What´s the best RF Topp for installing Hyperdyne´s LED Kit ?

Hi Fetts,
who has a hyperdyne LED-Kit installed in his RF Topp and what kind of RF Topp have you used ?

I want to use a TF RF Topp but I´m not sure if it fits ?

Pics from the inner side would be great,

Well, you know what I think....just scratchbuild it. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure H/D is making a more compact setup now if you just ask him about it.
 
I installed some into a Rubies RF and it worked well. Had to make a little more room with the dremel tho...
 
Good time to ask this as it is exactly what I am workin' on now.

For , firstsonofsolo gave me a hollow rubies (thanks again, dude;)), and there was more than enough space to fit the chip, LEDs, and batteries into it. HOWEVER, I did need to solder on some wirse to the battery leads and put the batteries and alongside the chip instead of where they were suppose to go (essentially on top of the chip.)

For , I used terminal fettler's hollow RF AND stalk. I tired putting the entire contraption into the RF, but I ran out of room (primarily because of the batteries.) So here's how I finally got it all to work:
- Cut the LEDs off the chip (make sure you know what end is + and what end is - before your do this.)
- Remove the battery springs.
- Solder wires onto where the battery springs were and run them down the hollow stalk.
- Solder wires onto the LEDs (make sure the wires are long enough to reach into the hollow area of the RF.) Then use electrical tape so that each lead does NOT touch another.
- Install the LEDS, run the wires you just soldered into the hollow area of the RF where the chip is, and carefully solder the wires where they are suppose to go.

I hope this helps. I wish I had seen the post yesterday because I just glued the RF cap on. Sorry I can't illistrate with pictures.

Where shall I put the cables coming down from the hollow-RF ? Through that hole comes the servo....

Any idea, Fett´s ? :confused
 
here are attached the inside of my bobamaker bucket, it is a little squishey, so I can not just rip off my helmet but I really advise having all the electronics built into the helmet as it just makes life much more easy. I have the hyperdyne labs servo kit installed as well as some other stuff too!

That's one idea ... anyway that works for ya will do. For my , I have the wires coming out the other end (yes, towards the outside of the helmet) but just a little modification to the ear cap does the trick. Drill a chanel in the ear cap on the inside (nobody will see that) and then drill another hole through the helmet to put the wires through. I'll see if I can get some pics up later of how I did this.

That´s what I want to do, installing a servo. Your hollow-RF is great but difficult to use with a servo. Do you plan to do a redesign ?
 
Exactly ... TD-4242 and I found no way to rig the servo motor with the wires there.
My initial idea was to replace the washer between the 'o' ring and hollow nut with a geared cog, this would then mesh with the cog on the servo shaft, possibly a worm (i think that's what they're called) gear so it could opperate at 90 degrees... The only other option is to drill a hole an inch or so up from the pivot and run the cables through the inner ear piece as on the real helmet...

I developed my own RF circuit board that fits very nice inside my hollow RF, which I believe is a DP recast. I had it side by side with my DP RF, and it appeared to be exactly the same and my circuit fits fine in both. The battery issue is what I was dealing with also. I was hoping to fit it with a battery that is easily obtainable, instead of the 3 cell job that the hyperdyne has. For myself, I am using a hollow stalk and microswitch, but I want to eventually offer to the public which I'm sure will want a self contained unit.
