory....
It's like you said, why would they re-invent the wheel???

I think you hit the nail on the head. I have said many times that I felt the helmet and armor were from archive pieces, though I don't believe they did or ever will allow a casting to be made of anything in the archive, but I think your correct about the lineage. There use of 3D scanning with the MR helmet, the Vader ROTS helmet and other props leads me to think that this was done with the armor and the helmet. Never even thought about the gauntlets though but that would make sense as well. I know they still have various molds from the old trilogy but the shape of them is unknown by me as well as what they have and what walked out the door. In pics I have only seen piles of them in storage so who knows for sure. But I am sure they used anything and everything they had to cut corners and keep it "accurate" with out investing to much time into creating those pieces. From my own experience with 3D scanning and using a prototyping machine at a former employer it takes an individual about a week or so to clean up and prep a 3Dmax file for prototyping so this would be a good way to get the gist of a prop and recreate it in some way or in this case alter it with ease to fit an actor much like the helmet.

I wish they would allow the art department the ability to make true castings of the pieces though. Would be beyond cool to know they in some point down the road were originally ROTJ or ESB boba pieces.

You have done a marvelously job of recreating all of this. Just about any dementionality that was over looked has been revisited with a good eye for detail, and you dont just have one... you got two.

I am looking forward to seeing the next get of costumers wearing this stuff.

    Thanks guys

K, the list is drawing to a close. I know it's marked as full, but there are still a couple of members that have not decided yet, and some that have been moved in to replace others. I have to nip that soon so I know how much extra material that needs to be ordered for sure to cover what I don't already have on hand. So the another 48 hours and there will be no more "wiggle room". Just a heads up. PM me if you are wanting to postpone, as there are a couple of members that would like to slide in there.

Thanks again everyone for their kindness

Hey, FP - I sent you a PM a couple of days ago... I would like to get a set of ESB armor, if there is still room on the list? I'm ready to send payment as soon as you give me the green light? Please LMK if you can fit me in? The armor looks beautiful and I'd hate to loose out on an opportunity like this? Please PM or email me at marcvs66'at'yahoo'dot'com.

    Cheers - marcus

Re: FP Armor - Version 3

Volkerc - Your last PM before today was on the 5th. It is VERY easy for these to be overlooked as early on as that was. So when I posted a "48 Hour" waring bell a few days ago for the remaining members on the list to make a decision, you could have sent a PM then reminding of your interest. It is a mistake on my part for overlooking or forgetting your earlier PM, so I do apologize. But I would ask that you have a little more patience in the future. There will be another PM on it's way shortly.

    Thank you ...

    Hey Chris,

I too need to send you shipping funds...that being said, what options on shipping do we have. My being in Canada makes me want Fedex or UPS.

Canada post, may be slower this time of year, not to mention customs may hold stuff.

    thx

Azerin, sorry my brother, I'll be getting to your PM today. Just trying to catch up in order

Headlesshunter - I have still yet to box a complete set to get a quote for our international members. This should be happening TOMORROW. Hang tight

Sixx - Same as above. However, since you are having to pay extra for shipping, it is your choice my friend, which ever YOU prefer

Thanks everyone for their understanding and patience , more to come soon,

Re: FP Armor - Version 3

    Hi Guys !

Thanks for hangin in there for me. I just sent out PM's to all those promised. If for some reason I forgot ANYONE, please let me know here, DON'T send me a PM, it may get lost

Armor production has commenced ! I will be getting as many sets out this week as humanly possible. But there is a MINOR issue that hit me today. The Post Office ... lines from hell

I'm in a fairly small town, so the Post Office is a hassle. And they're always short handed (even during the Holiday rush). But this year, for some reason, is 10 times worse than previous years. So bear with me. I will do what I can. But today I stood in line for an hour and a half to ship previously paid orders for other items So it's going to be touch and go from here on out. Again, I will do what I can. But just a heads up. I will update the thread with status on page 1 next to the names of those that are shipped when they are shipped.

As of today, the list is completely crammed (full) I simply cannot take anymore commitments at this time. Those members I just sent PM's too, are going to be about it. I'm very sorry. But about the middle of January, I will revisit interest and see what I can do. At this point, there may be enough for a second run. Thank you ALL for your kindness, and patience. More to come ..

What are you smokin ? You must be referring to MojoFett being the only one that shows as "Shipped", yes?

