    Mar 24, 2013, 2:57 AM - ESB armor & No PollyScale Paints #1

My RKD armor arrived a couple weeks ago, and it's almost ready for color. I have a little finish sanding to do tomorrow and a final coat of primer. My Spring Break is here and I thought it would be a perfect time to knock out the armor.
In preparation for this, I've been scouring the cold north here for the recommended rattlecan colors, to no avail. So i resigned myself to airbrushing the paint color scheme from Jeremy Bulloch's armor paint-up. New problem: PollyScale & Floquil paints are no longer available in Canada!
Looks like I'll be mixing various paint colors together to get a decent color match. I think I can get away with just Testors MM enamels on the green pieces, but the shoulders and knees will have to be sprayed with MM acrylics.

If anyone's got any experience with using MM paints for ESB armor, I'd love to hear some ideas...

    From what I understand:

model master 1764 Euro dark green is equivalent to polly scale u.s. medium green, and model master panzer olivegrun is the equivalent to polly scale panzer olive green. I hope this helps.

Living in Australia, we have fairly limited access to a good range of floquils and pollyscales.. So I tend to go for humbrols which are far more readilyavailable. However, if there is a particular colour that I really need or really would like to try for a colour test, eBay has access to pretty much any colour you need - so maybe that's an option if you just can't find colours you are happy with..

I managed to find CN-W Green (centre diamond) from the PollyScale replacement paint line: TrueLine Acrylic (still made by Testors).

I do have lots of access to Humbrols (Got my complete collection for my helmet paint-up already). I found Mojo's humbrol paint list too. So...
How many tins of green 76 will I need for complete coverage of all the chest/back/cod?

    Comparison...

The codpiece is Humbrol 76, and the buttplate is Model Master Medium Green FS34102. Which do you like?

From the 2 colors the butt plate is the correct one, the cod plate is too green.

Should I consider a 3rd color, or go with the medium green (buttplate)?

Judging by your image, there is too much yellow light (possibly from the camera or the phone) and those colors looks greener than they are in reality (?). I color corrected your image by reducing the yellow and the result is closer to the ESB color:

Maybe a bit of blue might solve your problem, but I highly recommend to do some color testing.
