boba fett ROTJ jetpack - strip colours back to silver or grey primer?

starting to paint my rotj jetpack, just wondering if you strip the colour back to the silver or the grey primer?

What are you asking exactly? Im confused as to what your talking about.

i primed then painted silver . then i masked off the silver where its seen . finish off all the painting . then sand down with 600 grit sandpaper . that will take off the mask and give it the weathered look.
i use Miskit liquid frisket for mask . local art supply .