Relax bud, that's only because his items happened to be the first boxed, and I took it with about 7 other big boxes of non- V.3 armor related orders (catching up). It's all I could fit in my Ram 1500 in one run

I was going to save this as a surprise, but it appears that at LEAST 15 orders are going out in the next 2 days besides MojoFett. I only committed to 10 before Christmas. (tisk)

Actually, there was no specification with your payment, so I took a guess I was going to contact you about it though, I wouldn't have just gone with a guess, it was sort of a "fill in the blank" based on my conversation with Alex. So thanks for clearing that up

    ----- ARMOR SHIPMENT UPDATE ------

K, I have a nice little update boys and girls ...

There's been about 17 boxes sent in the last 3 days. And now I have a better idea what the shipping is for our International Members, I'll be getting back to those members that are waiting on quotes tomorrow.

I have lots of tracking numbers fro y'all .. my apologies for not getting them posted earlier this evening, but I had been up for 36 hours by the time I got out of the post office tonight (second run today) in an attempt to be as true to my word in getting as many out as I can before Christmas, so when got home I basically passed out So I'm up for a bit now, I will start updating page 1 with all that information. There should be some happy "Fett Heads" for Christmas ... stand by

Re: FP Armor - Version 3

Hi Everyone .. you're too kind. Again, my very humble "thanks" to all of you !

A few Notes about the V.3 Armor -

I wanted to take a quick moment to go over a few last minute possible points of interest before members start receiving their armor. Just to make sure there is clarification, and no surprises for those members that are new to the board and may not be aware. As well as the old timers, that may be getting a touch of "Alzheimer's" <kidding of course>

    POI #1 -

As stated early in this thread, as well as in Post #1, the armor comes to you, "Rough Trimmed". They will NOT look like the gallery pictures posted earlier in the thread. I know, that this is most likely understood, as I have never offered fully trimmed vacuum formed armor due to time involved and trying to keep costs reasonable, but there may be a member here or there that didn't pick up on it. So again, I just wanted this to be clear to everyone. "Rough Trimmed" mens that the main flashing has been removed from around each armor piece. This is actually a service to you, as it's dangerous trimming the large portions of the flashing, hot plastic can HURT YOU It even nipped me yesterday, and now I have a nice little blister on the bottom of my right lower eyelid. A piece flew up UNDER my cute little face shield. So be careful !

But there is usually about 1/8 th up to 1/2 inch left on some pieces. The final trimming is up to the member to do as they see fit (as some like thicker bevels around the edges of the armor, and others like very thin bevels for accuracy).

    POI #2 -

When the armor is shipped, it can have dust on the armor pieces, and they can be a little dirty in appearance (not perfect snow white). Where this is not the norm, it depends my shop environment when the armor is "Rough Trimmed" for shipment. It is a VERY messy job. Rest assured, it's just dust, and wipes right off. There will also be "trimming remnants" or melted "plastic nibs" for lack of a better term, all over the inside of the box, and around the edges of the armor. Again, this is normal for "Rough Trimmed" plastic parts. When all is said and done, armor finish trimmed, it will all clean up very nice with soap and water. Also keep in mind, that the armor parts should to be lightly sanded for "primer" to properly adhere before painting.

    POI #3 -

Trimming. This is mostly up to interpretation, and preference. However, as a general rule, and for highest accuracy to the screen worn parts, the "bevel" around each armor part, or "lip" as seen from the underside of each piece, should be VERY small (thin). So considering this "general rule", each piece should be trimmed with the inside "lip" being no greater than 1/8 th of an inch, a smidgen less is best for proper appearance. This basic principal can be illustrated in an old tutorial thread for V.2 knees from days of yesteryear (literally, last year) Here you will also find a link to the tutorial I made for V.1 knees , posted on my website. Both should probably be read if you are unfamiliar with trimming vacuum formed parts. (pay no attention to the bad spelling and grammar that was never corrected )

    Knee Armor Tutorial Thread

The same principals in this thread, as well as the link to the knee tutorial on my website, should be applied to the V.3 knees (disregard the assembly instructions of course). Trimming only. These principals can also be generally applied to trimming the rest of your armor. So check it out. If anyone needs further assistance, post here, and I'll do my best to assist you all.

    POI #4 -

There was a nice little update made to the Backplate right before production commenced. I didn't have time to post it sooner, because of the crunch.

This update was made thanks to the keen eyeballs of one of our very own here participating in this thread. A special thanks to Kbrosseau for pointing out this little detail that I've overlooked for years.

