    Carboard Jet Pack

Hi guys, I'm Scorlord, Scor for short, long story why I use the name. Anyways I got into the "armor" making after my dad got me a Ruby's Boba Helmet. Which I promptly modded and thinking about making a new one. So then I ordered off ebay chest and shoulder armor, and started a slightly scratch build on a cardboard jet pack. I've used patterns and such, but most of that goes out the window when I get to the cardboard cutting.

When I worked at a butcher shop I nabbed all the empty cardboard boxes, coragated, and started on the jetpack. Also got some plastic tubing from a plotter at school, and tons of hot glue, and white glue.

At the moment I've been cleaning the edges with another ton of spacle, and sandpaper. Since this is my first try its being respaded by spacle, yeah for shotty work. I'm hoping to finish up the spacle work and start work on the greeble work.

That looks great, my jp is cardboard as well. However you need to be careful with the hotglue. I relied on it very heavily with my jp and it half falls apart after every outing. I would recommend reinforcing the jp with whatever you can find, such as some sort of epoxy, etc. Keep up the great work!

Does anyone recomend a good suppler for Boba Fett parts? I wanting to get a premade rocket for my cardboard pack, since I'm really not pleased with how the cups are turing out. Until then I'm currently working on my gaunts, using cardboard and foam board, pics will be up.

I recently built a rocket I think looks rather good, not screen quality, but least it keeps me motivated.

looks great! I made my JP out of cardboard/PVC piping, quite a task :P I don't have my rocket done yet so if you find a good supplier for them let me know!
    Great job!

you should cast that puppy with some silicon caulk and sell it as a starter jet pack rocket.

    Re: Carboard Jet Pack

The rocket is gonna be shortened, cause my two white cylinders, just foamboard and cardstock, are too big. I still have some detail work to put on her, mainly the base where I have it screw on and off. I want to try and hide the edge better. As for strengthening the entire pack I'm gonna wait till I'm happy with everything. And this nerfer has caused me so much trouble I'd never sell it.

Hey man I could make you a rocket if you want. Send me your email and i'll send you some pics if you want. You have a good solid JP body all it seems to need is a little more
smoothing here and there so you're doing a great job and keep up the good work.

Okay I did a little work on my rocket, I shortened her, smoothed it out, and hid the "screw" point in the pack. I'm quite happy with this pack, I would like to upgrade to a better pack, or at least rocket in the future, and may just make a cast of the body with a new rocket in the future.

    Re: Carboard Jet Pack

Hey guys, long time, no post, mainly do to the fact I repainted my motorcycle helmet. Well I've been working on the jetpack and been bondoing, sanding, bondoing, sanding, etc. So I recently slapped some primer on it to find all the rough areas and such and though I'd post it up.

I still need to work on finishing the fuel ends, and get my thrusters done. I'm trying to get it ready for a cheap coat of green pain for Halloween. Also I have a picture of my armor at its present status. The middle part was left out cause I forgot to put it in before the pic.

I recently got a jumpsuit, which is way to dark at the moment, so I've been washing it, and bleaching it. Once that's done I'm gonna go match the fabric color and finish the soft parts on it.

Still need to build a better helmet, currently have a Rubies. Build the guantlets, belts, gun(I use a Thompson for cheap pictures) knee, groin, and boots. Plus all the minor details.

I am about to embark on my cardboard jetpack. I was wondering has anyone thought of reinforcing the internal cavity of the jetpack with some of that foaming insulation material (Great Stuff) to keep it from being hollow. I think it might add some strength to the overall body.

I have several ribs for every structure. Also some bondo on the joints helps.

I used Great Stuff in my scratchbuild... but.... the stuff will continue to expand long after you think it has cured. You MUST leave a route for it to flow out of and then trim it later.

extremely clever using the bottle and cap to make the rocket detatchable. did you use anything else besides spackle to reinforce the cardboard?

Long time no post, well still working on the jetpack, well recently started back up. Yeah for soul crushing jobs!. I'll post some progress shots up tomorrow, and yes I blatantly stole that bottle idea. It was such a good idea.

Oh and I should rephrase saying its mostly spackle, and bondo.
