Thank you! That was very nice of you to say... I'm taken back.
DUDE! I don't even know what to say!!
This is FRIGGIN' INGENIUS!!!
You're doing such an amazing job!!!
Wow, this is amazing, what kind of foam sheets were you using? I dont know that i've seen those at the craft store before, they seem to take the paint pretty well though.
Thank you!
This build has been fun & I'm so very glad I started it when I did! I still have people asking me why did you start so soon? Halloween is so far away... I just sum up the story and say... "I'm not sane"
Foam = Go to camping section find the foam mat you sleep on.. "usually in a Blue roll" Good luck! =)
This has got to be THE best SW gift a parent can give his kid! I bet your boy's gonna be over the moon with the end result!
He wont want to take it off! Will you let him wear it to school, shops.....bed? lol
lookin good
I will let him wear it when/where ever he wants.. After all this work and how fast he grows he had better destroy it by wearing it out! LOL!
First bucket pull & it's a really good thick cast!
Just have three more ear pieces to make and mold them then clean & paint everything up and it's done!

What I would have given to have a helmet like this when I was making my son's Fett suit. Awesome work!
Looks awesome vod!!!![]()
Ok I'm done! I'm so stoked that I'm done!
Any way worked like crazy and here it is!
Molded up that last sculpt...
More molding..
Range finder..
Right side ear piece's...
Left...
Ear/range finder cap...
Range finder antenna... "big & small"
Here they are all cleaned up!
I'm waiting for some Magnet's in the mail then I will assemble this bad boy! Until then I will be painting it.
This is what it looks like on the Kid But since this picture I have trimmed it and will be putting foam inside so it will fit better... Needless to say he loved it!

He is one lucky kid. I dreamed of having a Halloween costume like this. Very well done.
wow that is so awesome! He is one lucky little star wars fan
You are without a doubt the 2nd coolest dad in the world (just trailing mine, of course ;P )
How much time did it take you to sculpt your sons bucket???
Man, if you could make a career out of it, you could make it in like a day!!!!!
Also, did you use a base for the sculpt, or is the helmet sculpt, like 1 giant ball of Mando clay???
hehe.. i love this thread! can't wait to see what the finished product is gonna look like!!!
Exelent work bro. very inventive and its looking VERY nice... I think its really cool that your putting all together for your son, he must be very proud of you! GOOD WORK!vant wait to see it on him
That is absolutely AMAZING! You have a lot of artistic talent! Your son is going to remember that for a long time! So awesome!
Ok I still have some battle damage to paint but this thing is done!
Kid loves it & I'm happy with it.
I was thinking I would clean up one and re-Mold it. anyway...
without a flash...
;D
Man, that is awesome!!! You ROCK!!! :P
So I thought I would post on here how I installed the Range finder on here...
The Pink dot's Represent "Earth Magnets" This is how the Antenna is held in place so if it needs to be replaced it can be without removing the Ear cap.

Well My son is an Official Mandalorian Merc. I'm such a proud Father.
WOW one of the coolest freaking kids costumes I have every seen!!! Your one awesome dad!Can you adopt me? Hehehe...
Thomas, there should be more dad's out there like you. I can remember being 4, and my father making me an Abraham Lincoln hat for a costume at pre-school. It's one of the few memories I have of being 4, and I'm sure your son will be able to remember this 30 years later to.
=)
Thank you Vod. that just hit me rite there... I hope he does.
"are you crying? Hu? That's funny! Dunadada da dandada I'm ok..."
Guys like you are why my kids aren't allowed on here. I don't want them seeing what "cool" dad's are doing for their kids!
"Here son, put this paper bag on your head and this PBR case box on your chest. Now you're a friggin Transformer!" "Go play in the road kid!"
Dude I just stumbled across this thread today. all i can say is WOW!!!!!!!!! :thumbup
That outfit rocks! I so need to make one for my six year old. That is the coolest thing i've seen for a while now. Hats off vod!![]()
Bravo man, that looks fantastic! He'll be the coolest kid trick or treating this year I garauntee it.
And what the heck do they put in the water out there in AZ? There's A LOT of talented people out that way.
Nice work!
Love the mini Fett
dude you need to get a job doing this. WOW! You are also a great person insode for doing this for that young fella.
Thank's everyone! Your compliments are touching, I think it's great that you all like it and feel I should work in the industry... I think I'm going to start looking into it.
I've been watching this thread from the start, and all I can say is "amazing!" You are one cool dad.
Your end product came out amazing. i have the helmet I got from you all bondo'ed up still. Having to many projects going on at once has put it on the back burner for the moment.
Okay this is going to sound like a dumb question but with the mold how do you get the helmet to be hollow? i just don't get it.
Hey, GREAT job, man! That came out simply AMAZING!![]()
Merc's Invade KidsFaire 2009! Solus Keer & Bob'ika from clan Shonare Vhekedla Invade KidsFaire coming in through the back entrance "as any good bounty hunter should" of the Jobing.com arena in Glendale Az. home of the Phoenix Cardinals, They rolled the grass out so the event could be held on the main floor, it was HUGE! There were kids every where being entertained with Camel's, Pony's, Inflatable Slide's & Play Lands, a live stage with the Kids Bop singers, Pirates, Cow Boy's & even a place to mine for gold!
Meeting up with Jango & Collecting our first bounty on Dora & Boot's, We made our way onto the event floor where we were swarmed by Star Wars fans! They couldn't get enough of us we were a big hit. Every kid that saw Bob'ika was so envious and Loved his kit.
When we caught up with everyone @ the booth Bob'ika was stuck on Darth Vader & with the two together it made Me smile thinking this is "just like in the movies!" it was epic. We hung out & took pictures with fans as Solus Keer made kids cry while Bob'ika was putting smiles on Everyone... This was a very exciting event, the 501st, RL & the Merc's all trooped today, we put our costumes on and joined forces to entertain, excite, intrigue, frighten & even stimulate the minds of kid's & Parents alike. I think our future event's with our Vode in these other groups will be something to get involved in!
But every bounty hunter needs some R&R so Bob'ika went and enjoyed the event after a while..

