    Sep 1, 2007, 11:45 AM - can I use this paint? #1

    Hey kids,

Can I use regular medium green to paint my armor or should I just stick to US medium green? The colors seem pretty close but I wanted to double check before I do any spraying. any help would be great

Well, according to the color experts, the US Med Green is the "correct" color.
I did a color test when I was getting ready to paint my armor, using Testors Green (Model Master #1910), which according to the FS color charts, had the same number as the Polly Scale US Med Green. It was sort of close, but it was obviously off.
After studying reference pics for hours, the US Med Green really is the closest "out of the bottle" color that I've seen.

Here's what I'm talking about. The armor plates with damage are painted with US Med Green. The plain green ones are the Testors Green.

Did you mask off the damaged areas or paint it on top of the green?

Did you airbrush the green on, use a bristle brush or spray paint? It looks like airbrush to me.

It was actually applied with one of those dense make up sponges. It gave a very subtle, uneven "oxidized" appearance to the armor.
It's really hard to photograph. But it's not 100% smooth like if it were airbrushed.

I have no idea what brand they were. My original package is long gone. Just search thru Target or Wal Mart or someplace with a make up section and look for a package of white wedge-shaped little sponges. They probably come in a pack of 6 or 8 for $2-3.
