Fantastic paint up... and love the interior.
Cheers Spides, you are one of the gun painters that always inspired me to do this sort of a paint up! Many thanks brother

UPDATE 18/5/2012 : Final pics with RF added
Morning friends! Sorry to drag this thread up from the dead, but in all my excitement colour testing for a new ROTJ paintup starting soon, I had forgotten to update this thread with the pics with the Rangefinder added for my ESB paint up. Not much to add that hasn't been covered in the thread already, bar the updated pics with RF. **Note : I worked out my pic resolution problems, so have just updated the pics I already had, with some exactly the same, but sharper versions and without the fuzzyness..
Pics 1-4 simply show a 360 degree view with all the new pieces in place. Pic 5, if you look close, shows the tiny red activation button next to the rangefinder stalk - this is a tiny present detail that I was happy to include. Mine is a dummy switch, so it doesnt activate the lights or anything, but I really like it in there for accuracy (* note - i will touch this up from Rafs info down the track, but its not a massive issue). Pic 6, is simply a montage of differrent angles of the weathered RF topper, and I just put a couple of the interior pics together that i have already shown, in pic 7 to finish it off. One of my photographer mates has an idea of wanting to use the lid on a female model for a shoot - if that happens and they come out cool, i'll post them. Otherwise, will see you in Jayvee's deluxe ROTJ paint up thread around the corner! Peace my friends

I think this is my favorite replica helmet I've seen so far.
What rangefinder did you get? Doesn't quite look like the new perpex ones from TF, unless I'm completely off.
fantastic! I believe you could def get commissions if you had the time or desire to do such
Thanks for the kind words katzy - ive been asked by a few for commissions, and while id never rule it out, I have to rule it out for the time being. I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist, so the paintups would take me an age, and I wouldnt be able to do many at a time, due to my job and sports training etc. But to have you say that really humbles me, and I thank you kindly :-)
I'm in love with your helmet! One of the most accurate paint jobs I saw so far!
Talking about theThis is not an accurate setup, because that button should be on the base of the rangefinder ear and not in the wire cut out. I better post an image with the wiring and such:tiny red activation button next to the rangefinder stalk.
Altough this is the Pre-Pro #3 helmet, the ESB Hero helmet was done the same way.
You can see that wire 1, 2 and 3 goes straight to the circuit board (or whatever is that), while wire 4 goes to the micro switch and from there wire 5 goes to the circuit board. Wire 6 and 7 connects the circuit board to the batteries casing.
What you saw as red on that particular place is in fact the red wire and not the switch.
Ahh, very good raf, that makes sense. Fortunately not a biggie, that will be an easy one for me to adjust. May just require your sage like advice on the upcoming sandy ROTJ! Appreciate all your help on this one, you've been my yoda ;-)
JV you did such a great job on this helmet the display looks brilliant, Its so coo for me to see some thing I made being finished by some one else and completing it in such an awsome way, stuff like this is the reason I decided to make helmets for others in the first place,

James - it really is a pleasure to paint such a beautiful cast. I always say these projects are a huge collaboration of very dedicated people, and while I did the paint work, you cast the awesome '3D canvas', Raf was instrumental in details, Garrett provided color lists etc,etc.. But the fact we have people like yourself, striving for the perfect cast to give us something to paint in the first place is awesome, and you are a credit to this forum. Peace :-)

I can't believe I'm only just now finding this thread on TDH, your paint up is insane dude, I'll be using this thread as a guide for sure when my GMH arrives....soon hopefully. Fantastic effort, your skills are awesome, well done again! Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!
Jayvee, all I have to say is excellent work my brother that is one top notch lid you have there!!! I love the base that that this fine piece if art is sitting on it is a great complement to the piece. I look forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve for ROTJ.
Top of the top.... can't say better.....

This is just nuts!!! Unbelievable man!
Thanks a bunch Strumfett and D1 - very humbling comments. Hows your lid coming along Dynamic, did you finish the ears? That lid was on it's way to being a beauty!
Good Lord, how have I not seen this thread??? My powers grow weak.
Jayvee, they say the devil is in the details. If that's true, your ESB helmet is pure evil!!!
Truly one of the best ESB hero buckets I've seen in all my time on TDH. It's jaw-dropping.
Thanks heaps for the comments SJ, much of it comes from good folk like yourself setting such a high standard for us all to strive towards. many, many thanks again bud!
P.S. - I've seen your work - i'd say your powers are just fine
