ESB right gauntlet whipcord LED's...what color are they???

I think it's pretty clear that the rear one is red.After looking at RS there are two red LED's a dark red,and a light red.Has anyone given thought to which red is more like the original?

Then there is the front LED.I've tried placing green,yellow,clear LED's on the whipcord housing and the only one that looks right is the clear one.Again has anyone else looked into this small detail and come up with a conclusion?

I just popped my LED's in a week ago today actually.

After going though all the pictures I had, I came up with a red for the rear (my radio shack only had one red, and it looked right to me--so, not sure if I can help you there).

The front LED I went with a clear.

Sort of. Believe it or not, none of my RS's near me had true clear LEDs. Instead, I got a LED that LOOKS clear, but when turned on, is actually blue! Thought that was pretty cool. Haven't wired my LEDs up. Not sure if I ever will. But, when they're off anyway, they are red and clear.

Helps a bunch My interpretation of the red one is the darker of the two that RS has.The other seems to be clear to me also,so at least I know I was on the right track.

Oh,and yeah all the clear bulb LED's at RS were listed on packaging as "blue",so I suppose when turned on the clear would become blue.I would love to have mine worked off the two micro. switches on the top of the gauntlet,but haven't figured out a suitable power source.

My rear LED is also a dark red one, and my front one is clear when off, but greenish yellow when on! It still looks pretty cool. I wired mine to work off the 2 micro swithches as you were planning to do DL. My first attempts were w/ a 9 volt, but I could never get the right resister set up right, (kept burning out my bulbs!) :o Finally I used watch batteries & they worked great! No resisters, etc needed! Your local Radio shack should have a large supply of the little round suckers! All you do is solder your wire from the + side of battery, then to the sitch, then to the LED, then back to the - side of battery. Apparently RadioShack makes watch battery-holders that probably work best, but they were all out, so I had to solder my wires directly to the battery. Just be really carefull not to get them too hot, they blow up sometimes! Hope that helps a bit!

Thanks for the wiring tips JK! I too tried a 9v,but alas I realized real quick it was overpowered. I'll have to get me some watch batteries

You bet DL44! Like I said, get some watch battery-holders too if they have them. If you have to resort to soldering directly too the battery, heres a few tips: Get the largest watch battery you can find! (they make them nearly as big as a quarter) One side of the Bat. is +, the other side is -, its really easy to accidently run solder out to the edge of the Bat. & you end up w/ a direct short & hear all kinds of fizzing & usually a pop that indicates your bat is junk! Only get the surface of the bat hot enough to barely melt your solder. If you get it too hot, your battery will blow up in your face! Its just a little pop, but its usually suprising enough to make you take a trip to the bathroom! It only takes a tiny bit of solder, just enough to barely stick the wire on, then use tape & wrapp the battery up real well when your finished! I did try just taping the wires to the battery, but it didn't work well. seems like you need that little bit of solder to make a good connection! Well, enough rambling.
