Armor Thickness

Hi, Im fairly new to this forum and i have a question based on armor thickness: What is the best thickness of armor i could make out of plastic?

I went for approx 6mm thick, and used a plastic garbage bin (outdoors type) for my armour.

You can norrmaly make it look thicker than it is by bending the sides inwards. (If doing custom, clone trooper, ect.) Which is better than actully making it thick becouse of weight.

But if your doing traditional Fett the above size sounds about right. And weight is not a big prob.