Those are sweet pics. Great job on the Mandalorian costume. I'm actually working on my kids helmets today. This Bondo stuff is a pain to get off. ;-)
Are you making copies of the helmet for others? I bought a child size helmet for my 5-y/o but it was too small, so I'm on the hunt.
Scott
Oh man, congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Leo
Thank you!
Got your Pm.
Nice work Mr looking great cant wait to see it on lil boba
wow, you have realy cool ideas how to do it simple .... fantastic.. respect to you....
Way cool! The foam is such a great idea. That should hold up for quite a few years too.
Awesome!!!
I know I have said it before but YOU ARE AMAZING that looks awesome!!!!
in 79 my dad helped me make a robot costume, your son will have this great memories all his life. good work pops
Thanks everyone! That last one made Me smile thank you. Here he is on a troop we did yesterday.

Outstanding. I really can't do more than echo what everybody else has already said. Great work.
Man this was fun. I'm going to start on his Custom Mando he's requested in the spring.
Hey One End!... Cool build!
I don't know if this was addressed earlier in the thread...
Where did you get the foam sheets for your son's armor?
How did the painted armor hold up?
How did you shape it? Did it retain its shape?
How did you attatch it to the suit?
I'm going to start a Jango for my 10 year old and want something that can flex. He plans to wear it at CV and to school on Halloween. So I want it to be soft and somewhat pliable.
Thank you!
I just saw this thread, and I have to say it is freaking awesome. To make a costume like that for your son is just really awesome. I can't imagine how it feels for a child of that age to dress up as Boba Fett (I know how it feels to be a 26 year man, he he he ). I hope to make the children I have some day Star Wars costumes like this:thumbup
It's very fulfilling indeed.
I am absolutely floored at how awesome that looks, especially given that it's made of foam! You win major "cool-dad" points. My mom did some pretty elaborate costumes for me as a kid (she's a seamstress) but this is just flat-out epic.
Well done!
That is adorably awesome. You're an awesome dad to do that. It's great that the two of you can troop together. I hope that I'm as cool of a father as you are when I have kids. Outstanding work!
Thank you guys, I'm currently in the planning stages for a custom Mando for him that he's going to help Me paint in the next few months since I have to get him ready for the Phoenix Con.
AWESOME BUILD!!! SIMPLY AMAZING!
that is a great costume. very talented.
I am new to this site and I went through the entire 2 pages of posts absolutely gripped! I love your work, especially the sculpting of the helmet!
You did a superb job. Outstanding.
Thank you Sir.
Some advice... Dont get over whelmed and have fun!
That is without doubt the BEST kids costume in the world !!!!
This was such a good build that this thread become a classic and will be viewed for years and years.
I'm still viewing the thread today! Awesome WIP thread. Congratulations to both you and your son.
Wow , Just now noticed this thread. Awesome ! And it looks like you both had a great time Congratulations.
this is probably my favorite costume I've ever seen made lol. this is the kind of thing your son will remember forever. The effort you put into this armor is fantastic, but the effort you're putting into your son's childhood is even more immense
way to be
totally amazing.. u rock all kinds bro!
Great Job on the entire project for your son, i am in the middle of making a custom boba armor for my kid and would like to see if you have any blank molds of the bucket you are will to sell if so that would be great, thanks
Amazing job!
Always brings a smile to my face to see kids in Boba gear, must be the greatest feeling in the world. Great work on this too.
