VOICE AMP PLACEMENT

Does anyone have any good ideas of placing a Radio Shack mini amp? I have a Hyperdyne board and not really sure that a bucket would be a smart place to rig that but being as the amps are somewhat bulky, where would a good place in a ESB Fett costume could I mount the speaker so everyone can hear me clearly and not have an obvious bulge from the amp?

doesn't that muffle the sound? I've heard that even with the volume cranked up, it is difficult to hear in crowded places? and what about feedback?

Thats where I have my amp. I have never had any feedback with this placement. The biggest problem I have in loud places is that mic in my helmet picks up all the noise and sends it through the amp.

Here's the setup I used on my last costume. I did some minor electronics work and added a second jack for an external speaker (placed behind the abdomen plate). However, I believe the mini-amp already has a 'speaker out' jack for this purpose.

I have the Hyperdyne board and a radio shack mini-amp also. I have a RotJ Fett but this was my solution:

1. Hyperdyne board in the right side pouch.

2. Headset wire goes from the board, up under my flak jacket, into the helmet. (my headset wire is pretty short, so that's why the board has to be in the right pouch.)

3. Amp wire goes from the board, around my back (try to hide it in amongst the belts) into the left side pouch where the amp resides.

(optional) 4. Push-to-Talk wire goes from the board into my jumpsuit through a small opening in the abdomen, and comes out of my right sleeve into my hand.

I don't have any problem with people hearing me. My only issue is that from inside the helmet I can not hear the speaker. So to me it just sounds like me talking inside the helmet and the people outside just seem to understand ;)

I also have the Hyperdyne board.

- The board is in my left ammo pouch.
- I have a HiSonic speaker in my right ammo pouch.
- All wiring runs under my jumpsuit and through a slip above each ammo pouch to get from under my jumpsuit to the outside of it.

It works really well, but it is the reason it will take me a while to get suited up.