The Jet Pack/Rocketpack housings on each side of the backplate have very light "tracks" for the nylon straps to ride between. Again, a nice little detail added right under the wire Again, to Kbrosseau ! (The pic below should show in about 15 minutes or so, my server is being updated)

A note about shipping. There are a couple of international members that still need shipping quotes. In the interest of speedy delivery, I have taken the liberty of covering the shipping in advance for some. I will send PM's out this evening to make arrangements for reimbursement. I trust that no one here would leaving my holding the bag on that I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss the window on getting your armor as soon as possible. Rest assured, I was fair, and got you the best bang, for your bucks

Hellopike - your knees were to be fulfilled after as many complete sets were put together as possible. Because of the plastic supply , I am always unable to part orders out until I know what I have left over from the complete set orders so that I don't short the those kits. This is standard for me. I thought I made that clear, if not, you have my sincere apologies. I should be able to get them out for you when the next plastic shipment arrives, perhaps by the end of the week (as it turns out, I'm working through Christmas anyway and not talking off 10 days to go home for the Holidays as originally planned) Second Holiday in a row

I should be around and contactable through the weekend should anyone need to speak with me about anything else. Perhaps even Monday. After that, I'm in blackout as most of you probably will be for Christmas. So I'd like to take this opportunity (in case I miss it later), to thank each and everyone one of you again for your patience, commitment, and support ! And last, but certainly not least ... to wish a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, to you and yours! May all of your wishes, hopes, and dreams come true in this magical season !

I walked out of my house late today, just prior to starting the family xmas eve festivites, and found a big fedex box on my porch. As my wife and I both are transplants here, we get a lot of boxes with gifts around the holidays. I took the box in the garage and dumped it with the rest of the gifts.

Two or three hours later - as my wife was furiously wrapping gifts - I went out in the garage and remembered the fedex box. Not recognizing the shipper, I opened it up. Oh my! Brand new, FP armor! What an amazing xmas gift! I can't wait to get to work on it!

    Happy Holidays!

Wow! The 22nd??? I shipped that box on the 18th (got the customs slip in front of me) I didn't realize that it takes so long to get out of the U.S. Sorry man. I would think you'd be getting the box anytime now though.

Thanks for the kind words everyone ! And thanks for the flu tips I'm quite a bit better. I don't think it went full blown like it could have. But I'm still taking it a little easy just in case. I've heard stories of people getting it, and thinking they were over it, only to have it hit them with a furry. But I'm not sitting on my thumbs either. I'm just not going to pull anymore all nighters for a bit until I know I'm out of the woods

Yes, the PM box is full again. I'm going to need to go through it today sometime and sort it out. Sorry about that. I haven't been up here for a few days. Just so those of you know (that don't already), my significant other checks up here from time to time to make sure the sky isn't falling for me when I'm down. So even if I'm logged in, it may not be me

Seeker ... my bad bro. I had 6 boxes stacked up with Delivery Confirmations "pre-stuck" to the boxes that haven't gone to the post yet. I got stubs mixed up. Yours was one of them. So it will be going out today hopefully with a bunch over other stuff. I boned it. I know :o But I'm sure you'll forgive me. It may take some time, but you will

An update on the remaining armor orders : more material was ordered on the 17th, so it the shipment should be here any day now. I'm thinking probably tomorrow. If so, I will be prepping the remaining orders for shipment. If it doesn't show, it will have to be an early week project come Monday.

Additional slots - I can fit a couple of more into the current now that I've re-ordered material. After this run is concluded, I will see what I have left over for a second run if there is interest.

Donnie - that's because your little box was in the same pile as Seeker's So, it wasn't quite a "Ho, Ho, Ho" I know. But I will make a point of taking it with the rest of what I have to get to the post today. I did hook you up a little for being such a great sport

I think that's about it? I know I'm forgetting something If I have, just post it here and I'll get to it as soon as I can. I will clean out the PM box sometime today as well. Thanks again to everyone. And it tickles me pink that you all like your new armor !!!

Thanks, FP! I was just concerned that the post office had lost the package in the holiday rush!

In Luke's high pitched ANH voice (when convincing Han to help rescue the princess) ...

    "You WILL"

Glad you are feeling better Chris... bit of a rubbish time of year to get it too...

As for Armour, just check item number again and not entered this side yet (same response as last three days)...

    *fingers crossed*

Thanks a bunch Gavin Man, that sucks about the package. I can't imagine that it wouldn't have made it out of the U.S. by now. Yes, fingers crossed

    Tell ya what ...

I'll make sure you're not the last, K? I just won't send Seeker's out until you've received yours

(flinch, squint, duck and run for cover from Turo's wrath)

I don't think I could have Seekers wrath and your injury on my conscience bro...
I'm sure you have seen Turo's 300 costume? that spear could do allot of damage... Do NOT bend over...
