Wow! Congratulations! :)
Dang Art that is awesome congrats on the acquisition and thanks for sharing.
Very cool. Nice addition to your collection.
Holy moley! Nice score Art! .....and just in time, as im suculpting my gauntlets currently. May i PM you for more specific measurements? would love tol get mine as close to these as i can!
congrats Art...
Here is the shot that sealed the deal for me. Because these are castings from the inside of the gauntlets, they essentially recreate the original molds... so the questions was whether or not the Casio MQ-1 would fit in the tray of the left gauntlet properly. As you can see from the photo below, the calc fits beautifully, with just a bit of room to spare all the way around... and that room is accounted for by the thickness of the vacuum formed shell, so the fit is essentially perfect!

That is so sweet!!!
This is very cool. Thanks for sharing.
:thumbsup
Thanks for the kudos, guys! I am thrilled to own these but even more thrilled to be able to share them with you. I initially thought I wasn't going to be able to share that i had acquired them and that was really bumming me out, so I was completely stoked when Max said I could talk about them publicly. I think these are my most prized Boba Fett piece to date. I love my GMH helmet, but there are multiple castings of that helmet floating around, yet to the best of my knowledge, these are the ONLY gauntlets with lineage back to the originals!
Congrats ,truly an awesome acquisition ! Thanks for sharing.
W00h00!!! What awesome news, Art! Another milestone in the TDH timeline!
Nice find Art.
I think that "battery" button is the battery door from the MQ-1, has the same little "box" around the word battery n all.... Check it out...

it just so happened i kept all the parts of the one i dismantled to use the keypad/circuit board.
HOLY **** i think you nailed that one DV

Wonder why they did that though...
Hahahaha!! LOOK AT THAT!!! You would think that I would have been able to ID that (since I discovered the MQ-1 years and years ago), but it never even crossed my mind! GREAT find Darth Voorhees!!! I will pull out my MQ-1 today and snap a photo of the two together!
Nice one Lou! :D
OK, things like this just make my day and have set my morning off right. I high tailed it out to my parts box and had to dig out an MQ-1 battery cover to shoot. Now, granted, this is NOT the best angle or anything, but Darth Voorhees nailed it. It is clearly the MQ-1 part! You can see that it was sunk into the the rest of the gauntlet build. This find is really important for two reasons:
1) it is another verifiable reference that sculptors and builders can use to help them scale their replica gauntlets and
2) it allows me to verify that my castings have minimal shrinkage and are indeed the right size!
Thanks again DV!

Clearly I am. You know what I am disappointed in the most? When I first saw that detail I thought to myself "well, we will never figure this one out." Stupid me! There is very little of the Fett costume the members of this site haven't been able to figure out over the years! I should have never doubted that one of you guys would be able to ID it!
Awesome. Great to see the battery cover detail too.
No problem Art! Glad i helped set your morning off right!
It was so random how i thought of it. I just figured it was a battery cover of some sort..and i recalled the MQ-1 having a cover that said battery...just couldnt remember if it was actually raised lettering or printed...so i went through my MQ-1 parts and when i pulled it out...i thought oh..this has got to be it!
Small as it is, im glad i discovered a found item and have a small contribution to helping others get their replicas closer to perfect.
Anyways..see ya at C6 Art!
awesome discovery's this week, another step forward for boba fett and the fans!!!!!!!
Nice finds guys!
Here is something cool... I did some measurements today to see how far off my casting is from the original part... less than .1 of a mm! Not too bad!
Amazing job ID'ing that so quickly DV! I think I owe you a drink at C6 for that.
Incredible, this board is unreal, thanks Art and DV for another fantastic piece made public and the new discovery.
Son of a B!@#$ Awesome find Lou and it makes perfect sense that they would do something like that!!
You know I was looking at that left gauntlet (and I may be WAY off here) but the way it looks, it almost seems to have a race car/dragster body appearance (or at least part of it...maybe a section of a body frame or something??).
Anyone else wanna chime in on this?
I'm guessing this has already been discussed before in a long dead thread, but humor me lol ;)
You know the right guant does too...looking at the shape of the top it looks like a rearview window vacformed, sucks in a little...

They did use A LOT of model parts on these suits guys its totally viable theory here.
Thanks Art...
Ok i did this by color so we dont get confused lol. I guess just quote the post and put the measurements under each pic with the color line it coincides with.

Totally saving these pics when the measurments are on! :P
Art thanks for sharing and thanks for creating the dented helmet. I can only imagine what else is out there.
DV, give me a couple of days and I will get those measurements posted up. Thanks for doing the leg work on this and making it easy for me!
BTW, for those saving they think they seem some type of model vehicle frame in the right gauntlet... let me tell you... I see it too, clear as day. I don't know what it is, but it appears to me that it is all one piece and I feel like it MUST be some type of vehicle hull or frame... like the underbody to a tank or jeep or something! I think I will throw pics up in the modeling section at the RPF and see what those guys can make of it. They have been able to help me ID some pretty darn obscure model parts before.
Can you imagine what it would do for gauntlets if we could ID that main component on the right gauntlet?!? :):):)
One thing to note right away on the measurements, is that they will be approximates. A lot of those lines you have created go to edges, that aren't really edges, but rounded corners. I will do my very best to give you as accurate measurements as possible, but please keep those rounded edges in mind.
Thanks again Art for doing this! Even approximate measurements will be more than awesome :thumbsup
Great idea on posting it up on RPF too, I hope someone can make heads or tails of it even if they're not model car bodies :)
Alright, here are the measurements for the left gauntlet. Go forth and sculpt!!!

What an awesome find, Art and a great asset to the TDH community! Simply amazing! And congratulation to Darth Voorhees for pointing out the MQ-1 battery cover as part of the left gauntlet.
Art, can you share with us the hi-rez version of the image you posted on the gauntlet presentation page? Especially because we can see the Supertrooper sling gun too:

Thanks!

Here you go.
Now, that was fast! Thanks a lot!
Awesome! Thanks Art!
Will try to get the right gaunt tomorrow. Just stressing a bit over the As You Wish Project right now.
No worries man. Thats a big dealio! Looking forward to seeing the helmets!
Besides, me personally, im only at the left gauntlet stage right now lol.
Same here man, no worries. Whenever you get around to it...and thanks again
Hi Art, get a chance to measure up the right gaunt yet?
Wow... awesome thread! many thanks for sharing with us Art...
Good eye DV too ;)
This is so very cool in so very many ways. Awesome find Art and yes, thank you for sharing!
It tickles me that these things are still being discovered (good eye DV!). Even my wife thinks it's cool when some new doodad is ID'd!
It made my day finally seeing this thread! :cheers
amazing thread and dedication to the fett. tip my hat to everyone involved
Guys, I owe you an apology. I should have had these measurements to you some time ago. Anyway, here are the requested measurements from the right gauntlet. Please keep in mind there are NO sharp edges on the right gauntlet, so all of these measurements are approximately based on the sharpest "corner" of each edge.

Awesome, thanks Art! Now worries on the time brother. this is going to be a winter project for me :)
Apology? Are you kidding me?! lol No worries my friend. I think we all know just how crazy busy you have been so...Thank YOU so much for taking the time out of your schedule to make these available to us. These images and measurements are invaluable. On behalf of all of us, thank you VERY very much.
Now to get to work ;)
