    Apr 12, 2009, 6:08 PM - Yet Another Cardstock Fett Bucket! #1

Well, I decided to do another scratchbuilt Boba bucket so I can get a decent mold made. I decided to go with Skupilkinson's pep file instead of WOF templates. No real reason behind this except that I have used WOF templates before and wanted to try out a pep Fett bucket. I had most of the basic build done in 2 or 3 hours....paper craft is amazing, but I hate cutting stuff out. I'm probably just lazy ! Enjoy...

looks good so far. first coat of resin?

i put this thing together last week and glassed it yesterday... had some pretty bad warping on the dome but started fixing that today.

    good luck.

Yep! I just put on a thin coat of resin. I'll probably hit it again tomorrow and start some glassing and bondo. I really don't think the clean up will take too long. It is much cleaner and smooth than my Iron Man pep build. Got any pictures of yours???

yea i got some picks of it... I'm still not aloud to post a new thread yet, but when i do have the ability to I'm going to post them.

did the dome give you any problems when folding? i have done a good amount of pepping but for some reason that part gave me some troubles.

I actually thought the dome was very easy. The upper cheeks on fett helmets are always a pain, but skips pep made them easy as well.

Ya, I decided to share it over there as well. They need more scratchbuilding! There is a lot of WAY awesome stuff over there, but it always seems like there are A LOT more buyers than guys who build for themselves. Must have more money than me!

Yea the majority of the prop hobby now buys their stuff instead of building, very few builders left out there.

I can't wait to how your helmet turns out,I think I read on RPF that you are giving it a resin coat and then fiberglassing it,am I correct?

Yep! Brushing on 2 or so coats of resin will harden it up a bit before you glass in the interior. Then it is on to bondo, fill, sand, fill, sand, prime, sand.......

Haha! I know! The weather has been AMAZING! I did a lot of work but nothing worth taking pictures of. I also don't have as much time as I would like because I'm a full time student and have a full time job. I actually decided to mix and match some of Skip's pep files with WOF templates. I'm going to use the pep dome and checks and the rest will be WOF. Should be pretty interesting. I also have been pulling some casts of a dent, bourdon connector (tusk), and MQ1 from my other helmet.

Yep! The pepakura master, Skupilkinson, made the helmet and gauntlets. They are very nice, but I decided to mix and match the WOF and pep files. I felt like the pep dome and cheeks were VERY nice, but I have always liked the way WOF made the build for the rest of the helmet. The whole inner layer and outer layer thing. If you've made a WOF helmet, you'll know what I mean.

Here are some new progress pics. I will need to highly sand the dome to cut down on the curve and slightly flatten the top. I might even switch it out for a batting helmet. I don't know!!
