I've followed bobamakers sugestion of using Acrylics. Started it last night so hopefully will be able to get some pictures up soon

I recommend that you use water based acrylics, you can get these from HobbyCraft for about £1.75 each. They have hundreds of colours, I bought quite a few variations and ended up mixing them to get the exact colour. If you were doing ESB then I could give you the names to use.

Good luck

Daz, would appreciate a list of what you used for the ESB lid!

Hey guys

For uk based fetts try here..

www.hannants.co.uk

They stock the actual poly scale green for the esb fett. Only trouble is you have to order a kit with the paint. This is a post office regulation to protect the jar I'm told. Doesn't matter what kit though, it's possible to find a really cheap one...Anyway this is what I had to do to get the actual panzer green.

For the other colours I used various tamiya mixes.
For the mandible red, halfords red primer looks pretty good, I haven't used this myself though..

Cheers

No problem, when I return from work tonight I'll publish the colour list I have for ESB helmets. These are from two makes of Acrylics (Anita's & Folk Art) these are inexpensive and are very easy to apply and dry superbly smooth. I've spent a long time searching for the correct colours and the right product.

I haven't got all the colours for the ROTJ bucket yet (I only paint the odd one of these and I'm currently still using my original mixes), but when I do finally need to get a new batch of colour I will publish these also.

later

Just an FYI for anyone outside the states wanting to pick up some Testor paints. I'd be more than willing to order them and ship them to you. My wife does PR for FedEx Kinkos and we get 75% off of all our shipping. So as long as you can afford the order and shipping I would have no problem helping anyone out who needs it. Just feel free to PM me and we'll make the arrangement. Heck, 75% off FedEx... you'll never beat that deal internationally.

OK, here are the paint references for the ESB helmet, I am still missing a few, but once my mixes run out I will be finding matches for these also. If anyone has a better reference than the ones I've listed then please let us know, we'll hopefully get an accurate list going.

The only Tamiya one listed is the gold for the ear, this is a very pale (silvery) gold and looks awesome when airbrushed on, the others are water based acrylics that can be found at loads of craft stores, I get mine from "Hobby Craft"

I called the Hobbycraft superstore after checking their site for product ranges, but they informed me they no longer stock or sell Folk Art paints! Big downer!
