Will I measure up to the 501st standards?

   I'm sorry but it occured to me that once a topic goes off topic or asks a question that members are pationate about, we all start arguing like little old women!
I am a relative noob compaired to some here but as far as I can see it's a good helmet. Assuming it arrives safely (fingers crossed) and needs strengthening then that can be done with ease, IF it doesn't need strengthening... all the better. Myster, MS2, Bobamaker or recast matters not! Whilst I agree that it is better to get a bucket from the maker then a recast from someone else, if you like it, and it fulfills your requirements (ie; once painted is suitable for the 501st) then that's all that matters. And I see no reason why it shouldn't be acceptable for the 501st, especially with Webchiefs help!
As to the standard advice of "check eBay" perhaps it's time to rethink that advice. It might prove better to send the interested party information on how to get a deceant helmet via pm or email, telling him/her how to contact the maker/s instead of running the gauntlet of scammers on eBay. Additionally, it might not be a bad idea to list helmets with details so that people can see what is considered a good buy and what isn't.

Good luck with the helmet Christo Fett, and I for one want to see progress pics.

Yeah man, this is your first helmet! I was actually going to bid on it myself but then opted not to -- for other reasons :); but yeah, you can fix it up I am sure and have a great looking Fett, then after a while you will grow to decide what you like best on your personal outfit!

;)

Yes, I am quite psyched to get it. And I'll have help from webchief, who happens to be the GML of my local 501st garrison, as well as a great guy. Considering the purpose of my initial posting was to make sure that what I chose for a helmet will be good enough for my local garrison, I'd say that I got more than the help I was looking for.

I do support the idea of getting your bucket from it's original maker, I just didn't know that I wasn't. And I will definitely post some pics of my progress with this helmet.

Thanks to everyone who had something constructive to say and most of all, thanks webchief!

Thanks! I was just attempting to try to be funny. But to get back to the subject at hand. That helmet will be fine, I mean what helmet does'ent get modified when building it from scratch! And if it needs to be reinforced with some more fiberglass so be it! It's not that hard. I personally have a modified Don Post and would be stoked to get to build that helmet from scratch recast or not!

The think the thing that Marrow Sun is trying to convey is if people keep buying cheap casted helmets when they do not have to, they will keep making them to sell and people will keep buying them. Why get a helmet where you have to basically redo the ear caps for it to fit, and reinforce the inside when you dont have to. And for the same price.

I had the pleasure of meeting Christo Fett today at a prop party in our area. He brought the helmet with him and it will be quite workable. We'll get him up and Fett-i-sized.

Great meeting you Chris!

Great to meet you too Bob!

Thanks for bringing all of your gear to the party. It was very helpful to see everything up close. I will be busting my a$$ to get my stuff done. I was up at 7:30 this morning triming the bottom edge of the helmet.

My helmet will definitely work out well but I do see the benefit of getting one from someone reputable from these boards, if it means less work at the same price. People on these boards all rave about the Marrow Sun helmet and if you can get one, I probably would go that route if I had the chance to do it all again.

I like the size and shape of my "Mystery" helmet that I got from ebay and the seller was great. Shipping was ultra-fast and the packing was the best I've ever seen. However, I was a little disapointed with the thickness and quality around the bottom edge and the inside is rough fiberglass and not gelcoat. My complaints are based on seeing the awesome bucket that webchief has. I cannot speak to how the helmets are made by the guys on this site as I have not personnaly seen one.

Christo...if Webchief is helping you...your in good hands, my friend.;)
Hello,
I am new to TDH (joined today) and after reading about Cristo's concerns i find myself in a similar position. I have recently started collecting helmets and have been using Jez's "Star Wars Helmet Archive" website as a point of reference in terms of what type of quality helmets there are out there.

I have so far been lucky enough to pick up a GH ANH Vader and the 3 available Ainsworth SDS helmets, all of which are trully excellent, and as my NEED picks up pace i find myself looking for a ESB Fett helmet.

I was hoping for a few opinions on which is universally thought of as the best movie accurate ESB helmet available, and how to get hold of the maker (not the most original question i know, sorry).

Many thanks and best wishes,
Johnny
